Johnny Depp lawyer completely shuts down Elaine Bredehoft
During Adam waldman's testimony during the day 19 trial
Actor Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation in connection with Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she spoke out about being the victim of domestic violence. Heard’s article did not specifically name Depp as her alleged abuser, but according to Depp’s lawsuit, it relied “on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her.” Amber Heard is counter-suing Depp.

@@_moro_4992 An attorney cannot reveal any information their client told them nor any information/documents produced in the course of them working with the client. Unless the client willingly waives their attorney client privilege. Since JD didn't waive his privilege, the attorney has the right to not answer any question that might interfere with that attorney client privilege. It is pretty common that when an attorney is called to be a witness, they have another attorney to advise them on what not to say, like in the video.

Well this was for a purpose of doubts, she knows she is not getting anything out of him, that wasn't the point, no one expected him to confess to this whether it's true or not. The point was to let the jury know they could be hiding something. They couldn't do anything else there and they HAD to bring him in since they are suing johnny back over this guy's statement so this was a mandatory witness for them. By the way, their lawyers are not bad, there's no miracle lawyer. Their client and main witness on a stand blames them for hiding evidence, she changes her story so many times over various trials and interviews and such that it doesn't match anymore, her witnesses also have holes in their stories and contradict each other's stories. You could switch lawyer teams between them and Camille wouldn't do much better. Even good clients with truth behind them can be difficult cases, in this case I don't know where the truth is but I for certain can tell the client is constantly pushing them over an edge. Let's be real here.

If your lawyer is ever subpoenaed to testify about their conversation with YOU, this is exactly what your attorney’s attorney and your attorney should do. REFUSE TO ANSWER ON THE GROUNDS OF ATTORNEY CLIENT PRIVILEGE. I can think of very few instances when this privilege does not apply. In this case, every single question focused on the lawyer disclosing the conversation he had with his client (Johnny Depp) about legal advice that the lawyer was giving Johnny or legal questions that Johnny was asking his lawyer. What was the point of forcing this guy to sit for a deposition in the first place? Based on the questions she asked, what other possible answer did Elaine really expect? Waste of time.

@@andrewwilkins7823 That’s possible but not likely. The asking lawyer knows that the judge will actually SUSTAIN the objection. Simple answer - Johnny Depp... Something Depp has said since this news first broke all those years ago... "I just wanted the marriage over, I wanted to protect Amber, I did not want her life being affected by our failure" - Even in his opening statements in this trial, he echoed that... He never pursued charges as he did not want to hurt her! And bringing charges would have destroyed her career. For all his faults, which Depp does have and has admitted to... He has been CONSISTANT in his testimony... He refused to press charges to protect Amber Heard! And yes, also now... The Statute of Limitations also kicks in... It has been over 6 years since the Op-Ed... And the alleged abuse took place before that!

@clairex31
@clairex31 2 жыл бұрын
She's has to ask these questions. I saw Elaine smiling when this was being played in court, I think it's a strategy to make Adam and depp look evasive. Some of these questions are interesting and one who has no idea in law, like the jurors, would wonder why aren't they being answered if they had nothing to hide. Almost like Camille asking heard all those questions knowing heard would constantly deny, deny, deny. You can tell a narrative by using questions directed at the witness. But by the end though, where Adam laid out simply why he believed heard and her friend commited perjury.. That one is damning to heard.

she doesnt have to ask this questions, she ask them because she thinks this will affect the jurys opinion but i think is common knowledge that attorney-client privilege is an iron wall unless you have proper grounds to break it like money laundering for example, and the stuff they got in only makes amber look bad
@heathwasson7811
@heathwasson7811 2 жыл бұрын
@@gshimon I agree. The public at large has certainly seen enough TV to be familiar with the concept of attorney client privilege. In fact, I would wager the average person thinks it even extends further than it actually does. This is a bad gamble on the defense's behalf, thinking it will make Depp & Team look evasive... but on the other hand, their client has handed them such a shit case to work with, I don't know what they can do besides desperate gambles like this.
@rrteppo
@rrteppo 2 жыл бұрын
I think if she had done it better it could have looked evasive. But JD's lawyers said, "this would violate attorney client privilege we can't talk about that" solves most of that, especially after question 10 with the same instructions

People can’t even imagine how difficult it is to remain impartial throughout a case like this
@mrbomb1339
@mrbomb1339 2 жыл бұрын
But isn't that the point, the jury needs to start impartial obviously but throughout the trial they are to figure out which party is in the wrong. Though I guess for situations like in this video, these non answers and all of these questions are supposed to just be ignored, so in that sense I guess it makes sense that it would be difficult to not remember everything like this.
@ArielEarthyorder
@ArielEarthyorder 2 жыл бұрын
@@mrbomb1339 Right, but even after the jury picks a side, if there is still some trial time left, the jury needs to still listen to both sides and be open to changing sides. If the jury already makes up their mind before the trial is over, then that would make it difficult for them to choose which party is in the wrong. Basically, they should give each side a chance to redeem themselves even after they have picked a side.

You can watch the trial with commentary from actual lawyers on "Emily D Baker" or "Legalbytes", they explain all that.
