Newel Post to Staircase Connection - Improved with NO MUSIC!

An updated video with no music on how to install a newel post at the bottom of a staircase. Step-by-step instructions on how to find the rake angle of the stairs, determine the height of the post with a story-pole, cut the stair stringer, notch the post and make the connection with lag screws and construction adhesive.

Great work Scott, I watched it twice for support. I love the following: -Taking and applying tips from your viewers to continue to grow -Doing the job right even if it means paying a bit more -Added branding at the end Keep up the great work and a couple of methods I use for notching are 1. Circular saw to start nice straight square cuts, sawzall next, and lastly a chisel. Option 2. A Miter saw adjusting the depth gauge with a sacrificial piece of wood between the fence and your post.

Thank you Dan. I like the idea of the mitre saw and may try that. I have started using a marking gauge as well and may show that the next time I do a post install. What kind of stain did you use there? Looks great

Thank you Derrick. That is two coats of Minwax Ebony. The second coat was a little troublesome and needed to be wiped continually for a few hours after application. Perhaps best to do one coat only with that product. Cheers, Scott
