Them getting with the rebound not only gives you clarity on the reality of the situation, it buys you time to get in shape and reinvent yourself

Probably already been said, but my buddy put it this way that struck a cord for me: No matter what mental issues, depression, confusion your ex felt that caused the breakup, of they come back remorseful and wanting to make up after a rebound, think of this: You’ve been improving yourself. Your mental health. Your physical well being. Your career. Your intelligence. You have improved. Meanwhile, what have they done? They’ve been with other dude/chick. You are only demeaning yourself if you get back with them and that’s not self-love.

By the time your ex decides to reach out and contact you again, you probably will have moved on completely with your life, which is obviously the best thing to do. You'll most likely hear from them at a random time, when you've picked up the pieces of your life and when you're doing well on your own two feet and not thinking of them any longer. You probably won't see them in the same light as you once did when you two were together and in love, because you will have grown so much since you last saw them, but people do change their minds and feelings change over time. Some people decide to start a clean slate, some decide to just stay friends, and some decide they are better off with no ties to their ex. Just keep in mind, when your ex dumped you they thought they could do better. But when they decide to come back around you'll be 10xs the person you were when they last saw you and the ball will be in your court

I know it’s hard, but don’t look @ a rebound like a negative. That only makes them realize there’s only one of you. My best friend and his girlfriend were together for a year and split because they were both going through things. After6 months they came back together and both admitted to messing with someone else. They got back together and now have been together for the last 8 years. If it’s meant to work it will. Just focus on bettering yourself atm!

Depending on the person, ignoring the person does work. Don’t be friends with an ex while they’re with a rebound. You’re giving them the best of both worlds

The signs that someone is rebounding with you is, they call you babe on a first date. They want you to stay the night a lot. They will give you the love they wanted to give to the previous person. They might even tell you they love you in a weeks time. Then one day they disappear or their communication gets less frequent and you already know who they are back talking to. No expectations, no heartbreak.

After the rebound you should just leave them alone, move on, the world is full of interesting people

Many would disagree, but I think, that people who can forgive are the strong ones. Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that moving on is weak. I'm just saying that it's not wrong to let an ex back into your life. Forgiving someone and not taking revenge is a sign of strength of the heart, which few posses.

guys, remember anybody who has a rebound relationship did this because its too hard to accept the breakup. its a psychological response to stress. they dont even know what theyre doing. my ex found a guy after a few days. they are now doing everything that we used to do together and its been 2 weeks. it baffled me at first, but i realize shes going to have to go through the stages for her to realize she just wants me back.

To the men specifically: I know you love them. I know you do. I still love my ex more than anything. BUT, she rebounded. She threw out what we had and is getting railed by another man. I’ll never take her back. She strung me along for 6 months and was with him the entire time. She dug her grave and now she has to lie in it. Don’t take them back, RESPECT yourself more than that. Sometimes we have to view our relationship from another perspective view, even if they sexually/emotionally cheated and chose a rebound over you. Why you two broke up? And when he/she was with you, did they treat you right? If they treated you right, focus on the reason for breaking up, did you treat them right, or did you neglect them in some way, or not give them enough attention? Do not focus on his/her rebound because it’s their problems to be solved not yours. It’s just their way to heal their pain so let them do it and they will learn a lesson. Not all the people are cheating or having a rebound that they are narcissistic or underestimate your value, maybe just because they have some past trauma and self-esteem, unlovable issues to heal and to learn. Trust me they maybe didn't want to hurt you but when they don't know how to love themselves, how could they love you the right way? Learn to solve your problem first and respect your exes if they did love you and treat you right before. Do not judge a whole person for just one mistake they did. If you see clearly that they aren't worth fighting for, just moving on with your life.

I listened to this and it helped me realize that I was the rebound relationship. I don’t think he ever moved on from his wife, and he tried to make me the light at the end of the tunnel. That was hard to realize but it helped me move on. To all of those going through a breakup , it gets better. Focus on yourself and know that it’s better to be alone than to be with someone who doesn’t love or appreciate you.

I've had exes who rebounded quickly after I left them (we're talking less than a month). I've had periods of a year or more between partners. No FWB arrangements in that time. If my ex who left me engaged in a rebound, I'd lose some respect for him. He built himself up as a person with high morals. A rebound would run counter to the values he supposedly holds. If I ever found out I was the rebound girl, I would lose it. No one deserves to be the rebound person.

My story: My ex dumped me after five years of romance, eight years of friendship. She'd been thinking about leaving me for at least a year, maybe as long as two years, so she had a lot of time to process this. I'm sure it was hard for her and hurt, but she did it. There was, on my part, no cheating, abuse, judging, gaslighting, not communicating, etc. But I still wasn't good enough for her. She just felt she wasn't getting what she needed from me and I didn't measure up or prove my love to her. I'd been in a few relationships in my life. I was in my fifties when I fell in love with her. She was my one. Deep. True. We were friends. Really. There was commitment, companionship. She even acknowledged that. We were family. It was easy being with her. Until it wasn't. I was happy, at peace. I didn't fear she would leave. I was naive, trusting, and missed signals. She actually talked about how she was a catch, and men were interested in her. She was a restless, discontented, "grass is greener" somewhere else person. She was in a rebound relationship within two weeks of me leaving. That only lasted for a few weeks. She jettisoned that poor slob and was immediately with someone else. That next rebound relationship lasted almost two years. He was physically/verbally abusive, according to her. How do I know? She came to see me right after she finally broke up with him. She was emphatic in stating that there was no chance for us and never would be and that I shouldn't get my hopes up. I did, of course, and I didn't play it well. Shot myself in the foot several times. It was only AFTER this happened that I stumbled across tutorials from Coach Lee, and several others (Clay Andrews, Coach Corey, Dr. Les Carter, Alan Robarge, etc.) that talked about how people will say one thing, but it's not always what's really going on, or a state of mind that's set in stone and will never change...and that often people will say the opposite of what's really going on in their hearts. Often, they don't even know their own minds/hearts. But when she came back to have an "anniversary drink" with me, I didn't know this stuff. I accepted everything she said at face value and I panicked and I blew it. (Though, in the long run, it's for the best as she was an immature narcissist who lacked/lacks empathy, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, acceptance, etc.I still love her, but she has her own path and a long way to go. ) Within a week, or two, of seeing me - to "test the waters" perhaps? - she started yet ANOTHER new relationship which continues to this day. Maybe this one will stick. If not, she'll very likely get right into yet ANOTHER relationship. How she rolls, for all the reasons Coach Lee touches on. She's a long way, if ever, from taking a year or two to get in touch with herself, grow up, find peace, forgiveness, grace, clarity, and so much else. MY LESSONS: Sometimes a love that can seem SO real, SO good, SO deep, meaningful, true and beautiful, even healthy, can be one-sided. We can create entire realities in our heads and hearts that the other person doesn't share, even when it seems so much like they are. It's heartbreaking because often the two of you can even have wonderful conversations about how this is a shared reality! What's a person to do when there is such deception? When what seems like a strong castle is, instead, a house of cards built on sand? It's frustrating. It's life. Yes, there are red flags and signs, but sometimes, even the older-but-wiser among us can be duped. SO, learn how this person interacts with their family. How they feel about them, how they treat them. Huge lessons there. Learn how they treated their romantic partner before you, if there was one. Watch. What they say and do. Especially what they DO! If they kick you to the curb when you've done nothing really wrong - there was no cheating, lying, abuse, ignoring/taking for granted, emotional abuse, shaming, manipulating, etc. - EVEN if they were the love of your life, count your blessing they left and NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER take them back. Understand what they did, that it was likely hard for them, even if they're a narcissist/sociopath/borderline personality. (Though narcs and the like don't take it very hard in the scheme of things. Plus, that's one of the purposes of the rebound relationship. Transference, distraction, emotionally-medicating, status, replacement/repudiation of you, etc.) Have that compassion and empathy and remember the good times and the love that was there - at the very least on your side (and give yourself some good credit for that!) - but MOVE ON. Realize that anyone who REALLY saw you, accepted you, valued you, and cared about you, would never have kicked you to the curb because of their own confusion and restlessness. That's their unprocessed, unresolved baggage. They projected it all on you, and blamed you. In the end, they DIDN'T care about you, they DIDN'T love you, they DIDN'T value you, they DIDN'T take your feelings into consideration. They put themselves first based on their own biases, fears, unresolved anger, demons, blame, shame, grief, abandonment issues, etc. Not that you have no personal responsibility or acted flawlessly or perfectly, but in most cases, when you have been "true blue" and acted with the best honor, integrity, loyalty, vulnerability and honest communication you could muster AND THEY STILL KICKED YOU TO THE CURB, move on, consider yourself lucky, learn, respect yourself, value that you can love that much, selflessly. Take some time to heal, settle down, find some peace, accept, forgive, find clarity. I've taken four years, now in my fifth year. I've struck out in all my relationships, going back 40 years, so I'm done. (I had a tradition of picking narcissists/borderline personalities/sociopaths, so that's my stuff! Finally figuring it out! Better late than never, thank God!) I recommend to anyone to take at least a year break. If it was a really deep, long-time (three years or more) love, two or even three years is ideal. But there's no set timetable. Everyone is different. BUT an absolute for ALL: Do NOT jump into a rebound relationship! DO.NOT. Finally, if they want to stay in touch in some way, be friends, etc., and you're in a place where you can manage that, by all means, do that. But be wary, and guard your heart. This is now all about you and self-care. Often, they may just want to see if you're still on the hook, feed their ego, etc., especially if they're the immature, confused, unconscious person they sure acted like when they kicked you to the curb and did the serial rebound relationship trip! It's almost mathematical. QED. Cause and effect. Where there's smoke, there's fire...Blah blah. You thought you saw their true colors, a la the Cyndi Lauper song. NOW, actually see their REAL True Colors. BUT see yours first! That's a super-power. Then, you can take on virtually anything, handle anything. Good luck! (And luck is a major player in love, unfortunately.)

never tell how you feel . let them imagine , never give certainty . when you tell them what they want to hear . she knows she is at safe place so she can look up for new stuff , but if you dont give that validation . she will be only thinking about you just because they are unsure about how you feel that is the first step of falling in love , we are in a bad mood and always thinking about them cuz we are uncertain about how they feel about us . we dont get that validation cuz we are not hearing about them so we are thinking about and obssessing about them . it is just a ego game we need to out grow this , if they tell you right away i missed you all day i love you so much etc. then we will lose respect and forget about obsessive thoughts about them cuz we are sure and valideted now . you see how funny brain works .

I had always suspected that people will 'force' a relationship that was born out of a bad breakup or a cheating situation or even other factors such as family disapproval etc. in order to 'prove' that the choice that was made, was in fact the 'correct choice', I did not know there was a term for it. People who do this will put up with negative behaviors that they would not have previously had done if only to prove to themselves that they were right, it's not sustainable.

These videos have helped me so much! However I've also come to the realization that I was likely a rebound as well. Went through all these phases, and once I ended it he was with someone else within a week 😅 my ego was shattered but now after 3 months I feel indifferent toward him, wish him the best and sincerely hope he's capable of following through for this new girl. I think the hardest thing is your anxiety will tell you they're everything for her they could never be for you when in reality they're still their same dismissive selves but the relationship hasn't had enough time to self destruct. Heal yourself and attract healed people. ❤️

Thank you coach lee. Two days ago I found out my ex of 11 years got into a rebound 2 weeks after he broke up with me. The worst is I had no clue especially because he was keeping my hopes by saying he loves me every two weeks. By saying I am the one, that he wants to have kids with me and build a family. And then I find out while he was constantly telling me this that he was with a persons. Even when I confronted him he still says he loves me and I’m the one. That he is/was with her because she gave him things I didn’t give him. When I found out I was super understanding with him. However the day after (yesterday) I still tried to keep my calm but at night I was mad and angry and upset. Thank you for this video, I will do exactly what you said showing understanding and stepping way from all this drama. Needless to say I feel completely betrayed and also feel sorry for the girl because she doesn’t even know he was all this time speaking with me and that we had sex several times while he was with her (I had sex with him not even knowing that he was with her). Hey coach, I'm not sure if this will get lost in the comments or not but you have such great advice. My ex left me around 7 months ago and I stumbled upon your channel. My original plan when her and I were together was to move closer to her after I got out of the Navy at the end of this year, since we were about 5 hours apart. I was to focused on her that I didn't focus on myself. I was torn between moving closer to my family and being with her. Now that I followed your advice and did no contact, I've been feeling so much better. I'm registered for college full time with a part time job working in a hospital already set up and I'll be closer to my family. I don't even want her back and you've helped me focus on myself so much. Anyone who walks out on your life and gives up on you for someone else is not worth having you in your life. My ex (now boyfriend again) went into a rebound relationship and I had no clue until he told me upon getting together. Throughout the painful breakup, I listened to coach lee daily and went into complete no contact around 2 months after the breakup. My ex got in touch at around the 52 day mark and was very clear that I was the one for him! You HAVE TO listen to coach Lee and do the work. I started studying, I changed my hair, nail colour etc and started feeling good. The key thing is that the work needs to continue even when you get back together. Having a strong sense of self is attractive to a man. Keep going, no contact works!!!!
