Part 4 of our new Yamaha R1 track bike build for Trade Watches UK.
In this video we fit the gorgeous Ohlins TTX rear shock and L74 quick change rear wheel kit along with new DID race chain and Talon sprockets!
We discuss how to measure the rear shock, how new chains stretch/bed in and about wheelbase and wheel alignment.

Nice work work Sam. What could be a good bit of info to pass on is the torque settings you use as track settings might slightly Differ from road.

Hi, thanks for the comment! I'm always happy to share torque settings I use with my customers but have specifically kept that sort of information off the videos mainly for liability reasons 😁

Thanks Sam, great video. I'm going to change the suspension as well. What are the tork values for the 3 bolts/axes when putting the suspension back?

argh... I was really hoping you'd get that swing arm machined to lengthen the wheelbase as I'm thinking of doing that to my bike atm hahaha Next time, I guess ;)

We're not doing it on this bike as we are keeping the wheelbase in an area which keeps the bike nimble for fast European tracks. It's an easy enough job to get done though, we have a couple of machine shops locally who do the job for us.

Hi Sam, thanks for doing the videos i have found them very informative and learnt a lot. What make and size torque wrench do you use ? Is there any that are accurate and reasonably priced, without spending snap on money ? Thanks

Hi James, I highly recommend the Halfords Professional ones, they are reasonably priced and are actually made by Beta for Halfords and are really easy to set and read the scale👍..My collection includes a few of them and a couple of Norbar ones which are very good but more £££.

Whats the reason for the LH thread on the quick change kit?

Good question, I'm guessing that because their spindles always go in from the left side (so in general the exhaust isn't in the way of using your breaker bar) then the wheel rotation is the same direction as tightening the spindle, just a safety idea I guess. I will check that with the manufacturer and edit the comment if necessary.

This has been confirmed by the manufacturer, we know it's highly unlikely a spindle would ever come loose but it's peace of mind for the customer that it tightens in the same direction as wheel rotation. 😁👍
