In this video, man works to complete the floor of a small tent. It's right next to a big tent. It's so beautiful in Northern Canada. Sausage dogs.
--
Where do I live?
Northwest Territories, Canada.
How much experience do I have?
That depends. I am pretty good at starting a fire these days and gathering wood. But I don't really have true bushcraft skills and definitely no carpentry or construction skills or training. I could probably make a shelter if I had to, but that would just come from all the KZfaq training (watching) over the years.
What gear do I use?
Canon 80D camera
Rode videomicro
Sigma Art 18-35
Canon 1.8 50mm stm
Canon 18-55mm stm
Canon 10-18mm stm
A cheap 15 yr old tripod
I do not live at the tent. I just visit whenever I can.

I just want to say a couple of things, first, I think I can speak on behalf of all of us on the other side of the camera, that we appreciate you taking the time to share all of this with us. I know that it's time consuming and not really convenient, but the shots you take and the way it's all put together and edited, really does convey the peace you experience, so thank you for taking us with you. Second, no one puts ketchup on a sausage dog you sicko.

I think I would've gotten some insulation of some sort to put inside those wooden pallets. I can easily feel the wind blow into those pallet ends and come right up through every crack between the plywood pieces. That's gonna be a cold wind blowing. Other than that, the basic idea is a solid one for sure. Good luck with your project.

Cozy is the way to go! You'll be able to capture that stove heat better. I just did a 3 night stint in northern Minnesota in my Tent-Hut - with a 9 x 7 interior and 10 x 12 exterior. Since I spent the summer slowly building up double wattle willow walls with stuffed in straw clay slip insulation - I'll be fascinated to see how you do your walls. haha. I got 6 inch insulation but I had lots of holes. So this past trip I was stuffing in thermafill (blue jean borax) into some of the holes. haha.

From my experience with cabin's in Ontario and building them with open cell foam as a cheap way to insulate it when the temperature hits -25° C or less is more enjoyable. White open cell foam is cheaper than the blue or pink foam but for the walls it's the cheapest. Now if you can afford to pay for the blue foam which is good for mold resistance and won't soak up the water, a good 2" all around the tent. ⛺

Would it be possible to partition the big tent ? Perhaps, somehow, by hanging tarps or some other. Make a smaller void for your stove to handle. That would be cozy. Warmer on your back when sleeping.

While you were waning, philosophical about current events, I remembered the bible passage where we are told that this generation would by no means pass (the present one in place since the re-establishment of Israel) before the 2nd coming would occur. Seeing events unfold in recent weeks has you pondering the profound meaning. Your 'project' is, no doubt therapeutic. Our lives are so temporal here on this earth.

Ahahahaha! My ex-husband used to put ketchup on his scrambled eggs and on everything he ate! That used to drive me insane! After being divorced for a year, I realized I was judging every man I dated by Ketchup! I deliberately place the ketchup on the table and weeded out those who used it. I married the man who asked me why I had Ketchup as a condiment and if I actually ate it? I asked why and he answered, "I actually hate ketchup and find myself judging people who eat that nasty stuff!" I got up and threw the bottle in the trash and told him the truth. We fell madly in love, got married in February 1977, had 3 wonderful children and lived happily ever after without ketchup in our lives till he passed away peacefully in his sleep in 2005 from a aortae aneurysm. And now, strangely, I don't hate ketchup like I used to anymore.
