Attorneys ask that question in order to discredit the witness; most expert witnesses are paid for their testimony. The fact most of his testimonies have been for the prosecution is something the defence will hope the jury will think of as bias in favour of the prosecution. However, the medical evidence is so damning the defence attorney makes herself look foolish by asking such questions. The defence lawyer in this case has been very poor, and obnoxious in her conduct.

meanwhile, This is the Medical Examiner who will be testifying for the defense tomorrow: Article dated October 9th 2015 Georgia’s chief medical examiner has abruptly quit, following reports he had built a lucrative private business out of his state job. Dr. Kris Sperry’s retirement formally takes effect Nov. 1, but he is on leave until then. He vacated the medical examiner’s office Thursday, said his boss, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Vernon Keenan. Lawyers and other adversaries repeatedly accused Sperry of tailoring his testimony to the needs of his private clients.

He testified to the injuries that were present on Nov. 17, 2015 on Millie and Laila. He said on Millie there was bruising/petichiae on right side of the face and neck, largest collection of petichiae on the right side of neck, on the face in front of right ear, and bruising on the cheek. He says chances of accidental trauma in this area is less than 1% and to the neck it's less than .2%. Petichiae on bottom of right ear (slap, forceful pinch, pulling on earlobe). Abrasion on the back of right ear (grabbing ear, rubbing fingernail on back of ear, ear being smashed). Petichiae/bruising on the right side of the body with loop marks, lines, pattern, and horseshoe marks (belt). Inner surface of Millie's arm above the elbow - round bruise darker in purple and then a pink/reddish bruise that has a straight line at the top and a 90 degree angle. Laila's injuries: Loop shaped bruise on the left side of lower abdomen and bruising on right side of lower abdomen. Hypopigmentation across her abdomen just below the belly button that is tissue damage typical of a burn. Tremendous amount of bruising all over her back. Starting from the left, on the buttocks, a line of bruising, clusters of round bruises that are over her left lower back. Round bruises that are over her spine and then larger amount of bruising all over the upper back. A cluster of round bruises typical of being struck with a fist, punched, with the knuckles making those bruises. Left ear -- skin is removed on 50% of the edge of the ear, maybe from being burned with a curling iron. Laila and her sister had patches of thin hair on the side, drastically different to the hair on the rest of the head, appearance of hair being pulled. Bruising deep down inside of her left ear. Bruising on left area of chest that extends down into the armpit. Another bruise with a loop shape to it and extends from the front of the body and wraps around into the side of the body. Loop shaped bruise on the right side of the hip and lower abdomen on the right side. Bruising in the genital area, right inner thigh, mons, and right labia majora -- a bruise and abrasion there, a squared off red bruise with a 90 degree angle and straight edges and another one below it (belt buckle), hypopigmentation of the skin right below that. The two squared off bruises and the hypopigmentation with an L shape to it in the genital/upper inner thigh area and bruising wrapping around to the back side. He said there was no bruising in the center of the chest area where CPR is done. Corrine Mull (defense attorney) asked about the square bruises and said "now, the buckle of a belt is usually circular..." and he took off his belt, showed how it is a square or rectangle and demonstrated exactly how those square bruises align with a belt buckle. So, that totally backfired on her. All she had to wrap up with is "which one of these injuries caused her death?" And he said it wasn't any of the cutaneous injuries. And on that note it ended for the day and this will all be on the mind of the jurors all weekend.

All the things we do on the weekend together. And I keep her Little ears away from the horror of this case!! But every time she I hear her say.. “mommy” or I see her smiling face come in the room.. I almost break out into tears... How in the H*ll Could ANYONE do this to a child?! A BABY! 😣😔😞 I can’t take it! Jennifer is also VERY telling in how she never looks at the jury when they walk in or leave. She’s so flippant about everything I’ve witnessed so far.... THAT disturbs me as well. I WISH we had the death penalty on the table.... (I’m sorry, but I do!) And every time I stop to hug my daughter, my heart breaks that these girls didn’t have someone there nurturing and loving them. We’ve GOT to do something about CPS/DHS/DFACS in this country!!! My God Please hear me now! This Had GOT to Stop! We need change and the entire system needs to be reformed! I understand that Tessa was not mother of the year.... But you can see she LOVED her children! Why aren’t we trying to HELP correct the issues at hand, and keep families together?!?! Why are we allowing these innocent babies to moved around like pieces of furniture, and placed with MONSTERS like Jennifer! It makes my blood boil! And it breaks my heart. 😔 Excuse me while I go cuddle my baby girl, and read her a story.... one without monsters like Jennifer!

We almost died from the malnutrition and beatings. We were in foster for two years. Didnt walk or talk and had dirrahrea. Had to learn how to eat food. My sister would run to closet and hide her food so no one could take it away. We had bladder and eye problems. I could go on. My real mom was too young to take care of us. This started with her. She neglected to let us get adopted till we were two. Two years too long. Its astounding to me how the rights of the parents concerns to be heard and taken seriously are completely violated. The mother who sure has a drug dependency and wont make mum of the year award was observant enough and involved enough to notice and be alarmed at clear changes she saw in her daughter and yet she was tagged " the junkie' and her concerns fell on deaf ears. The fact she was consistently in contact with her children should have been encouraged and nurtured , her participation in their upbringing as the natural Mum should also have been incorporated in the overall care plan for those children. I feel for her, very much. A Mum knows, junkie or not, a Mum knows

Emma Flavell Thank you! I’m feeling the same way about her too. It’s so disheartening to see how her efforts to remain a constant part of her daughters lives were not taken more seriously, or were encouraged. Guess what will make a drug addict really go off the deep end? When doing the right is unnoticed or efforts to get your life in order for your children are ignored. It can make a person think what’s the point? I’ll always be a junkie in the eyes of those around me. No, she was not mother of the year or month. But you can see she loved her children and wanted much better for them. I hope Tessa (the mom) will find peace someday.

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH Doctor. As a child abuse survivor, I wish there were cool, suave, frightened (but not frightened enough not to tell the Truth) scientic doctors who would take a day and the fear of court to go to bat for us. You have no idea how much your testimony meant to me. A clinical description of how injuries occur and what percentages. I feel very, very assured by your testimony regarding belting, it was my Mom and Dad's favourite weapon. They preferred to abuse with objects, rarely punching, though once Mom backhanded me with a ring and it cut my face in 8th grade and a teacher instinctively became concerned (I already wrote a suicide letter in 5th grade though, a teacher found it on pavement as I'd folded it like ORIGAMI but honestly NEVER CRIED OUT FOR ATTENTION) and was horrified to Confront my abusive parents with no protection or backup. They said "what can we do to change this and make you happy?" I said "no belting with my panties down." They compromised to skirt down, in panties belongs and worse. My dad faux drowned me in the bath, and my final episode with my mother consisted of her on top of me in the foyer, holding me by the hair, pounding my head onto the tiles again and again. My Dad came in front door while it was happening and just looked at me. That's when I knew I was on my own. Anyway DOC, loving you. Xxxxx

Jennifer was very calculated in her abuse. She focused her abuse on Laila. Yes both girls were abused but Jennifer concentrated on Laila. She was very calculated in that abuse. @@donnacox8541 Oh i know Jennifer was so cold and calculating in her systematic abuse towards Wee Laila. I have been watching this trial since day one, but listening to this drs testimony just brought it more clear. Even without seeing the bruises, and just hearing nthe description of what these bruises looked like and how they were made.... Makes my experience of abuse seem pale in comparison. As you said her taking the girls out to eat and not allowing Laila to eat, it seems to (and not too far off a thought) me, that Jennifer was beginning to groom Millie to be an abuser too. And I don't doubt one bit, this was beginning so she could pass the blame of the physical abuse onto Millie in the future had wee Laila had not died.

I have no doubt that these precious children were abused. I do however have a comment about what the physician said regarding children do not typically fall backwards. I have raised 4 children and I now have a 2 year old grandson. Children do throw tantrums and often throw themselves backwards to the floor. In fact my grandson did this just the other day and hit his head on the tile floor by throwing a tantrum. I have no doubt these beautiful girls were tortured and these defendants must be held accountable. RIP sweet angel.

That is true. My 1 year old son definitely throws himself backwards when he has a tantrum. I think the point he meant to make is that children don’t typically get bruises on their back from falling backwards. My son has hit his head from falling backwards but he has never had bruises on his neck and all down his back from falling backwards. That’s the big difference.

Falling backwards and throwing themselves backwards in a tantrum are 2 different things. He said typically they don’t ‘fall’ backwards. While running or tripping most children fall forwards.
