Interestingly, during the early days of the bronze age someone tried making an obsidian sword to keep up with the times (bronze allowed for much longer knives/early swords) in Denmark. The obsidian was in sections, since making a whole blade out of it would have been impossible. Sort of like a Macuahuitl but much more sword-like. So you _can_ make a stone sword and people have clearly tried in the past, its just far from ideal.

I mean his own design kinda worked so maybe a regular arming sword could work but I think it’ll snap easier then the chopper he designed.

I think on some of the horizontal ballistic gel tests the swords were hitting the middle nail, thus stopping them from going further since they're being stopped. Not 100% sure, but looking at some of the footage it sure looks like it.

Nice experiment but what I think is you need to practice edge alignment first with a proper blade. So your swings would be more consistent.

tbh if you were going for an actual practical form for a sword made of stone, i say a short sword that's thin and mostly made for thrusting is the way to go, maybe made out of the same material, but also you could include a slightly serrated edge like on stone knives for cutting into flesh

@Louis Weisz this is just a tease. Did you know that each cube in minecraft is a 1 cubic meter long or about 3 cubic feet. comparing the normal minecraft sword to it, it's about 2 thirds of the block which is about 2 feet and or about 0.6 meters long, so about the normal length of a sword 60 centimeters.

Just imagine a burglar trying to break in and is met with someone holding one of these 😂 It's unintentionally probably a bullet proof shield, one whack to any part of his body is just going to completely ruin his skeleton, and if he's on the ground trying to crawl away, he could probably throw this on top of him and pin him down to the ground like Thor did with Loki that one time.

Reminds me of a bit of history. There was a city in mesoamerica called teoitihuacan (pardon my dead language) whose art centered not on the divine, but the people. This was because the only deity there was the almighty dollar (adjacent thingy). The city was based around an obsidian mine, with that stone being used to cut everything from foes to avocados. The stone was also (surprisingly) fragile, so everyone in the area had to keep buying replacements, leading to a nigh perpetual source of resources in what would otherwise be a meager town. Problems arose due to the ones at the top of the (steppe) pyramid abusing their wealth, leading to a violent coup by the lower class. Afterwards, everyone left the city for their old homes, leaving the entire complex to be swallowed by the jungle. Cool bit of history, shame we can’t learn from it🙃
