Let's Paint - The Fellowship of the Ring - Part 1, Legolas Greenleaf.

Hello my friends and a very warm welcome back to my painting channel and in this video I am starting to make a new project for me to display in my cabinet. In this video I am starting to paint the fellowship of the ring from the games workshop Middle earth strategy battle game. I had a great amount of fun finally getting around to painting the first miniature of this set and I really enjoyed watching him grow into life with each layer. Although I am trying to stick to the same or similar colours to the movies I am also going to be making these little paintings completely my own style too and I really hope that you like what I create with them.

This channel has been fuelled by you guys and the more you watch, comment and like the content the more content I will post. This channel was made during lockdown simply to show my friends how I paint in my spare time and since then it has grown into a nice little platform with quite a lot of content. Super good job, Dan! I absolutely love the home-made base you've designed. ( It's from the Mine Battle scene, I'm guessing? ) So creative, and so well done. I 'm looking forward to watching each slot fill up with another character. Wow! What a great idea! This is going to make a nice series and playlist when completed! I'm excited!!! One thing I've always done with my "Archer" mini's... It's always bothered me that they rarely come with the bow string. So before I paint them, I take some fishing line, and tie a little slip-knot and tighten it onto the end of the bow, then pull it tight and glue the other end to the Archer's hand, and glue it. Once for the top of the bow, once for the bottom of the bow. When the super glue dries, I cut the ends as close to his fingers as possible. Although holding the line tight waiting for the glue to dry admittedly takes several minutes, the final product is very satisfying for me. A few times, I've even gone so far as to use a small piece of the sprue, and carve a tiny, ( albeit crude ) , arrow and glue it onto the bow and draw hand. ( If it was obtainable, and if I was ambitious, lol ) Although this is more rare for me to do. Thanks for sharing, my friend! See you in the next one! Cheers! And as always, Love from Canada 💖✌

You are absolutely right my friend it is indeed the scene from Balin's tomb in the movie. It's the moment when all the goblins come rushing in to face off against the fellowship. Thank you again for your lovely words and I'm glad that you are as excited as I am to paint through this series of miniatures. You have a fantastic idea of doing bow strings with fishing wire and I have very recently tried to do it myself on another miniature. It is a slow and fiddly process, but you are quite right that it does give the miniature a completed feel. Unfortunately I had finished painting Legolas before I plucked up enough courage to try this technique myself. This is something that I will be looking at making a little video on at some point in the near future for sure. As always my friend, stay safe and I'll see you next time. Hi which prime did you use for this set ???

Hi my friend I mostly prime my models using a “rust-oleum” grey primer spray can. Grey is my favourite base primer and I really like the end result of my minis after using it. Thanks for watching my friend and I’m glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻

@@renatoe3417 you can use brush on primer if you like but this one is in a can and is much easier to use. Brush on primer I would use would be from vallejo but it can be easily applies too thick this way 👍🏻

Thank you as always! I was worried about taking on this project as it’s something that I know a lot of painters have done before. It’s such an iconic series with such personal ties to character for some people and I really want to do them justice. It’s always scary trying to paint something so well known but I’m having fun doing it and I’m so happy that you like the outcome. I can’t thank you enough for your kind words as they make me feel a lot more at ease after worrying so much about this one. Tank care my friend and I’ll see you on the next one.
