Intermittent Fasting was the only thing that helped me lose my weight. I had tried to eat less and work out harder, but it wasn't working. I knew my hormones were changing and Intermittent fasting is what helped me to lose weight plus feel great! This is how to lose weight. It is a lifestyle, not a diet.

I am 65 and about a year and a half ago I had that same reaction. I stepped on the scale and saw yet more weight gain when I had been trying to eat less and make better choices. I said that day something has to give. I was aware of the IF eating method but had not put it into practice. It's true that IF is a process of getting use to it. I moved my fasting window up in increments but in the beginning I was watching that clock, lol. I lost 35 lbs and have so far kept it off. It took me 6 or 7 months and I am 8 lbs under my goal weight. I also prayed for strength to stick with it.

I do 18:6 intermittent fasting. I break my fast at noon and eat my 2nd meal between 5-6. I’ll move the hours around depending on our schedule or if we’re eating out or traveling. But 18:6 or on occasion, OMAD works for me. I lost 30 lbs in 2.5 months, then lost another 5 lbs during the holidays. Right now I’m a little below my goal weight but I have a physical next week and I’ll see what my dr says and what my bloodwork shows. The weight loss is a bonus but the real reward is how great I feel, how good my skin and hair looks, how much easier it is to move with less weight to carry, how good my clothes feel on me, how nice it is to sleep so well and wake up feeling great. It’s a lifestyle I intend to maintain forever.

I heard that I shouldn’t do that, that I should stick to the same time every day. I find that so difficult to do, and find maintaining the fasting number of hours easier to do. What is your experience? I also enjoy doing 18 hours fasting, but heard also, that women shouldn’t do more than 16 hours of fasting. What is your experience?

@@shaheenaggarwal The consensus I’m seeing from the Intermittent Fasting gurus I follow on KZfaq (Dr. Sten Ekberg, Dr. Mindy Pelz, Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Eric Berg) encourage switching up the number of hours you IF daily as well as to consider varying the time of day when you eat. Keeps your body guessing and thus maximizes metabolic flexibility (a desirable state of good health)
@minnap
@minnap Жыл бұрын
@@shaheenaggarwal I do 18:6 pretty consistently due to my schedule but a couple times a week, I’ll do OMAD. Like for the last 3 days, I’ve eaten just one good nutrient dense meal a day at noon. That started because I wasn’t hungry at dinner time so I skipped it. Then I realized OMAD isnt a struggle. I’ve also been told that it’s ok to vary feeding times as long as you also maintain your fasting window. I saw my dr the other day for a checkup and he asked about my weight loss. He last saw me 6 mos ago when I was 35 lbs heavier and prediabetic. When I explained my IF journey and healthy eating, he assured me I lost weight the healthy way. So it was nice to get his approval. FYI I’m also no longer prediabetic. You should watch some of the KZfaq vloggers mentioned here to get some guidance on how to maintain this lifestyle as well as your doctor. Good luck to you.

I'm a 47 year old male. I started 16:8 IF in early July 2022, more out of curiousity than anything else. At that time, I would have thought one meal a day (OMAD) was a crazy idea. I've been doing OMAD probably about 95% of the time for the past 3 months and am at a weight and waist size of when I was 16 and in high school. In terms of pounds lost since I started, it was 30 pounds or so -- nothing dramatic, but for the LONGEST time, no matter how much I excercised, my weight would never get below 185 pounds. Nowadays, my weight is 163 and I think I'll focus on maintaining this weight going forward. Major kudos to Dr. Berg, Dr. Fung and Dr. Jamnadas!

My grandfather, who walked a mile to catch a bus to work, (so he walked 2 miles a day), ate 6 days a week and fasted one day. I’m 77 so he was doing this long before the grazing all day became a way of life. He was healthy, in good shape and, for the time, lived to old age. The future generations will probably get heavier and heavier from sitting in front of tablets. Children already have thumbs that hurt. I was outside all day as a child. My neighborhood is so quiet. Ok, so let me tell you my experience...the weight did not start coming off until about 4 weeks. I even thought I was doing something wrong and went back to re-read the book, 'Fast. Feast. Repeat." to see if I was doing something wrong, which I was. I was doing a dirty fast for one thing but the other thing she said was to trust the process, because it does take time. It isn't like a fad diet where there weight falls off fast...but then gets put back on fast too. If I had quit after the first month I would have missed out on the weight loss and all the other benefits I am getting. It's a lifestyle, not a diet. @Kristin Pruett from what I understand it is about consistency and allowing your body to heal. What I have been taught is that when you aren't losing weight with IF your body is healing itself from atophagy. I IF 18 to 20 hours every day. I refused to weigh for 5 months and could tell on my clothes. I thought I lost a lot more than I did...but I dropped 4 dress sizes. If you haven't given IF 6 month I would say revisit it. I did Atkins, body for life, hormone shots with low calorie diet, WW, etc. and this has been the easiest most satisfying way to lose weight than ever. I have seen endocrinologists, holistic MDs. It works but takes time.

Awesome video, I started IF last September, I also stopped drinking cokes daily and started walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes 5 days a week. I ended up losing 10 pounds that first 2.5 weeks. I stopped IF in November and December to just enjoy the holidays with no pressure. I felt horrible, brain fog came back but wouldn't you know, the 10 pounds stayed off. Fast forward to Jan 1st and starting IF again, I'm still not drinking soda but have not started walking on the treadmill again but guess what, down another 2 lbs in 1 week. Intermittent fasting does work and has helped me to be a better steward of the body God has given me. No more brain fog, no more joint pain and feeling lighter with lots more energy!

I eat between 11am and 7pm then fast drink only water after 7pm. I do not watch what I eat within that time no weighing of food or counting calories its easy. I was so over-weight in 2020, so in January 2021 I went on a water fast for 15 days (Water only) I dropped 10kgs and felt so much better - When we fast the body has time to focus on healing. I continued watching my weight and began intermittent fasting - I will NEVER go back to another way of eating. I am not 100% strict especially on holidays and celebrations. But the next day I am back to intermittent fasting. I LOVE IT! I now I am 13KGS down from my weight in January 2021 - Thank you for sharing!! This is the best for me! I eat my first meal around 10:30ish and my last at around 4:30ish - I try to eat healthy but do have a slice of cake or a cookie with tea. I really don't count calories or restrict myself if I feel like something, but I don't eat when my 'window is closed' as I call my fasting time.

Nice realistic presentation and sometimes the intermittent fasting 'gurus' can make it a bit too hard (e.g. you have to only organic chicken/meat etc) as I don't want life to become so hard but eat with common sense, lots of fibre, veges but also enjoy something 'fun' now and again! @@Just...Peachy I fast for 16-18 hrs a day. I also do a 24 hour fast once a month. When I do eat, I really try to only eat real, unprocessed food. I focus on getting 100 grams of protein per day and follow a low-carb mediterranean diet...about 75 grams (total) of carbs per day. The rest of my calories come from healthy fats like fish, nuts, seeds, avocados, olive oil, ghee, butter, eggs, steak, etc. I started walking by just going for 20 mins a day. My hips and ankles hurt by the end of that because it was new movement for me and I was heavier. I now walk 3-4 miles per day most days of the week -- winter is harder, I just bundle up and go even just 1 mile if it's super cold. When it's nice outside (ie: not winter ha!) But if when we fill up on veggies, protein (chicken/steaks/fish/eggs) and healthy fats (Avocado Oil/grass fed butter/olive oil/coconut oil/Avocados/nuts) then we will most probably be satiated longer and the fast will be so much easier. **I guess I should add, the above has worked for me SO FAR, I'm not a nutritionist or health expert, I'm just a simple gal, who after watching videos by Dr. Pradip Jamnadas, I have been seeing progress in the past 3 weeks since I started... I hope this helps someone else...

What a great video! I just started 10 days ago. Feel much better already. It makes sense to eat this way. And it's great to eat whatever I want when I do eat. Thanks again for your fine example.

Isn't it so freeing! It's not a diet, so I don't have to think about what food to eat all of the time.

Thank you for the video! I lost 50 lbs in 1.5 years, and I have been keeping it off for another year and a half- totally unparalleled experience for me. This stuff works. Two things worth mentioning: 1. You lose CERTAIN AMOUNT of weight but at some point weight loss stops, and if you need to continue losing, you need to add some other strategy; 2. After you lose the weight, you HAVE TO continue IF, otherwise you will gain it back. It is a lifetime strategy, in my case definitely life-changing.

THANK YOU for sharing this! I do believe it is a lifestyle also. I have read a lot of comments of poet e who lost weight and then went back to eating regular (all day long) again, and put the weight back on. Also, from what I have read is exactly what you said that if weight loss plateaus, you need to change strategies and mix it up.

I've been intermittent fasting for 6 years. I started working night shift & it felt natural to eat 3 meals in 8 hours. I realized I was intermittent fasting long before i knew there was a name for it, so I did some research on it. She is accurate in saying that it doesn't really matter what you eat but I also choose to eat healthy meals MOST of the time. However, there are days that I do eat pizza or a burger, I love my cheat days hehe but ive never gained any weight in these 6 years. I'm 32 & I am at 114 pounds. I was 146 prior to this, so it's safe to say that intermittent fasting does work.

Wow! What a testimony to IF. You really dropped the weight and I agree, I enjoy food and don't feel deprived with IF, unlike diets.

What I noticed that worked for me is eating my breakfast lunch and dinner within the time frame of 8:00 Am and 5:30 Pm and you can also snack (fruits 1 serving just to avoid sugar) or even up to 6pm (after that just water), and saw the weight dropping off, walking helps as well. Body feels better overall. I agree with you it is very flexible, you can extend your fast as you wish. You can start breakfast later if you wish.

If I get a sweet craving, I eat 1 tbs Smuckers organic peanut butter. Just nuts and salt. No sugar. Most peanut butters and even dill pickles, have added sugar. I learned to read not only labels but ingredients also.

I have recently started intermittent fasting. I have my first meal of the day at noon and eat dinner at 5pm. I will on occasion do only one meal a day as I am just not hungry. I am drinking water, coffee and herb tea throughout the day. I feel so much better and since beginning in early November I have lost approximately 6 lbs

Do you add any honey to the tea during your eating and drinking window? Also, I am from the south and I do love to drink sweet tea during the day. I add 1 c. of sugar to one gallon of black tea and we drink the gallon within a couple of days.
