Uh... no? That's called being a blind follower. A REAL One Piece fan will enjoy any form it's in, but still throw criticism when it's needed. Like, I love One Piece, I do....but come on, the anime ROYALLY fucked up Dressrosa by dragging it out for WAY TOO LONG. Not to mention all of the UNNECESSARY and CONSTANT showings of Rebecca's flashback story. Or the fact that most of the episodes during that arc wasted, like, the first 5 or so minutes doing summaries and the typical OP song, and combined with the usual next episode summary tease, the actual episode itself only had about 15-ish minutes of new content. I'm sorry, but they completely BUTCHERED Dressrosa in the anime with the pacing of it. But was it still cool to finally see Gear 4th animated for the first time? Absolutely! Or seeing everything else that happened play out animated? Absolutely I enjoyed seeing all of that! I love One Piece. But I'm also not gonna blindly eat it up and say it's the greatest thing ever and it's the most perfect media there is. I will criticize when it's needed, and will praise when it's needed. That is what a true One Piece fan is. Appreciate everything Oda has done for his series, but still give criticism when it's necessary to.

@@WeebsnWeights Yes I got the "making movie" idea when ou established the scenes comparison, but I watched old movies like "Captain Horatio Hornblower" (1951 with Gregory Peck), Black Pirate, Captain Blood, Victor Fleming version of Treasure Islands (1934)... Most likely these kind of movies inspired both Eiichiro Oda and Liz Braswell and Carla Jablonsky group. In fact its kind of weird how cinema did abandon "pirates" theme since 70's considering the past popularity. I don't know how this live action will gonna make it, but I'm pretty sure that this Alvida ship attack is one of the few sea battles of this work (I don't remind if have another apart from Alabasta escape - usually they fight inland)

Totally get where you're coming from, I was focusing on the cgi application, decisions on how they shot certain scenes etc. I dont think its a bad thing to have elements that feel similar, that means theyre doing something right when it comes to creating irl world for this imo!

You are both right. Buggy is *supposed* to be a serious guy/threat and he sees himself as one. Unfortunately, the universe (plot) soon starts putting him in situations where it's clear he is WAY above his head, and he gets through out of sheer dumb luck 98% of the time. Especially whenever Luffy is even just tangentially involved

Thats exactly my thought. All the live actions have tried to make them 'work' instead of making them what they are! This is the first one that seems like it goes all in! Oda said in a letter to fans on one piece day that there was no compromises. If he said it, I believe it.

Hang on, those were time stamps for the orgial trailer. You can see them in your video at 4:05 for the slide on the right. Then 4:08 in the back for "Shark Attack" and the ghost train. Then again closer at 6:56 for Ghost Train behind Sanji

@@WeebsnWeights I mean, that's not really a bad thing. My hopes and all that is just low, because we all know how Live Action-versions of anime usually goes. A part of me would love for them to absolutely crush it, but yeah. Best to keep hopes and expectations low/mid, so that you don't get disappointed. If it then turns out really good, it will feel better because they exceeded your expectations. It's worse to have extreme high hopes and then having it not be as good as your own expectations 😅 P.S: I hope I made at least some sense. I'm known to ramble on too much. So much so that I every now and again even confuse myself, lol !

Tough couple of frames to analyze but if you go to 0.25 speed and look frame by frame it looks like something is in his mouth right at the start of him jumping. Oda wouldn't have let that slide we'll be good!

That's one way to look at it for sure, but that would mean Muppets treasure island and Hook also had the same vibe, which didn't pop into my head as a comparison. I was pointing more to the fact of the cgi and choice of how they shot scenes. Pirates was super successful, so I considered it a compliment!
