Simplest RX8 Power Steering Fix (Code B2278)

I had code B2278, I just unplugged the connectors and plugged them back in a few times, just like a NES console. You can use isopropyl alcohol or dust off or something if you want but the friction often does the trick just fine.
I didnt say in the video, but I did have this problem across multiple restarts over multiple days. The code didn't clear until I replugged the connectors.

It's common for the connector to cause issues, the power steering draws a lot of current, so requires a good electrical connection, give them a clean and an application of dielectric grease to stop future issues. Also the steering column universal joint can get a bit stiff, an application of spray grease usually helps. The intake solenoid fault you highlighted is located behind and below the upper intake manifold, there are 3 solenoids and usually the middle one gives you trouble(this operates the ssv actuator)

Got overflow cuz I added too much coolant 😢 hopefully I won't have to buy a harness. Thx a lot

Let it fully dry. Some liquids are conductive, but deionized water (half of the coolant) shouldn't be. Unless some wiring melted, the harness should be ok. If you don't have a burning plastic smell you might've gotten away with it...

Curious what you would think, i rebuilt the engine of mine, it worked up until the point the car started up and stayed on.

Hmmm, honestly I don’t know, maybe one of the wires to the power steering got damaged? Maybe the connectors just got dirty? That’s been the bane of my existence with this car.

@@ErikSeastead i have connectivity from the control module to the plugs looking at it the power isnt consistent, i am waiting on a used control module next is replacing the rack

My mazda verisa also has this problem. But everytime it shows up, i always switch of the car and start it. It disappears.

A faulty ground or bad connection would cause an issue that would pop up and go away like that, you should try what he did in this video, I did today and it fixed my car

@@SteveMK mine only started having issues after a really shaky burnouts attempt, it made the junky grounds lose connection
