My 5th circuit of the EGBW pattern. I'm starting to find my feet with the landing, still room for improvement though. Getting the pattern down to perfection still requires much work but I'm going to blame my sticky yoke ;)
This is on my custom Wellesbourne Mountford scenery which can be downloaded at: flightsim.to/file/1191/egbw-w...
I'm also using the modified version of the Cessna 152 which can be downloaded at: github.com/DRF30q/C152X
The equipment I'm using is:

I flew out of EGBW this morning just to see what the default scenery looks like. You've done an amazing job! Hopefully, I'll be able to do stuff like this if I can ever get the SDK working again.

Your're getting good at this. Need a new challenge? Midway along the down-wind leg, pre-landing checks complete, down-wind call made, admiring your superb airfield scenery - then the instructor sitting beside you pulls the throttle back to idle, and guards it so you can't reset it. Can you make it back to the runway? Hint - trim for best glide-speed (65 knots), no flaps until you're lined up on short final. Love the scenery, by the way.

When I get more confident I'm going to try this flightsim.to/file/2272/randfailuresfs2020 scary! random failure! But when I finish the scenery at Wellesbourne, I'm going to take a stab at Bidford (EGBI) scenery (should be much easier!) and then try doing some flights between the two.

Never landed at Bidford but our Aerodrome Manager is a tug pilot there.

@@152driver1 I had a glider flight there once and used to go there as a kid and watch the planes take off and land (same as I did with Wellesbourne)

Loving the evolution of the airport. One thought on the actual flying- try not to chase the instruments. Also whether sim or real life it is almost impossible to fly exactly to the desired height - so many variables. Practice can make better but never perfect.

Yeah I know what you mean, I do feel like I focus too much on ensuring the instruments are perfect more than just looking out of the window and seeing how things look.

Discovered your channel today as I was considering having a go at making some scenery - Your videos are so detailed and explain everything so well that I'll be giving it a go in the next couple of days! Thank you so much. I'm a pilot myself and live round the corner from Wellesbourne airfield so if you need any info on flying light aircraft, Wellesbourne or any other airfields around here I'd be happy to help. Couldn't find anywhere to DM you though.

Hey, hope you get to make some great scenery in the sim! What I could really do with from Wellesbourne is reference photos of the buildings south of the Aeros buildings, so the Wartime Museum buildings, the hangars between the museum and the Heliair buildings, the buildings at the Heliair area, the buildings at the fueling area and any photos of signs, such as the noise consideration signs on the taxi ways. That would be really helpful!

For scenery looks amazing. I really struggle with textures. Always go to far and spend to much time messing, and never looks right.

You are doing a great job, particularly on the scenery. Regarding the signs, easiest thing is to use any photos for your texture but I think you would know that already. Regarding the flying, I didn't hear you mention the trim, it's the first thing I do once I reach the altitude I want to stay at, but others will know more about this plane than me. Not sure if you could remove the taxi signs and model your own too, they are very easy to do and texture. Other than that, great work, good video and holler if you need any help with the modelling. Thanks entirely to you I will be looking to upload some things to flightsim.to in the coming weeks.

Yeah I'm using photo textures as and where I can. I do trim when I'm at altitude (usually on the start of the downwind) as its built into the CH Flight Yoke but it's really super sensitive. I'd rather not model custom taxiway signs just for Asobo to put in more choices down the line and have to take them all back out again :)

@@FlyingTheston I did wonder if you were using the CH Joke and yes it is a bit sensitive and flimsy, haven't even hooked mine up since I got back into simming. I hear ya on the signs, but you also got me wondering now. It should be possible to model a bunch of generic buildings that people can add to their own package so that they can drop them into their own projects as and when they want, esp if the default object list doesn't have what they want, such as the example in your 002 video when replacing those dome hangars. Chhers.

flaps for takeoff should be first stage, 10degrees, mag drop must be no more than 125rpm on power check. Max rate of climb is 65Knots. Circuit should be 1000ft. Landing apply carb set rpm to 1500. Maintain altitude. when speed drops into the white arc use two stages of flap and trim for 70knots. turn on to final. add full flap, carb away at 300ft . Aim for the numbers, cut the power over the threshold and try and keep the nose of the ground.

I thought flaps in the Cessna 152 were supposed to be at 0deg on a runway and only 10deg on a grass field runway?

@@johnhodgkiss9882 I started with 10deg of flaps, but I was told by IRL pilots in the comments that 0deg on non soft runway. I've never flown a real plane so I have no idea :p

@@152driver1 Yup that works! that's a treasure trove of reference photos! definitely enough there for me to do the heli-air hangar and office and probably even the fuel station buildings... oh and a nice couple of signs I can swipe to make it more realistic :)
