Ahoy there, sailors and sea enthusiasts! My name is Vasil and I am now living on, and restoring my sailboat. Are you ready to embark on a thrilling adventure with me? Join me on this exciting journey as I move onto a 1974 Columbia 45 sailboat and set up my workspace.
But wait, there's a catch! I can't just haul everything onto the boat in one go. Oh no, that would be too easy. Instead, I'll have to channel my inner pirate and use the trusty dinghy to ferry all of the equipment and supplies over to the boat.
The confined space of a sailboat can be tricky to work with, but fear not, I have plenty of tips and tricks up my sleeve to make the most of my limited space.
We'll explore all the nooks and crannies of the boat to find the perfect spot for my desk, chair, and any other equipment I need. We'll also need to make sure that everything is secure and won't go flying around when we're out at sea.
Thank you for watching!

What would be more hilarious would be a friend sitting in the chair😎The wood damage looks like dry rot from water leaks. I'm actually impressed with the desk, it fits in pretty good. The shelves I'm not sure, I would custom fit with fiddles rails. The chair I would put a couple pad eyes and bungee cord, you don't want that chair rolling around underway or bad weather. Anyway, keep up the good work Vasil, improvements take time, however the satisfaction is the payoff.

Haha, I don’t think that dinghy would have made the voyage with someone sitting in that chair. Agreed, the desk is great, the shelves not so much in their current state. This is all a big balance game in the name of progress. Thanks for the comment!

You’re getting there living aboard will save on travel time to work. Sucks your oars went walk about they must have needed them more than you. Love your dinghy and that fuel tank is awesome. Stay safe mate.

Thanks Craig, it really is exciting knowing how much more time I’ll have to work on this project. The dinghy is amazing! Light years ahead of where I used to be. There’s some upgrades I want to make so that it’s even better. Also, lesson learned, lock EVERYTHING. It’s a public beach, I constantly find myself telling kids not to mess with peoples dinghies lol.

Next time when I'll see a floating chair, at least this time I know where it came from haha

My wife, son, and I live on a 1972 Columbia CC45. Looks fairly close to your boat. Been getting her ocean ready at a marina outside of Portland Oregon. Maybe we will sail past one another some day.

Sounds like an amazing life, wish you all the best on the build up! If you're going to be heading south, and me north, perhaps we will sail past each other. Thanks for joining!

Good work I think you are on the right track with your logistics for living and working on the boat. A couple thoughts... My buddy installed IKEA kitchen cabinets on his boat and it turned out great, he simply trimmed the back off where it hit until it fit properly. It's a fiddly process but the end result is good. Second if you are going to be doing any sanding you will really want an air right door to keep your living area clean, I have used plastic taped in place with a zipper door for the purpose it's slightly annoying but better than a dusty bed. Speaking of tape scotch no residue duct tape is a lifesaver working on a boat as you can seal things up and still remove the tape easily even after weeks out in the sun. Keep up the good work.

Thank you! Trimming the shelves is a good idea. I am a little worried that the shelves I have are hollow… but at the end of the day they are temporary. If they can keep their integrity long enough for me to come up with a permanent solution it will be worth it. Good call on creating sealed areas, I’ll have to do that for certain. Keep all the dust away from the sleeping quarters. Great suggestions!

@@ambiguousglobetrotter when my buddy trimmed the IKEA cabinets they were basically hollow, it had like a paper honeycomb core. This actually made it easier to trim. If you are worried about them losing strength or deteriorating too fast, you could use something like cheap bondo to cover and reinforce the exposed areas. But like you say it is temporary and probably not worth the extra effort

Looks like the barge is helping you reduce trips at least. Sorry to hear of the theft of your oars.

Really is, that old dinghy is proving to be quite useful for transport. So much different when you don’t have to ride in a dinghy full of stuff, just tow it behind you lol.

you need to check freon gas type your fridge uses, if its consumer grade- it wont be efficient and will suck alot of power you dont need bungie for your chair, just get a small rope, tie it to both of shoulders through a loop or couple on its leg, it will add friction and chair ll stop spinning around so easily, but will still be adjustable

Hmmm, I didn’t think of the gas type. Good call on this. What type of fridge do you think would work well?
