Installed a set of Racing Beat Lowering Springs on the rx7. The basic red spring set. Also replaced the front strut tube inserts to fix my bouncy suspension. had a little fun at the end of the video.

Adjustable strut tops cause the front to sit about 20mm higher even with lowered springs, so you have to factor this in when getting lowered springs

do you have to have your rear springs teathered down some how ? so they dont fly out on a bump , i had an insurance inspection done and thats what buddy said and was 1 reson why it didnt pass any insight on that . thanks .

I have never heard of that issue. The upper bump stop Is long enough the hold the spring in. I have never had mine come off in my rally car which often sees 4 tires off the ground

Can i ask what size tires you have abd where you got them as well as the rims?

Tires are a 205/50 R14 general Altimax summer tire or something. Wheels are 14x6 1983 rx7 LE wheels

theres a good chance that knocking noise is the struts being too short in the strut tube, will need a spacer in the bottom to make it fit tight *** and yes they are different sa vs fb *** i chased that same knocking noise for weeeeeeeeeeeks, had the struts in and out probably 15 times before i figured out the issue, look for play in the "big nut" that holds the struts into the tube, if there is movement up/down or sideways, thats what it is :)

use a few large stainless washers in the bottom of the strut tube i used an australian 20cent coin in mine and it was the right thickness, but too soft of a metal to withstand the abuse

When I built them I made sure the struts were tight in the tubes. My issue is the shoulder on the shock rod is too tall for the bushing in the camber plate. So even though the nut at the top of the shock rod is bottomed out. It can move in the plate. I can see the movement. Still curious on the ride height. I wonder if the SA struts are taller, for a shorter spring? I really need to measure it. I have a few to compare

@@RADPotential If I recall correctly, the SA struts are a little taller. When I ordered new strut tubes, there were options, and the differences were for the year split between 80 to 81. The older SA units were a tad longer. On a different note, an odd option was the 1980 anniversary edition RX7. Was the first I ever owned. Interior was a little different. FYI the Nikki carbs have a slightly larger Venturi for the models up until 81? I believe. Then they went slightly smaller for the rest of the FB lineup. Emissions or some such hoot. With all stock crud, you can gain a little hp with the older carbs on engines not using the heat collector exhaust manifold. Good channel, have fun.
