One thing my father always said that I agree with is, no one ever regrets learning something. Take every chance you can to learn things. I see people always saying that UTI and other Technician schools are a waste of money and bla bla bla... Sure learning by starting at the bottom works but take two guys, one that went to UTI and one that didn't... the guy that went to school has a head start.

I think money wise I would have chosen a community automotive school to attend. My apprentice is at a brand specific community automotive school. I dont regret the experience and I did learn alot from the awesome teachers.

You might think that the UTI student has the advantage, but you'd be wrong. Employers don't like to see UTI on resumes. Starting at the bottom and working up is cheaper than UTI and you can be as successful as your drive without the mega debt that UTI will bring you.

LIsten, to all the people saying that UTI or other trade schools are a waste don't know what they're talking about. What you have to understand is, when you go apply at a dealership or shop and you have on your resume that you completed an automotive trade school that looks a hell of a lot better then some kid with no experience looking to learn the trade. Most shops and dealerships are way too busy to have some inexperienced kid looking over their shoulder to teach them anything. Plus, that inexperienced kid has to go buy tools on a lube techs salary ($10.00) maybe 11. Now, if you're a student at UTI you get snap-on tools for 50% off while you are attending the program. Another pro is that UTI has companies that come into the school and offer on-the-spot interviews for students. If you come into this school and really put it the effort and learn what you are supposed to, this school will set up way better than going to learn in a shop for 5 years under a grumpy mechanic who doesn't really give a shit about your success. Dont listen to the haters.

Thanks for making this video. This video is helpful since I've been deciding to go off to UTI next year. I've worked for countless Chrysler dealers ever since 2013 when I was in high school. Im 24 yrs old and Im currently at my third Chrysler dealer. I've done the Dealerconnect training Chrysler dealers offer but I've sadly have not been moved up to apprentice. Im not your typical worker who will sit and do nothing. Im clockwork telling pocket pools over in the corner to find something to do before they get in trouble. I have been Express tech for 3 years and I get you have to do some time in Express. I look at UTI because I look to commit and learn everything I can at UTI. My goals to build racecars, restore cars and build a Motorsports career as a racecar driver. I just cant get enough racecar! Im not after the whole Nascar scenery but I look towards IMSA, Continental Sportscar Challenge, NHRA. Ive watched countless videos on peoples opinions and I am still deciding on whether to go to UTI or not.

I went to UTI Phoenix Arizona I started January 16th 2001 that was my first day of class, and this gentleman is right about a lot of things but he's only touching the surface, the school is great!!! The amount of debt you incur is minimal compared to the amount of money you'll make every year I took Auto Diesel transport Refrigeration Hydraulics and pneumatics which was everything UTI in Phoenix Arizona had to offer I'm sorry I also took hydraulic Ford F.A.C.T and I took International as a graduate program that was all they had to offer and I got a personal living assistance lone at the end of it all my monthly payment was under $200 every single penny is worth it I can't emphasize that enough... I'm going to make my own video about UTI and much more detail and we'll see how that goes

Everything UTI had to offer me from the personal experiences I had with the instructors to the money I make now was a major plus in my life the college experience alone was something every young person should have I would strongly recommend universal technical institute to any person young or old who is considering the program

I was 6694 while I was in from 2001-2006, so I stuck with the computer field.... It pays well and enough to support my single income household and my hobbies pretty well. I went to UTI mainly to support my hobbies and to get cheap tools. If anything..... Keep learning and keep your head up. You will come across allot of fucksticks in the real world. You just gotta deal with it. The sad part is........ You can't make them fill sandbags like the Corps does.

Typically an A.A.S in Automotive Technology degree at most state-supported community colleges costs less than $10,000. Plus this is a 2-yr degree that can be used towards a 4-yr degree in the future. I taught in a state-supported program and I placed students in dealerships as paid techs in their 2nd semester. Most of them worked about 30 hours a week at the dealer and went full time as soon as they graduated. I highly recommend that students first check to see if their state offers the A.A.S in Automotive Technology program and compare it to the private school option.

Hello, I’m a junior in HS and I just applied to UTI in Sacramento. I payed for a spot. I was planning on taking automotive and Diesel. Looking at many reviews I’ve seen many pros and cons but what grabbed my attention the most was paying A LOT of money for basic classes. Personally is it worth it and did it benefit you?

I stayed in the automotive gas side at a dealership. From my circumstances it was not 100% worth it . I did learn alot but not enough to be ready as a technician. It turned out great for me but I know alot of people I went to school with that are not in this field anymore.

Hey man I'm thinking into enrolling into UTI and just wondering if I should join UTI. People recruiting me to go there is just telling me the good stuff. He even said I could make 82k a year by my 6th year with ase certification which sounds too good to be true. I have little to no experience with working with cars. Never took classes with it. I learned by my Best friend who is EXTREMELY into cars who told me I should join UTI and researched automotive jobs and seen they make pretty good money. Should I join UTI with the little experience i have do you think ill do fine? and have you ever met anyone with the same situation as me.

Are you specially trying to be a independent technician which works on all makes and models ? Or a technician who works at a dealership and works on a few makes? I've seen plenty of people who joined uti with no experience and do well and some who failed . There is plenty of money in this field I have a few friends who hit 100 I but took them 10 plus years to hit. I have not hit that just yet . I'm hitting my 8th year. I'm between 50 to 100k

Looking back, when I first graduated UTI I thought it was more useful than it was Unfortunately, the reality of it is, if you don’t find a shop willing to let you apply the knowledge you’re learning at school while you’re at work as well, you lose a lot of it over time. The most educational portion of my career has been the last year of actual hands on and being sent to factory training for work I’m actually doing so that I can get both theory and hands on and make those connections in my head

@@410AutoTech It should equal out to a bachelor's degree, due to the fact it's well over 30 grand. The other bullshit part to this school is that they say jobs are everywhere. That saying dryed up during the 40's. I realized the instructor's have family in or their children in the UTI program's and always put them in front of the list of every job available. So it's that classic question again why bother? And the starting pay is minimum wage. When I heard that part I almost let out huge laugh. Minimum wage for this type of work. It's not worth it especially with student loans that never seem to want to come down in numbers.
