Thank you for saying that it takes 2-4 days to know for sure if something bothers you. That's the one question i keep wondering about. I am going to start low fodmap in a couple of weeks.

I love this girl's energy , optimism and positive outlook. She is totally focused on the benefits of feeling healthy as opposed to being negative about the foods that were necessary to sacrifice . Its such a stark contrast to the earlier reaction video you did about Abbey, where her focus was totally on how hard it was to sacrifice certain favourite foods. As a newbie to fodmap, I personally found Abbeys vid to be a real downer. I have been on a fodmap plan for almost 5 weeks now and even though i needed to sacrifice (at least temporarily) some of my faves like onions, garlic, and wheat pasta , i have never for a moment felt that i am being deprived , either appetite-wise, or nutritionally. Even if i had to stay on a fodmap diet forever, it offers so much variety and satiating protein that it really wouldnt be a hardship like some restrictive fad diets. I never end my day feeling hungry. I do suggest though that the fodmap would be a whole different level of difficulty if I were adhering to a vegan or plant based diet.

Regarding Stress: OMG, same! Except that my bowels do the opposite. Worried about something? Poo! Excited about something? Also, poo! Upset about something? Believe it or not , also, poo! My Nan used to call it my, “nervous stomach”. Editing as I’m continuing to watch: regarding reintroduction…I found it difficult to get out of this phase bc I had been so sick for so long and finally was feeling better - I was terrified to cause myself more sicknesses.

That type of nervous stomach reaction is actually quick common in my experience after working with people. I think it can be improved over time as your enteric nervous system becomes less sensitized. I know it can be really hard to reintroduce because of that reason. I went through it also. Just remember that even tho the official FODMAP diet says to do 10 weeks of reintroductions in a row, you can go slowly and space them out more. I think it’s just important to not give up and get too rigid and restrictive overall. Also, try and develop some strategies that work for you when you do have reactions so you know how to care for yourself when that does happen. I shared a few that work well for me. I linked a video with them in the description.😉☺️

Thank you for your videos. I find them very informative and helpful. I just want to say, that I have been in the elimination phase for at least 4 year now and haven't moved past that. LOL I was so sick before I started the LFM diet that once I eliminated all the HFM foods I felt much better. I guess I'm scared to introduce foods because when my stomach goes south, it goes for at least 2 week.... sick stomach, headache, bubbly gas, feeling lousy. So I would rather not introduce anything more out of fear. I bought the Monash app and that really confused me. Lots of foods I had read were LFM are actually HFM! Tomatoes, corn, strawberries, to name a few, Some were ok canned but not raw and visa versa, but they seem to be ok with me. So thank you again for your videos.

Hi Molly! I’m glad you’re feeling better! My sister has been stuck in the elimination phase for years also, and I honestly don’t know how to help her. I wish I knew what to say. As for the monash app - they provide LFM serving sizes of HFM foods, because (depending on your level of sensitivity) fodmaps are only thought to cause symptoms once they pass a certain threshold. And the reason why certain foods are lower in fodmaps when canned is because fodmaps are water soluble and they diffuse out of the food and into the canning liquid, so as long as you rinse it, it’s lower in fodmaps. I hope that was at least helpful. I wish you the best of luck on your digestive journey.❤️

For me it's the Glyphosate I think. I can't eat even gluten-free oatmeal because it's covered in it.

GF oats get me too! It could be totally be the glyphosate, but I remember reading somewhere that the physical structure of oat protein is so similar to gluten that it can also trigger a reaction because of the binding mechanism of the immune system or something like that. Is that true? Who knows! I think we may never get to the bottom of exactly why we’re allergic to certain things, but I don’t really think it matters that much. I just don’t eat oats now. Learned that lesson. lol

Rice needs to be really soaked before you cook it and make sure it is cooked well.

I haven’t tried soaking but I want to to see if it makes a difference. I def wash it really well though and I feel like that totally makes a difference.

FYI I am doing a low FODMAP + candida diet while vegan and it is possible. You do not need meat, eggs, or dairy! If you want to stick with your morals and if you're healthy, you can do this!

Takes more than 4 days for my body, especially my digestion to reset from a reaction 🙁
@gritandgroceries
@gritandgroceries 8 ай бұрын
Agreed, I started to feel better after 4 days, but for severe reaction (gluten is the worst for me) it does take about 2 weeks to fully get out of my system. You’re right about that. Waiting 2 weeks between tests tho, would take FOREVER. It’s also totally okay to take a break if you do have a severe reaction. I like to look at this does as guidelines rather than hard and fast rules because we’re all different. Thanks for the comment!
