i have EDS and it’s awesome to see it represented more in anything, but especially things like piercing!! i heal slowly and am prone to just generally weird scarring, so i had no idea if i’d be able to get a piercing to heal well. i got my septum pierced recently - it’s healing well and i’m glad i went for it, but i’m so glad people are talking about EDS more!! people in the future won’t be going into it as blindly as most people with EDS are now and that’s such a huge thing :’)

Your dedication to your craft should be what all piercers strive for. I do hope one day there will be more regulation as far as material certifications for things that go in our bodies and that it'll be standard instead of something people think is up for debate. I have EDS too! Since my diagnosis I have never been turned away and have always given piercers heads up but they have no idea what I’m talking about, so it’s really awesome to see it talked about by professionals!!

The sword piece is SO cool!! I'm curious, is a vertical industrial more difficult to heal than a regular horizontal industrial? :)

Hi I am the Michael, the bottom of the vertical industrial was definitely more difficult to heal than the top. One of the most consistent challenges was moving my jaw less. Talking a lot, opening my mouth wide to bite, and even just laughing or coughing would cause the bottom of my ear to move. The sensation of having my ear be connected to itself was really fun for me but I imagine it could be a major bother to a person uncomfortable with that sensation. It only lasted about two weeks before the sensation dissipated and I personally kinda miss it.

I absolutely love your work and hope to get pierced by you one day. I have a vertical industrial too! I traveled almost five hours to New Orleans to get it done by the only APP piercer there. Healing hasn’t been too bad for me, but it had a bump on the inner top part from moisture! I have never struggled with this before with my other piercings, but I finally have it under control, and I absolutely love it. It’s such a rare and unique piercing and will be so rewarding once it’s healed (it’s five months old).

I was going to get the sword one after seeing that the first time but I didn’t have anatomy for it and I was not happy about it in the slightest. But currently working through a mass curation and got some fun plans to take away the sting. PS: if you ever come to Scotland I’ll happily let you do whatever you want 🤣

I have so many cool ideas and haven’t found my piercer that I’d trust with them as of yet. Btw love your septum stack and your stretched ears. I’ve just begun stretching mine, barley at 8g. Started late in life.

Ugh I love your work so much!! Whats your opinion/advice for conch stretching? I've had my conches pierced at 14g for about 5 years now and they healed so quickly. I love the look of big conches but want to know if I can safely get to my goal size of 8g.

I was just diagnosed with EDS last year and have been struggling to heal new piercings. I was surprised because I have had several other piercings that healed quickly before that.

@shellshores Have you tried going to someone else? Someone else told me the same thing and I went to someone better and he did it and I’m pretty happy w mine. I got paired nostrils btw.

If you’re looking for ears to pierce, I would LOVE to volunteer!!! I’m getting married in about a year, and I don’t want to risk anything going wrong before that, but after my wedding my ears are all yours! I already have 3 lobes in each ear, a conch in my right and a daith in my left. I am open to literally any ear piercing!!! Also: could you do a video about custom bends? I didn’t know there were so many steps!

There's no art, creativity or technical skill if you do a shit job at piercing - which sadly does happen with a lot of piercers. To be great at your job you need to have all 3, and to be acceptable you need technical skill for sure.
