I think, 'loser' here is equivalent to 'otakus' and they're generally obsessed with Japanese anime and games etc. Hence they would want a Japanese boyfriend. And because they have a tendency to blow their budgets on their hobbies, 1/2 price makes it more affordable? Well that's how I interpreted it anyways. But I guess if they meant it the other way, it does sound pretty bad.

I'm one of the japanese viewers enjoy watching mamahuhu channel. I love to watch this channel but i sometimes feel sad when I see "Japanese part". i understand some people in China really hate Japan in terms of historical problem. I stayed in Beijing for a year for study abroad and I was able to have really great friends here. I just hope two countries get closer and have better realstionship.

I love videos like this, the over the top presenter is just like I would expect from a parody of a commercial here in nw.europe or america . And the thrown in english phrase reminds me of a stephen chow movie, nice touch! Overall making the humour trancend cultural borders and make it funny for all folks :P.. also I showed this to a mainlander and she laughed and snorted loudly at "dan1 shen1 gou3", having talked alot recently about this very subject it felt very "spot on". Good job guys, more culture observational parodies to the people please! :D

Lol my favorite detail was when you are going down the line of boyfriends and have to adjust the camera angle to go lower for the Japanese guy. I think it's such a subtle but funny way to address a stereotype. This channel has done so well in using humor to make people rethink.

lol why is everybody complaining about the 1-liner japanese joke? If they don't like each other then let them be. What's your business with it anyways? There were allways rivalry between nations: rome/greece, greece/turkey, US/Russia etc... considering how the west used to bash on japan and right now bashing on china these complaints are quite double standard. Kirrie Sushicat ô.o 90% Chinese actually respect and love Japanese, but tourist from North China really disappoint all over the world, especially Japan, the most popular country that Chinese like to travel. East China, like Shanghai, are much more polite and educated, I never see these Chinese people hate or anti Japan or Japanese. I think government needs a target to transfer people' attention from China to overseas: This is why most Chinese tourist are terrible rude and uneducated, because they hate everyone on this planet except their family and government.

The hatred towards Japan is mostly from the elder generation. And a big point of renting a boyfriend is to please your elders. The generation that lived through 1930~1950s mostly have witness or at least heard how Japan invading China, and it is almost impossible for them to accept a Japanese grandson-in-law.

This isn't far off from what many gay Chinese actually do - Have a sham marriage with a homosexual of the opposite sex, live seperate lives, and take him or her home every few months to show the family. I feel bad for my Chinese tongzhi and the social pressures they face, but at least they're innovative about it.
