Outstanding demonstration between Byrna's LE and Salt Supply's new S2. I had the very same experience with my LE, so I also purchased the S2 during the Shot Show 2024. S2 extremely consistent output between 15-20 joules. With the exception of the LE's first shot, the S2 blows it away. I still own the HDXL and SD. They are both consistent at around 10 joules. I like the SD because it's easily concealable to carry, especially at S.O.B. (small-of-back.) Whoever designs a launcher the size of an SD (or smaller,) that shoots consistently between 15-20 joules will dominate this market. Your excellent demonstrate is proof positive!!

Really consistent first 8 shots! Thank you for posting this and how many shots you get before running out of CO2. They (Salt Supply) seem to have figured out optimizing the power. Prior to the repair were the two launchers comparable for the first 8 shots?
@airgunnerreviews7888

12 shots gets you down to 180 fps and that pretty much is it! The LE is advertised to have a 7 shot average of 340 fps and it is capable of hitting that mark when new but the first few shots are always high fps and drops. This test shows the S2 had a 7 shot average of 364 and a 10 shot average of 350. It is very consistent!

I won’t address the power of the Byrna, but long story short, I have had reliability problems with the LE, and the SD. It’s been frustrating sending these models back for repairs. Byrna’s customer service has been good, I will say that. But my confidence is shaky right now. Hopefully this latest repair will hold. The bad guy could be carrying a firearm, so consistency is crucial. Crucial.

Thank you for the test you did on the BYRNA vs SALT. I thought it was very methodical and the way testing should be done. I bought a BYRNA LE a couple of months ago and am very happy with it. However I don't have the Chronographs to do what you did. Because of your test I bought a SALT and anxiously waiting for it. There is one thing I haven't found anyone has done, and that is test Kinetic rounds. For example, You have the BYRNA rounds that measure .6845" which has about .006" clearance in the bore of the BYRNA. Amazon has a very nice Kinetic round that measures .6785". My curiosity is, does the smaller Amazon round affect the FPS a lot or a little or at all. Having more clearance in the bore theoretically should lessen the FPS. But no one knows how much or how little. Would you consider testing these two rounds? The cost difference between the BYRNA and Amazon are quite significant! Thank you in advance for your answer!

Excellent comparison video! For Byrna to be charging $479 for a “professional” launcher that gives subpar numbers is ridiculous! Sounds like that high markup is really going to pay for their advertising. There are only 2 things I like about the Byrna, and that’s the “point and shoot” technology, and it’s a little more compact. The pushing the button on the bottom may not always be ideal when carrying outside the home. That is where the Byrna has a huge advantage. However, in the home I see the Salt Supply along with a modified HDR and HDP 50 being my “go to” launchers.

Just got the LE to replace the Tippman TipX which is very large but never fails, and has the same pull the trigger to activate mechanism. Wish I saw your channel before purchasing. Right out of the box it wont fire unless you press the mag in while shooting. They said they will repair it but now sounds like this is a serious quality control or engineering problem, or both.
