I don't know why people hate on this game so much. I love this game! Sure the motion controls can be wonky sometimes but they're never too bad and I think the story is one of the best.

In Hero Mode in Zelda: Skyward Sword, you will take double damage by enemies. For example, You will take one heart damage by getting hit by Octorock's rock in Regular Game Mode, but in Hero Game Mode, you will take two heart damage by getting hit by Octorock's rock, also no recovery hearts growing in the plants, in the jars, and by defeating enemies.

I played through Skyward Sword twice, because I liked it. I found each time a bit unique. The thing you said about the 1st choice of landing places determining future cut scenes I didn't know about till now.

I think in a Link Between Worlds you can skip the cut scenes if you press start, but only after you have seen it before.
