That Nissan is nice that way you have set up

Nissan knew about this problem back in 2005, 2 year old Navaras in the North of Scotland were suffereing terminal chassis rust back then.

For that to happen the metal coating must be near zero. Terrible. We have 30 year old farm utes with chassis as good as new (nearly) and no rust issues like that even though they live in dirt and moisture. Haven't Nissan heard of galvanizing ? LOL The metal must be paper thin. That's pathetic.

Hi, have a Navara myself and want to get it checked. Similar spec to yours, without the canopy and its 07, love it. Have taken a look at chassis myself and nowhere near as bad as yours looked but want to be sure.Did you go through Nissan Ireland, and if so what's the process and possible outcomes do you know? I rang Nissan customer service and the lady just talked round in circles denying any knowledge of what the process is. She said book it in to a dealer to have checked and then you'll be told what your options are after they test it. Bit worried though as I'd like to know how long I might be without a vehicle for, what is a reasonable amount to expect as a payout if it fails etc., and have heard they're now sending them to Spain to be fixed as well! I just want to be informed before going to a garage and getting options put to me on the spot. Any info would be appreciated, cheers.

Dear sir: have you considered the sort of issue electrolysis and corrosion on the chassis and earth wires.

this happened to mine, I rang nissan, they sent out someone to inspect it, he said don't drive it any more. Nissan contacted me with a very good settlement price as well as 20-25% of any nissan!!

Is that an issue with the Frontier Pro4x in the US?

they gave my mate 6k for his but nothing for mine. I guess it's how you look after them.

Hope all goes well for you mate, Nissan really fucked up on their chassis by not treating them, it's not like a motor you can replace, can't replace a chassis

Nissan Ireland take note....I have an 11 reg Navara with a recently discovered faulty chassis. The jeep is in show room condition and I was offered 9k as its current value + 6K compensation by the Nissan dealer who sold it to me. The offer is only if I agreed to buy a 191 Navara for 43k here in Ireland. I consider it a bad deal as the value they put on my jeep was at least 3k short and the dealer added 3k onto the price of a new model (new one can be got for 40k in a straight deal). So really I would end up without the 6k in the deal offered by Nissan. I declined the offer and I was less than impressed with the Nissan dealer when he wished me the "best of luck getting insurance for it". I think Nissan Ireland would want to get their act together and treat their loyal customers more like Nissan do in other country's. Advice to Nissan on sorting out your bad Navara chassis here in Ireland, if you want to continue to have a business selling jeeps here, two things to remember about Ireland.....Number 1. The Irish talk... a lotNumber 2. No matter how hard we try.... the Irish cant forget.Correct me if I'm wrong but the problem with the faulty chassis goes all the way up to 161 reg!!!!!!!

Shame you didn't climb under there sooner and do some rust prevention, In the uk Cavity wax and chassis treatments are a must, One of the reasons why my l200 & mx5 still look like new on the underside. All repairable but you will be chasing rot for the rest of its life

Any pick-up needs treating really within the first 18 months of its life at least.

$40 on some plastic wheel arches would have prevented that. Shame Nissan couldn't be bothered to spend the little money needed. Or correctly treat the chassis rails Do you drive on salted roads or on the beach? Doesn't seem to happen as bad in Australia, just everything else fails, like the timing chain, the ABS sensors, the Fuel system, the Clutch, pretty much anything in the engine bay period!

I've just saved a navara from braking in half bit of a shit show from Nissan really but hay ho. You can buy strengthin plates and have them welded in to the chassis

Just fill it with liquid metal and paint it.

thats why im never buy nissan..besides those parts are expensive
