I found it a form of continued child abuse when the defense painted Millie as a liar and it is good to learn here that she has people like this compassionate and competent psychotherapist to give credibility to the child’s voice.

If I were a defense attorney, I would never risk pissing off the jury by basically calling an abused child a liar. I'd have advised these monsters to throw themselves on the mercy of the court and beg for forgiveness because there's no way she was ever going to be able to sell this as a choking death. But I'm not an attorney. Lol

I agree. As a victim of emotional and violent child abuse myself as a child, I desperately needed someone like her.... but had no one (Canada). Here I am today, a grown adult woman with severe PTSD that never takes a day off from torturing me. I really hope this case (as well as the many others) truly educates the public in what things to pay attention to and look for. For example, as a child, in the very hot summer months, I was purposely dressed head to toe in long pants and long sleeves in order to cover up the plethora of multi-coloured bruises and lacerations that covered my body. Should someone ever catch a glimpse of something, I’d been brain washed and programmed to say that I was a klutz who was constantly falling and bumping into things. NOT TRUE AT ALL! Above all, I was tremendously embarrassed to ever admit that my grandmother who had guardianship over me (and hid the fact from me that she wasn’t really my birth mother) didn’t love me and severely abused me. It was mortifying for me. She also spread lies about me to tarnish my reputation - before I was even old enough to HAVE the type of reputation she’d falsely created for me. As I grew up and started to understand the context of the rumours and lies she was spreading about me, it was beyond humiliating and disgusting! For years, despite my fear of her, I tried desperately to win her love. I was unsuccessful. Ugh, I need to stop rambling on here.... I only meant to suggest that people need to get involved when they see something WEIRD happening - such as a child ALWAYS being dressed in a fleece-lined jogging suit (or the likes of) in the dead of summer (to point out only 1 thing). The kid isn’t just ‘strange’ or maybe ‘always cold’, etc. Those are assumptions the average person may have - especially when the child “appears to be” happy and smile a lot! My happy face was a facade based on my embarrassment that my ‘mother’ hated me and openly screamed that in my face during the beatings (which involved anything close to her that she could grab and use as a weapon). It was a nightmare... and growing up and moving on in life is not a cure because PTSD kicks me in the face every day as an adult and only seems to worsen with age. THANK GOD for this wonderful woman! The world needs more like her who truly advocate for children! So much of what she said in her testimony really hit home for me and I bawled my eyes out just listening to her. She’s beyond precious in my eyes!

Maggie G. So very sad that you were abused. I so hope you have undergone therapy or counseling. If you haven’t sought help I hope you will do so. It’s never too late to overcome the obstacles that hinder a peaceful and joyful life. The world is ever-changing and there is a remedy for your PTSD. Just a week ago I came across a center/spa that offers zero gravity isolation chambers (water pods) therapy for PTSD. They were priced so the average person could experience this therapy. I don’t have PTSD, but do have stress like the average guy and will check it out for sure. Please reach out and try some of the therapies available to assuage your pain. Good luck and God Bless🙏🏼🙂

Number One I’ve heard defense attorneys can refuse to defend someone they truly believe is guilty. To me, it’s SO obvious this a slam dunk case for the prosecution. That woman abused and killed that child, no question in my mind. I can’t imagine this defense attorney believes she’s innocent. I know it’s her job and she obviously has to cross examine witnesses. I guess she’s doing the best she can defending this monster, but none of her questions are helping her client. When she cross examines, I think “ what does that have to do with anything”?

I am a former medic. Sadly, in a case like this she had bled out from ruptured organs, and there was no blood, therefore no oxygen, which means she could never have been resuscitated. The asystole ( flat line) on an EKG, meant zero heart activity. Millie told trauma nurse that Laila had been sleeping for a long time. To sum up what you say, I agree she was likely dead, and had been for quite a while, and Millie saw this. I also think she heard them say it. They then tried a clumsy cover story.

I'm not certain what Emma Flavell's comment about "saturated with African American Academics" means but it is her perogative to make the statement. If you and I want to understand her, we should ask what she means like Linda Inglis did. Emma sees something she thought worthy of comment. I think she is commenting on psychotherapist Whitmore's intelligence and powerful communication skills as a Black academician. If I'm correct, she is voicing her pride in this woman of color and stating the jury will be able to make an informed judgement which is good for justice. I think that is her reason for mentioning race. Americans must learn to discuss race comfortably if society is to learn, grow and flourish.

Imagine how millie will remeber this when she is an adult. As a child I was sexually abused, I didnt know anything prior to this so recounting it was always the same with not very much detail but enough to cause alarm. As an adult I remeber it the same but I have more words and vocabulary and understanding in order to recount the entire event with so much detail not only about the event itself but about my relationship with the man prior just hours before and days and weeks before as well as how I emotionally felt before during and after the abuse occurred. If someone were to now ask me to recount the event it would be way longer and more detail and more dynamics to fill in the missing leuces of the puzzle. I'd be able to describe in detail how I was groomed before hand while as a child all i could say was, he was nice and then this happened and I didnt like it and told him to stop and he did stop when I told him to. Now I can identify how when and where I was groomed I would be able to recount previous interactions with the perpetrator with more detail and more consistently. As a child j was consistent dont get me wrong but I did add things the more I was asked not bc I lied about the event but bc over time thinking mkre about it I qld remeber something j didnt remeber before or bc somebody asked me a specific question that reminded me of something 3lse that happened. Now I'd be able to recount everything without anyone asking me specific questions at all bc I have had time to process cope and live with what happened to me and what that meant. As a child I didnt know what sexual pleasure was, I wasn't able to understand what I was touching when he placed my hand on his jeans, I remeber being confused by why he did that bc I had not had the experience with make genitalia at that time in order to understand why it felt different than what I was use to (I took baths with my 2 year old brother when I was 4, his anatomy did not match what I felt as it was aroused and a lot bigger than I could comprehend) so when someone asked me something I wouldn't know to say he was aroused at that time bc I didnt understand what that meant or how I cld know that he was compared to not being aroused. I cld explain as a child that at first u didn't see anything wrong with my experience because it didn't feel bad, it felt like tickles, I didnt know how to express that although I was emotionally confused and slightly uncomfortable the physical feeling itself was not something that harmed me or my body. I didnt understand how there were signs and how it could have been prevented and I didnt know how to explain to my mother what happened beyond 'he touched me' I didnt understand he was getting secual gratification from our interaction ir that certain things I allowed to happen such as straddling his lap may have provoked this feeling from him, I thought we were just playing. I didnt understand how he may have gotten gratification from my movements while I was on his lap, and I didn't understand why I would get possessive or jealous when he kissed my aunt, all I knew was that I thought I was in love with him bc that is what he told me, I didnt think to tell people that he told me we would get married one day so when I said these things in front of other adults like ' im going to marry---' they would brush it off as cute and funny from an innocent child who simply adored her aunts boyfriend. When in reality he was grooming me and teaching me about sex and pleasure and teaching me to be okay woyh these interactions from an adult. As a child I remeber waking up and looking for him in the house and telling my aunt what happened and receiving a half negative half negative response from her and I remeber her dropping me 9ff at home without walking me or my brother inside the house, she didn't hold my hand, she didn't tell my mom herself so I felt alone and I wasn't going to tell my mom ar all but u kept standing around trying to think about what to do or how to cope with hiw u felt until I broke down and said 'momma I gotta tell u something' I thought I did something wrong and that u wkd get in trouble bc if it so I was hesitant to speak to her. But then she got upset and told me I didn't do anything wrong but that somebody did something wrong to me...and she called the police and my father and I recounted the same story 5 times over and over. My brother was in the bed with me but he was little too, I remeber he kept asking the man in our bed why are u on her side and not in the middle? And I told my parents and the police this. Now I understand fully what happened even though the memory itself never changed, my understanding of it did and my understanding of how people in these cases groom children did. Now that I know the whole story will sound so much more different. Because if this I just wander what millie would be able to tell us in 10 or 15 years from now...it will be the same memories but so much clearer and much easier to communicate to others.

Me too. I pray she's no longer in the system, and has gone home to her biological mother and loving family. I'm sure when she was removed by CPS her mother was not in her best place to be able to provide the perfect life for millie or laila, but dare I also say...her biological mother wouldn't have murdered her or Laila in cold blood either. So for CPS to forcefully remove children from a parent and hand them over to someone who beat and murdered one of them...I'd be furious. I'm furious for the Daniels family. I hope they sue the daylight out of the state of GA. You are not allowed to even spank a foster child in your care, no matter how gentle-you just keep your hands off them they aren't your children to make that decision about. Considering the amount of bruises on Millie's legs that the nurse mentioned she saw, I have a very hard time believing that CPS didn't realize laws were being broken since they do frequent home visits. They had to be looking the other way since Millie can speak and let them know this was happening. If you can't be POSITIVE a child is not murdered or harmed in any way in foster care, leave them with the biological parent unless the child is in immediate danger of death. Idc if the utilities are off or mom failed a drug test. Don't take that kid unless you are 100% sure you can give them a BETTER home until they are given back to their biological mother and family. I was reading foster care statistics, and about 40% of foster children in the system are in for parental drug use. Taking that into account, the study also stated the child is FIVE TIMES MORE LIKELY TO DIE IN FOSTER CARE than with the biological parent that is complying with DCS expectations, and working on their sobriety but maybe aren't 100% there yet. As it is, children are immediately removed and thrown into foster care upon one failed drug test and it takes about a year for a parent to jump through enough hoops to satisfy CPS enough to return the children and that is if the parent is working fast. A whole year they were 5 times more likely to be murdered than with their parents who are struggling with their disease, but do love them and would never beat them to death.

@kortyjade6795

Not 100% sure but i think its so she can vocally record whats being said so that she can go back and type it all out without worrying about missing something and/or not typing as fast as everyone is speaking. Like medical transcribers take voice recording from the doctors (who record them quickly and efficiently) and type them out. But the thing in front of her face allows the recording device to only pick up her voice while also not interrupting the trial. I may not be 100% correct but i know its something along those lines lol

It’s a mic that they speak into. She’s basically parroting what is said and is using it to transcribe later. It’s usually a fail safe system, the voice of the witness is recorded and the court reporter speaks simultaneously into that mouthpiece. It muffles her voice so she can’t be heard.

It's interesting that feeling of confusion about loving someone who abused you, I certainly didn't feel that way about my family members. I hate them with a passion and there is no conflict about my fury towards them, but hey I don't remember what I was thinking as a child, maybe I did feel that way about them at some point. For sure I knew it would make people look and treat me differently if I told. I also knew I probably would not have been believed, so there you go. But don't kid yourself, my hatred towards them has not waned and they will never be forgiven.

I feel so bad for Millie. She was so young when her sister passed away and one day she will grow up. I really hope she does not remember that she witnessed her sisters abuse or even what she went through. Some children are not mentally capable of dealing with being around during abuse especially when it ends in tragedy. This was no way her fault , and i hope she can grow up knowing she had a sister and loving her, but hopefully, able to live a very productive happy life. I wish the best for Millie and want nothing but the best in the world for her.

She is a strong little girl. If only her mother could know her own strength and beat the drugs. She would be a strong role model for her babies. Having 3 daughters on this earth, they need her and her strength more than she realizes. I pray this mother one day is able to be a part of girls lives. I know she said on the stand that she will fight this fight for a long time more. I hope that isn’t true, but I can understand how she wants to now numb the pain of the loss of her daughter and the blame she puts on herself. But if she could see how much the girls still here needed her, she has that strength inside of her if only she could find it. Millie said it all for me, and she needs her mother to protect her from all the evil in this world. “There are good and bad people in the world, and I can’t tell the difference” - Millie ♥️
