About Area 51. In late 2013, the government declassified a few several decades old classified files about Area 51. According to them, it's a really big military research laboratory for developing and testing stealth technology. The reason why its security is extremely tight is because it started during the cold war. They needed extreme certainty to ensure that the USSR could learn nothing about anything they were doing
