In its heyday, the large HVA sugar mill at Ngadiredjo had a considerable allocation of mainly Mallets. However, by the time I started to visit regularly, the field lines had been closed with most of the locomotives sent to other mills in the area, particularly the new one at Pesantren. Those that were left led an increasingly quiet life as the mill seemed to prefer to use bullocks for shunting.
On this occasion maybe the mill was 'down', but nothing was moving, even the bullocks were idle. Ducroo and Brauns Mallet 0-4-4-0T 210 ran up the yard to justify the fee which had been extorted to make the visit, it was the only video I ever took here. I only visited if one or more members of my tour party wanted to see as much 'steam' as possible.
