I recently upgraded my table saw to AskWoodMan's VerySuperCool Tools T-Square fence system. The new fence rails added a considerable amount of weight to the saw, so I had to make a new set of retractable wheels. Here is what I came up with.

Dogged pursuit of a solution! Without thinking of just spending money. Wether there was any, or it just didn't need to be spent. Refreshing, very refreshing! Excellent solutions are there to be found, and fabricated. Well done!

Great job. I've got the same table saw and I also just purchased the VerySuperCool Tools T-Square. Wood really like to see some video/pictures of your setup.

Thank you! Glad to hear of your purchase. I love this fence; absolute game changer vs. the stock one from Craftsman. Looking for photos of anything specific?

Thank you! Yup, this was really pushing the limits of the inverted jigsaw. I acquired a bandsaw later that year and have been loving it.

Nice solution. I think I've viewed them all. There are at least 10 different ways to skin this cat if not more. By the looks of it this had to at least been a weeks worth of work? I think I'm going to stick with 4 bolts in turnbuckle sleeves that weld to the base frame. Sure, wrenching them down and up is 4x the work of a lever (or two) but it can be quickly done with a drill and socket extension. For the amount of time and work involved in building these levered set-ups I'm on the fence as to their worth vs time to create, especially for people like me who may only need to move their table-saw a few times a month. If I needed it to move daily...different story. Nice job nonetheless.

Thanks! You bring up a good point on the time to build vs. actual time spent moving the saw around with the threaded levelers, especially when using a drill. When I was building this, I had an hour here, 30 minutes there, etc., to work on things, so it took me waaaay longer than a week. It actually took more than a month, factoring in all the failed prototypes. :O But if you had some solid chunks of time to work on this project, I think the build could be completed in a couple of days, just because you wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel. Regardless, now that it is done, I'm happy I don't have to crawl under the saw anymore to get to that leveler in the far left corner against the wall... I banged my head on those cast iron wings A LOT. Take care!

Well done on getting to a working solution but dear god son, is that a wood-chisel or a dull beaver you're bludgeoning that poor innocent piece of 2x6 with? Are the whetstones broken in your house?
@AndrewReuter
@AndrewReuter 5 жыл бұрын
Bahahaha! Yeah, those chisels are straight out of the $5 Farm and Fleet value package. Now that my grinder is working, really no excuse not to sharpen them up, though...

Week later how is it holding up don't take it you use it that much other than getting under their to clean up.
@AndrewReuter
@AndrewReuter 7 жыл бұрын
+CatchMyThrowingKnife Still holding up great. I definitely won't be using the wheels more than a couple times a year, to make room for ripping a long board or reorganize the shop. But the project was still worth it. These casters are much easier to engage than the previous version, seen at the beginning of the video.
