Good review. I’m glad to see someone else talking about the heat issues. Their solution after trimming the hand gaurd was to ENLARGE the oversized gas block which I’m assuming just neutered all the work on adding space between it and the handguard. Under heavy fire ours would get so hot it would spread into the lower receiver; after hearing no other reviewers complain about the heat I had HOPED it was fixed. I guess the other guys just don’t shoot the thing…

@@donaldist7321 yeah when companies do this and act like this, just like L&S did, it gives me great pause on buying from them or buying any of the products that they make. It’s not smart business. Things why we need channels like FocusTrip. He’s honest and makes no apologies about it. 95% of my rifles are built with PSA lowers and premium uppers. I did see that Otter Creek Labs post on Reddit about a problem someone was having with their suppressor. It was a baffle strike. The owner said send it back and he would refund the tax stamp and get it repaired and sent back to him quick. He also said it was one that was outsourced for welding and that he would fire that company. Now that’s how business is done. I can understand if someone abuses the warranty in place for products but the Jackal in question was not abused. It’s out of spec. This is a black mark on PSA right now.

I went by PSA's booth at SHOT this year, they're coming out with bolt actions, and shotguns, and etc etc. I've been in the industry for a while, and one of the biggest issues when dealing especially with ammo is finding people with enough attention to detail to produce a good product as cheaply as possible. The same thing applies with firearm assembly and whatnot. I have generally been pretty happy with what I've bought from PSA, however I mostly buy components and assemble it all myself because I'm at the point in my addiction that's the only way I can get my rocks off.

I was thinking I'd get a JAKL next because I'd like to try a piston gun, but your videos have definitely changed my mind. I can deal with a few self-fixable issues on a cheaper product, but the JAKL ain't cheap and the out-of-spec rail just killed it for me. There's cheap Turkish stuff that gets that right. Thank you for your much needed work in this space.

So here is what I will say. I honestly think it was the way that he brought out the QC issue. Let me provide an example. Years ago Military Arms Channel brought up a huge failure point on PSAs little AKV 9mm PCC he demonstrated tons of failures and plastered it all over his channel! BUT! He was very professional provided a recommendation and said he was going to give them the chance to fix the issue. Not only did they fix it. The publicly acknowledged it and even NAMED the part that fixed the problem after him and acknowledged that publicly as well. So long story short if you just showcased the issue and said hey guys gotta get this fixed you would have not had any issue. I think it was all about professionalism. Not excusing their QC but the way it was handled. I come in peace just making an observation.

@@FocusTripp if so they sure didn’t care that he blasted the heck out of it and sent product back flat out saying that they really need to get this issue fixed. I guess all I’m saying is they probably would have reacted similarly to you had you presented it as oh dang we got an issue here showcased it and said please fix and show us you fixed it. I am willing to bet they would have appreciated that. Now in no way am I saying oh they shouldn’t be doing better QC work. I’m just saying that few companies in America are doing the R&D and production capacity that they are and that’s awesome so it’s fair to pint out their failures. However the manner in which that pointing out is conducted is what I believe mattered to them. So in conclusion even if MAC was a paid shill they sure did let him get away with plastering high definition videos of their failures to the whole world and responded with a legitimate fix to make it right and owned it.

Jus as good. PSA has grown way too quick without properly integrating all of their acquisitions let alone coming up with a solid QA and QC process. ISO standards on this exist for a reason, maybe their margins are indeed so low they let tooling go 150 operations instead of 75, maybe they dont have tight enough tolerances for rejects, or maybe they keep machines up too much. Probably all of it. Its a shame because while i dont own a PSA weapon or buy much of anything, they have great ideas and designers in R&D but then they're blacklisting people, removing negative feedback, strong arming forum mods to delete comments, and just not listening to feedback in general.

PSA has the perfect customer base: People that don't shoot. Wanna know how I know they don't shoot? Because they're fanboys. People that shoot a lot, especially heavy match schedules, have some form of umbrage against every company. When you shoot enough, you break stuff. When you break stuff, you replace stuff. When you replace stuff, you go back to shooting. When you shoot enough, you break stuff. And the circle of destruction goes on and on. PSA owners buy a cheap rifle, shoot a few hundred rounds a year (maybe), and don't have the firing schedule to see it fall apart.

They always exaggerate or straight up fabricate a lie about how many rounds they’ve shot through them “with no issues”. It pisses me off because not only is it just dishonest, but other people (mostly newcomers to the gun space) see their comments and reviews and think, “wow this is just as good as a more expensive rifle, but it’s much cheaper!” In reality, these things work well enough that you’ll never know if you don’t shoot that much through them, but if you use them like a work horse, they fall apart much faster and less reliably than something like a BCM.

This goes for all the non ar, ars, they are only seeming to meet the cool new gun, but at a cost for the base rifle you can run a BCM (or insert other high mid tier AR brand) with optic, light and well on the way to a suppressor.

I can’t say I haven’t drank from the PSA cup, especially for their stripped lowers and a few uppers over the years; but I’ve never had that idealistic, chummy feeling on account of their “mission”, and I’ve always erred on the side of “too good to be true” as far as they are concerned. They’re a company with financial goals, not a charity. This is all to say that people expect to have their cake and eat it too, and PSA has played on that heavily in fulfilling people’s taste for interesting guns, which the authentic and original models of are too expensive for many to swing(whether out of poverty or frugality). The logical conclusion to a company that puts all their cash into designing and making a massive catalogue of “affordable” alternatives, as opposed to mastering just a few products lines, to sought after goods that are expensive and hard to acquire is a gaggle of barely working pieces, that only satisfy a poor collectors tastes. This is why their shit kinda doesn’t work; and that’s also why we shouldn’t be that surprised when they don’t.

Put around 3k round through it this year, mix of old steel and green tip, with only some oil and and otis bore snake every so often. Not one hiccup. It's heavy and expensive, but it doesn't die. Really only ever kept DD (mk18) for AR’s for years and was an AK guy. Bought a PWS upper on a whim, because of a sale. It is now the rifle I shoot more than anything, easily the most robust, smoothest, and joyously thoughtless firearms I own. Suppressed it is a dream- zero recoil, doesn’t get hot, easy to clean WHEN I EVEN CLEAN IT. I have now sunk thousands in accessories around that upper- PWS just doesn’t get the love it deserves.

As a firearms instructor and CRSO I discourage people from buying PSA products if they are looking for firearms for self protection and or home defense. I've seen dozens upon dozens of PSA products come through the range I work at and I can't remember one of them ever not having any issues. From their AR lowers being out of spec, loose castle nuts, pic rails being out of spec, canted front sight towers, trigger pins falling out, weak springs, ak trigger guards not riveted, ak headspace being out on brand new guns, ak front sights canted, cracked ak piston heads the list goes on and on. Sure they have a lifetime warranty but who knowingly wants to risk it and have to deal with all that hassle just to get your gun back and it have some other issue. Want an AK? Buy a Wasr, Want an AR? Buy a BCM. End of story

I personally have have only ever had maybe 2 issues with the numerous products I have gotten from PSA, but it says something when 3 items sent to a reviewer all had issues. When you send it, you can hand pick what's goes out. What bothers me the most is how they handled it when he said something about it.

Thou shalt not talk bad about the company of the poors! I have a 10.5 5.56 upper I got as a range toy to stop me from buying any more expensive piston uppers. I think it shoots incredibly soft with either my RC2 or my omega 36M on it. However, it does not feel like a quality gun. The F5 stock blew. I sold it and put a sig stock on it. The charging handle flops around. The bolt release is small and shrouded and hard to hit. And it’s heavy. In no way does it feel like the fit and finish of a mid grade AR. Also my takedown pin holes are out of spec and I have to hammer and punch the pins out and in to take it down and assemble it. Not a serious gun, a range toy at best. Also, it sucks having to run the suppressed only gas plug. I can’t take the can off and just twist the plug to a non suppressed setting. I have to replace the whole thing. And the gas plug uses a takedown pin spring and detent and it has already failed under the heat and had to be replaced. I replaced it myself and it was a royal pain in the ass. Not a serious gun. Do not buy this as a serious trust your life gun.

I kind of think you went too hard into the Military Arms Channel mind set of “I’ll crap on this because it gets clicks”. The ACR type stock is utter garbage so totally agree with that. But if purchased as upper and then lower, you’d pay like $1150~ and get a better stock. And as far as recoil impulse, my Jakl has been incredible mild recoiling with a very wide variety of ammo, suppressed and unsuppressed. Then outside of playing with the gas, I’ve never had a stoppage. I think you kinda went a little too far “cool guy shit on it” on it.
