And yet another ring pour with the goal of creating an arctic scene look. It turned out as I wanted it and with only 2 colors in total. Pretty happy with the result :)

I 💙 blues, too! I'm very impressed that you were able to get the "wings" effect and have it look like glaciers in the Arctic sea! And I'm glad you added the glitter, it's just gorgeous!!

Katalyna Sexton sounds good :) yeah the environment is essential. Actually when the heat comes from below only all is good. But heat from above is dangerous to get cracks.

I haven't been able to watch KZfaq as much since classes began, but I'm so glad I decided to take a break from study to watch this video. I always enjoy and appreciate your videos, but this one..the painting is just so beautiful! Blues are always my favorites and it was nice to see a different style of ring pour. Really nice touch with the glitter, it was very subtle but really popped out when the sunlight hit it. Well done!

Thank you so much and kind of happy to distracted you a bit from your studies :) Not too long I hope but long enough to get your head free. That helped me a lot at school when I was too much into learning. Glad you liked the result and I honestly wished everyone could have that blue...Phthalocyanin blue in case you can get at least the color, if not the brand :))) I always try to film the results in sunlight if I get the chance...it makes the colors look just more natural.

Beautiful. I believe adding GAC800 will help a previously sealed, painted canvas, dry without risking any cracking when you have thick paints. I did a few pours on canvas boards with pouring medium, some float medium, and it was fine. I've read the GAC800 (Liquitex, or perhaps Golden?) will keep it from cracking. I'm new to pouring, and am just learning too. As for the additive people use to promote "cell" formation, some use 100% silicone oil mixed with the paint (treadmill or other lubricant), others use silicone variant hair conditioner. The reason it is added is to change the paint density. The lighter paints will rise up through the denser paints. I'm experimenting with working with metallics, as even with a silicone or adding water, metallics tend to sink to the bottom, and not show up. They tend to land on the canvas with other paints being visible above them on the surface. It's great to watch others sucesses with pouring. Many leave the pours as an artwork itself, others add to it, and drop paints into them, still others use them as backgrounds. What's the brand of acrylic binder you use? (Sorry, hard to understand on video). It that Artina as well? Here in the states, acrylic binders cost as much, if not more, than paints do. I'd love to get ahold as some binder to mix pigments into, yet they are rather pricey here in the US. Hopefully someone will come out with some more affordable, quality acrylic binders here! Thank you for sharing! Lotsa fun! Easy to mix too much paint! Always wondering how much will stick to the cups! Even still, you can burn through a lot of canvas and paints rather quickly with this method of painting. Still makes some beautiful paintings! I love working in very wet media myself, so this is a lotta fun! Dropping and dragging with toothpicks, chopsticks, etc. is very fun too! Love your videos! Your pastel drawings are amazing! Very nice work! Keep it up! Try some pearlescent, metallics, glitter & interference paints, even mixed media! Experimentation is the best! I'm working on multi-layer, glazing pours. Fun stuff!
@MKLGRMFineArt
@MKLGRMFineArt 5 жыл бұрын
the brand my paints are from is called Artina but they are only available in Europe as of now. The binder that I am using is from Guardi which is the 'House brand' from Boesner which again also is a European Art vendor....So both things you cannot really get in the US. But when it comes to medium most people still go with the Floetrol. I perhaps also would if it was less pricy...I switched to the binder in the first place as it was cheaper and stuck with it as it also worked better...so win win for me. :) Thanks for your super long comment

Watching you work is so inspirational. You make it look so easy. I am convinced one needs to have a gift for choosing the colours, the technique and then the right touch to get the result you obtain. Another beautiful artwork. Thanks for explaining how the artwork dries. I reused a canvas and the loved the outcome but it cracked as it dried. Thanks again.

MKL GRM Fine Art did the dark blue have glitter in the paint or did you add it and I missed it? I’ve watched it twice already. Is it okay if I share this to an artist site I’m a member of? Of course you can share the video. I am always happy when more people see my videos and get to know me :) And commissions are sweet always as well :DD The blue itself did not have any glitter in it, I added it when everything was dry. It felt like there was some sparkle missing and so I put the varnish layer on and sprinkled the glitter right on the varnish as long as it was wet :)

Stunning! Nice to see someone else uses Liquitex High Gloss as a Varnish too. Works really well as a cheaper alternative to resin in my opinion!
@MKLGRMFineArt
@MKLGRMFineArt 5 жыл бұрын
it does! Well when poured as a thick layer it perhaps makes not so much a difference to resin but it cures quicker and is easier to handle...
@artistrobfuller
@artistrobfuller 5 жыл бұрын
I tend to do about 3 layers brushed on evenly with a high-density foam brush pad instead of a bristle brush with 30 minutes in between depending on the size of the canvas and that comes out beautifully.
@MKLGRMFineArt
@MKLGRMFineArt 5 жыл бұрын
I recently started doing the same....When I want a resin look I just pour a thicker layer on it, spread it by tilting and let it dry. works awesome.
@artistrobfuller
@artistrobfuller 5 жыл бұрын
Ah cool, I never tried laying it on thicker and tilting as I was worried I'd waste too much of it but I suppose I could always let it drip off onto another piece that needs varnishing! Also, I once used Liquitex Pouring Medium as a varnish, I poured it on quite thick on a picture of an elephant I'd made and when it dried it crackled which wasn't what i wanted but looked really good - like elphant skin! So there's a tip for you, if you want a crackled finish to a painting, just lay on a thick layer of normal Liquitex pouring medium! !
@MKLGRMFineArt
@MKLGRMFineArt 5 жыл бұрын
Never tried that as I would not know if the pouring medium keeps up remaining clear over time...but good to know. I used just the amount I needed to not waste too much. I sprayed the canvas with water before so that the varnish glides better...When it comes to the elephant skin look...you can acieve that as well when you use a tiny amount of oils paint thinner and brush over the artwork and then varnish it...it cracks like an old oil painting...it can be removed again with adding more layers of varnish then

Love this! It is stunning and I never get tired of ring pours. Keep doing more! I'm having trouble though with the Liquetex varnish. I got the glossy and also a satin finish. I tried a large soft brush, a sponge brush, and a smaller brush but no matter how I do it, I'm left with a lot of brush marks. I hope you do your video on varnishing canvases soon! Thanks, as always for your great videos!

I plan to make the voiceover this weekend. As a small tip...I get super smooth results when you just pour it on the surface like a dirty pour and tilt the canvas to get an even finish. If you stray the canvas with water first it flows easier. You need a bit more of the varnish but once that thicker coat is dry it looks like resin. Only the ultra gloss or gloss one. The matt one does not work so good for that.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try pouring it. The problem seemed for me to be that it dries pretty fast and maybe I didn't work quickly enough. Thanks for making the video; I will watch for it!!

Laurie Latour yes I also wished it would dry a bit slower but the poured layer is thicker than using a brush so you get more time :)
