I listened to the instigator of this event when he testified. He called a stranger a pedo, ramped up the accusations, involved another group of strangers, and then retreated to stand back and revel in the chaos he had created. He then filmed himself pretending to be shocked instead of trying to offer assistance. That is who should be on trial. Classic sociopath yelling fire in a theater.

Wrong. Watch the entire thing. Nik , maybe jokingly, said I am looking for little girls, according to many witnesses. He could have walked away. I have been down that rive many times tubing. so I know how shallow it is there) That man rushed the group,, he instigated, never said a word with a crazy blank stare, could have left, and if scared, could have showed his knife and said "I will defend myself". No, he hid it and went on a stabbing spree.

They all acted like children... 99.9 percent of the population does... When has deadly force ever been acceptable for kids acting like kids? If he was in real fear for his life he would not have changed his cloths and tried to lie about what happened... You dont hold a knife blade up unless you are trying to kill... Never did he say he was armed or tell anyone to get back. He never even told his own group he was scared. The issue is none of you know what a fight really is... This wasn't even a skuffle how does this constitute deadly force? If it did why lie like he did?

I saw all the videos of these young people on the witness stand and every time I thought that hopefully no such people will ever move into my neighbourhood. Their initial stories were all proven wrong by the video and they tried to evade telling the truth as best they could. The video with sound shows clearly how they enjoyed tormenting the man for sadistic pleasure, as drunk and drugged cowards do.

@@johnpatterson9037 What a dishonest set of lies you just spread. The men incited violence against him by shouting defamatory lies about him like claiming he was "looking for little girls". This did incite two women to go over to him. The women blocked and shouted at him without listening. They then assaulted and battered him on camera grabbing and pushing him several times. These men then shouted more lies about him and used them as an excuse to physically attack him. They pushed him down onto a rocky and gravelly river bed in a foot and a half of water. Easily enough to hold someone down in to drown. All while shouting even more lies They immediately punched him in the face while he was helpless on the ground. When he tried save himself by standing he was attacked from behind by another man in this pack of laughing hyenas. That man pushed him down again (and even admitted to it on the witness stand that he was trying to keep him down). Of course, the victim would think he was in a life or death situations. He managed to get up and face the new assailant but was still being pushed. He had a gang of 5 adult men attacking him simultaneously, joined in with a 17 year old. Harrassing him, attacking him physically with zero provocation. He was merely looking for a cell phone and googles. A cell phone they pretended to have at the beginning to tease him. It was only after all that they he stabbed the man who had just assaulted and battered him from behind.

@@ceeIoc no that's not how self defense law works lol even in Texas he wouldn't have gotten away with that 🤣 he want back to shore and got a knife. If you don't see how that's provoking then that's on you lol. Cause to a jury and the law that's absolutely provoking. Same with common sense. He was able to leave and didn't. Instead retrieved a knife lol. Also most don't realize he attacked first. If you claim self defense to win you have to prove that what you did was 100% necessary and you were afraid. If at any time you can escape the incident and choose not too then your self defense claim is gone 😂 In Florida they have stand your ground but even in Florida if you got a chance to get away the courts gonna convict you. Self defense is reserved for when your out of options. He had the option of walking away the entire time. He got closer to them multiple times. It took awhile for all this to happen. So yes guilty. nothing in them asking an outsider to leave them alone is "looking for a fight" (a knife fight) ---yes they were rude, as drunk teens, or young adults often are ---their pushing only started after Mr. Miu came back for a fight ---since he had already left, he didn't have to come back and murder ---and he can't even use the "crime of passion" (response to the ugly, rude name calling) since he repeated over and over in court that he was not angry at that moment ---so this was an intentional return to a fight (assured by the knife in his pocket)

He should have left, realizing he had a knife, and that the knife would be his only defense he would use, he must avoid these situations. A phone is not worth the trouble he appears to instigate. Kids need to know that it is not ok to fuck with people, I feel he situation could be over, and everyone involved still be alive if better judgment had been applied. Sad but he is not guilty of murder. Being pushed into a couple feet of rapidly moving water is deadly force, and he can respond with deadly force. The court got this one wrong.

My personal experience as a cave diver who frequently visited various backwoods watery places, getting through the locals was sometimes part of the thrill and danger of the dive experience. Not only were you worried about vandalism of your vehicle you even had to worry that they would steal your equipment, left in shallower water & necessary for proper decompression from these dives. The sites were generally filthy with strewn trash, beer bottles and diapers. Some sites were located on abandoned property or state forest land so there was no one to assist in case things went south. Some areas had no cell service either. Non of those teenage fools would have been acting that way had they not had their mob with them.

I used to go camping with friends often when I was young, and sometimes we encountered drunks, mostly we were the drunks, but there was never any violence. I would have helped the man look for that lost phone. One time a guy walked up, helped himself to our (imported!) beer from an ice chest. We looked at him funny, "Hey man! Are you looking for someone?" He grinned, "Yeah! Billy told me to meet him at the campsite near the boat ramp!" "Okay, we don't know anyone named "Billy" but, ya want a burger? We've got plenty!" He hung out with us until his friend Billy came looking for him. Then they BOTH hung out with our group. We had better beer and cuter girls.😉 That was so typical for us, and the people we met. The whole point of going to the river or lake was to have fun, drink too much, and play bad music badly around a campfire. That was simpler, happier times in the 1980s.

I find it intresting to warch Dr Grande but he is a Godless man who is wrong in this case! God does not take the taking of life lightly. A member of Nicks own group worried that his actions would appear to be that of a wierdo pedo. He was not asked to look for the phone instead asked not too. He was on the opposite side where the phone was believed to be! Nick rushed up and put his hands on the legs of two teens on the tubes causing all to get off the tubes and rightly concerning the teens about Nicks intentions! Wouldn't you if some guy rushed up and put his hand on your leg near your privates? Nick Had his havd on the knife for the whole situation, even before he pulled it out, He could have left but he wanted to get even! He wanted to start a fight where he could stab that is why he hit the girl. Nick hid the knife, hid himself, lied over and over again as did his party (except one man who called 911 and helped the VICTIMS), sadly ended the life of one teen and stabbed many others instead of leaving. He had no fear as the smile on his face and the knife in his hands when he simply could have walked away! I don't think the teens behavior was appropiate but the adult knew better!

This case reminds me of something that happened to me which could easily have gone South. I had walked down this trail to go to a swimming hole I had been too many times before. It wasn’t warm enough yet to swim but I liked going there just to chill and listen to music. It was midweek during the workday so there wasn’t really anyone else around. As I made my way down the trail I noticed a backpack along with some fishing gear leaning against a tree right next to the trail. When I looked down the thickly wooded hill to my left I could see some guy wading in the creek fishing. I figured the stuff was his and just kept heading down the trail without thinking much more about it. I eventually got to my destination, threw on my headphones and just chilled out as planned. About ten minutes later I saw some guy walk out of the woodline with a fishing pole. I immediately recognized him as the fisherman and figured he was looking to drop a line in the swimming hole as its a pretty good spot. So I just gave him a small wave of acknowledgment and nodded my head. But he continued to walk towards me and I could tell he was saying something? So I took out my ear buds. He was young guy about 25 with long curly hair and a muscular build. Looked like he definitely worked out. Thats when he spoke to me. He asked “Hey man. Did you happen to see a backpack and some fishing gear? I left it up in the woods and cant find it. Ive got all my stuff in there. My wallet and everything.” Immediately I didn’t like the energy that was coming off of him. His question was more accusatory than anything else. So I said yeah I saw it. I described exactly what I saw, that I saw him fishing, and that it was leaning against a tree right next to the trail. He kinda looked at me for a second and said “Cool. Thanks.” Then he walked off towards the trail. He came back about five minutes later only this time he’s much more animated. He says he couldn’t find it. So im thinking how could he not find it?? I mean its right there! Only a blind man could miss it! Now I could tell he’s convinced himself that I stole it. He starts giving me the third degree. Do you live around here? What’s your name? All that stuff. So now im getting pissed. Im out here just trying to enjoy my day. This trail and swimming hole is practically my backyard and I got this stupid absent minded guy basically accusing me if stealing his stuff. Keep in mind its just us in the middle of the woods and flip phones had only recently become a thing. I dont even think there were cell towers up in this area. So I had a choice. I could tell this guy to F off and risk getting into a fight or something worse. And judging by his physique I wouldn’t have had much of a chance without any weapon. Scenario two. He walks away cursing me and eventually calls the cops. Or scenario three which would cause me to swallow my pride and check my ego a bit and walk this dumb SOB to where his gear is. Ruining my otherwise chill day. I chose option three. So I asked him how far down the trail he went to search? And it was obvious he didn’t go far enough. I told him to follow me and I’ll show him exactly where his stuff is. Sure enough after a very long, tense and silent walk there was his stuff exactly where I said. Leaning on that tree right next to the trail. He says, “Oh. Thanks.” No apology or anything. Thats when I told him in the future he should pay closer attention to where he leaves his stuff and not be so quick to judge and accuse people. Immediately he got defensive. “I didnt accuse you!! I didn’t accuse anyone! Where the Hell did you get that from!?” I said, “You know what forget it. Im outta here.” And I split. That whole situation could have easily gone South like with these kids. And its often all about ego. Everyone seems so quick to fight these days. Rational thought is just gone.

But it was a cool story, the only thing i'd add is that = the world is not going to just mesh with the peaceful zen mode you got going in your own mind, that's vanity and thinking your special or the world circles your butt - not the other way around. you have to be like bruce lee used to say like water, adapt to the many moving parts of this world like that guy with his missing stuff, his head was slightly spaced out, no doubt and being a built muscular specimen like all body building types, they tend to think different than intellectuals and the rest, so having patience and showing the time it takes to lead someone to the right path in life, or to their lost personal items is a credit to you and is at the least what christ would want you to do - at the least. So slow your roll and give people plenty of space to prove to you - THEY ARE BAD, or are def going to f... you over then you will be good and mad, and they will be justly dealt with by yourself so relax and always remind yourself in this world you are a grain of sand on a beach just be patient chilled out and flow my friend. p.s. this case is complicated, i think the kids got that adjustment they needed, but i don't like the way he bull dogged his way over to their inflated tires looking for his phone, like they took it or were trying to hide it, and they had no choice about him bull dogging over to sniff around...that was weird and stupid, i guess your man in the woods did the same thing to you, now i'm seeing what i think you were seeing in both cases. O.k then i read your message loud and clear now, if that guy did that with you then both him and nico the russian were wrong for that much no doubt, good thing you handled it different than these kids.

He even put his hand by his knife right before he rushed at them. After they all yell for him to go away(one says a lot worse obviously, rest just tell him to go) he starts to but then turns around when the girls yell also. He walks right up to them, pulls his knife and while the camera then doesnt see it he either pushed or hit the girl. This video claims they had surrounded him as he tried to walk away, blatant Iie that is clearly proven false by the video he is showing when saying that. It looked like he harassed them and accused them of stealing a phone, and then they retaliated by insulting him. So, it seems like you're blaming the victims. Ultimately, the smart move is typically to try to end the interaction when someone is acting in an aggressive manner out of the blue. But that doesn't mean it's the teens' fault that they were assaulted. It's natural for people to be upset when they're harassed and wrongfully accused of stealing. Every kid is a disrespectful know it all. lt gets tiresome sometimes with these delinquents. Alot of parents are failing their children and the kids walk around with a chip on their shoulder thinking they are untouchable. In my day the kids would have been held to account and the man would have been exonerated in what he had to do. And the reason I know this is because I hung with a rough crowd when I was young and we got in trouble all the time and a few times for ganging up on older dudes just like these kids did. I remember one guy was just leaving the creek after fishing and said maybe we should quite down a little bit because people were trying to relax and fish. Well a bunch of my friends surrounded him and got in his face taunting him and messing with him so pulled out a gun and fired at us but didn't hit anyone and we were held accountable because he was up against at least 15 people and feared for his life. He too tried to push us out of his way and was punching too. I remember feeling bad for the guy but I was part of my crowd and kept my mouth shut. I only got a year probation just because I was part of the crowd but some of my other friends had to do a year and a half to two years in jail. And nothing happened to the guy that fired at us. And I remember the judge thanked him for his bravery in standing up to thuggish teenagers.

Really. There were 20 people around. Do you really think everyone was going to stand around watching a man being held under water until death. It takes minutes not seconds to drown. Until death he would be thrashing around violently. A knife wound to the heart is silent, everyone was unaware and he was dead in seconds.

In a high stress situation, when you are attacked by grown men in a situation where they are intoxicated and using a gang attack, the stress and adrenalin would possibly prevent any measured thought for the attacked person, Nick Miu, to even consider that they might technically be under age, technically under the age of 18. Nick looks over 50 and we know that as an engineer doing technical work, he was in no position to take on one young robust sub 18 male. Sub adult is not really a good description? These were adults cloaked under a legal umbrella of age by years. Who caused it? If these young men had not gang attacked this man and pursued him in the water after he was down this never would have happened.

He is 54 so he will die behind bars. Unless there is the unlikely chance of a retrial or successful appeal. And what message does this send out? A mob can surround a man, yell false accusations in his face, physically threaten him, taunt him. He lashes out in a panic and unfortunately there is a fatality and injuries. Instead of recognizing the context, the mob are treated like the victims and the original victim gets his life thrown away. So if you live in Wisconsin, better just let drunk teenagers hospitalize you rather than stand up for yourself.

He easily could have moved along and avoided the whole situation. Yes the young people were idiots but there wouldn’t have been a dead kid floating in the water if Nick had a bit of sense! He also went back to his group like nothing happened. That’s not normal. There’s so much imbalance in the comments here and in the broad commentary about this. If you were in his place, would you not have at least threatened the group with the knife first? The normal thing to do is pull a weapon out and clearly state that you will use it if the other person comes at you. It seems he just pulled it out and immediately started stabbing. What an insane disregard for human life! Y’all! TAKING A HUMAN LIFE IS HORRIBLE! Even in the worst case scenario where we feel like it’s us or them it SHOULD cause a normal person deep and devastating pain to end another person’s life! Legal “rights” aside, this is just a travesty and objectively wrong.
