You know, it really doesn't matter what we think. It is your life and you need to enjoy it and make your own decisions. I get it. FT Van living can get old, that doesn't mean you are giving it up forever and it doesn't mean that you no longer think positively about van living. If you need a break, then you should take it. If you need a home base, then you should have it. Honestly, I think that as long as you keep your videos interesting, no one will really care if you are living in a van or in an apartment. People watch you because they care about you and are interested in your life. Be happy, share what you are comfortable sharing. Life is good - enjoy it!

What I really appreciate is that you share your experiences with us and have an awesome sense of humor. Just remember it's YOUR life and I think the majority of you subscribers will agree. Never commented before, but felt the need to with this. I never watched your videos because you were a "van lifer". For me, the thing that always kept me coming back and getting excited when your videos popped up was the quality, realness and conversation like feel your videos always had. I love that you always share parts of your life and are so real about it, not glamorizing anything and being authentic to yourself. This video is no exception! Keep doing what makes you happy, as long as you make videos I'll be watching- no matter where you choose to live lol

I loved this video. In all of your other ones, things have a very professional feel- newscaster voice, background music, editing, etc. I love that style of video as well, but in this you felt at ease, this felt like “Liz” and not so much “Wild by the Mile, Inc.” and I can really sense a genuine happiness. I’m so happy for you and hope you continue on your journey in whatever way suits you!

Life’s not about worrying about what others think. If you spent your entire life living to please - it’s not your life anymore. I am proud of you for listening to YOU and realizing what YOU need. You’re real, raw, restless - but human and have all the emotions that come with that. I know you think we all might judge, but we too are all just trying to get by in life. Making decisions for yourself is nothing to be ashamed of. You are MORE credible for being raw. You’ll find your roots, just keep growing.

#EXACTLY This sounds like a great segue to a more balanced lifestyle. Save the van for fun adventures that will last for years instead of a full time commitment that will lead to total burnout. Plus, people don't understand what women go through just to feel safe. It's a lot of stress to be concerned about 24/7. I am actually looking into a medium-sized travel trailer that I can park in an rv park paired with a big truck. Thanks for being a voice for reason. I am not the full time #vanlifer I wanted to be and I was getting bummed about it. Refeshingly honesty. Thank you.

Hoping you read this: As an over the road (OTR) truck driver for the last 18-19 years, I’ve lived your lifestyle constantly with one caveat; I have a home. I’ve wrestled with justifying that home as it is an expense with a disproportionate amount of non-use. I’ve questioned retaining it as I enjoy life on the road so much and it sits empty a great deal of time. What has kept me from stepping into your world is the concern of collapse; without a home will I eventually come to feel as you’ve stated here? I’ve watched many van-lifers/RVer’s broadcast their methods of life management, and though it feels quite easy for me to step into full time, I feel I would come to regret it; foolish- for my particular personality. I am very lucky to own a large home here in SoCal with a mortgage probably lower than that Mercedes payment. It is my one respite from life on the road that makes getting back- “on the road” so appealing week after week. A place to do laundry- to fold that laundry, to take long showers- to store my shit! All I mean to say is, this acceptance of seeking permanence and all the comforts that go with it is probably sounder than you feel right now as your generation wrestles with today’s high cost of living and how to justify it- whether to give the big middle finger to “the man” and find other solutions. Very happy you decided to air this crises. This video may compel others to consider this very real emotional need we all have. Apologies to all if this sounded a little discombobulated; 1hr of sleep before hitting the road again with a smile on my face! Over n’ out!😎

I’m a part timer, and I doubt I will ever go full time. Maybe 2-4 months at a time when I retire far, far in the future. For now, I enjoy road trips and car camping in my Prius. I’m not even sure if I will upgrade to a larger vehicle because, when I need space or just a break, I’m okay staying in a hotel or coming back home. It isn’t the same as doing it full time, but you still have a lot to share about the experience, especially since you have done it full time for a year.

I appreciate your sincerity, and I think you are much more than a ' van girl'. I watch your channel because it represents a serious woman, who takes control of her life and money and creates a life she wants to live. I was never really into vans. It's your personality, that girl boss vibes, that made me subscribe. For me,the van life is an exotic hobby. While you hibernate, you could share (if you want) other parts of who you are...For example, some financial tips. Happy Holidays!

A lot of people probably say "It doesn't matter what we think!" and that's really the long and the short of it. But mainly, the reason WHY it doesn't matter is that no matter what decision you make, there will be supporters and detractors. As for what I ACTUALLY think about it: I think it's a great idea. You don't lose any vanlife cred for not being in the van full time. You did it and you know what it's like so you have an informed perspective. Sometimes you want have a house/apartment in a fixed place, other times you want to live in housing that is mobile. If the tiny box on wheels begins to drive you crazy then you take a break and we'll get over it. Thanks for taking us along on the ride and I'm looking forward to the next installment, whatever that entails.

I find much inspiration from you and I look at this video and you seem different than your usual videos, you seem tired and I need of some you time. I don’t think you should feel any stress to say hey I’m gonna go back to living in an apartment, as life goes and we grow as people we change. The way you felt a year ago vs now just means something is changing for you! And I would say just welcome the change with open arms take care of your mental and the rest will fall into place. You have a super sick van still and if a week from not you want to go back to living in it full time you can that’s the beauty of options... your out here living your life and I love to watch your wild by the mile journey 🙏 your awesome!

Thanks for sharing your next step with us. I can only image how much you may have second guessed to share this with us. I completely understand why you decided to have a home base. Please don't beat yourself up. When I first saw your Chanel I wanted to get a sprinter for weekends and trips. Your emotional and mental health are your compass for life so listen to them. Keep doing ya thang !

I luv your honesty about van life and its good n bad sides and for being Real!so many KZfaq's of van life are misleading by making it out to be fabulous, the suns always shining, fridges never go mouldy etc,so its very refreshing to watch your videos :)

Liz, balance is good! A lot of people do van life full time out of necessity because they can’t afford a home base besides. Having a roomie to cut costs and having that “permanent” space to rejuvenate yourself and be a place to reconnect with your social group for one week per month doesn’t make you less credible. It shows you’re human and in my opinion, will prevent burnout in the long run. My wife and I are expecting to jump into van life with a 2020 Sprinter buildout in 18 months or so once our last child graduates from college. We’re so thankful now that we made the decision already to downsize from a house to a condo so it will be easier to leave for months at a time (working from the van) but we’ll still have a place to return to when we’ve had enough of the road. Feel confident in your decision! It doesn’t matter what others think as long as you believe this is what’s best for you. Just know though, you do have two voices of support here.

I was actually relieved to hear you say that being jumpy when you're supposed to be sleeping is a real "thing", especially as a female solo on the road. Seems like every female vanlife KZfaqr says to just follow your gut instinct about a place or people around you. I get it. BUT- what about sleeping? Say you choose a safe area, there's no one sketchy around, you fall asleep and then at 2 a.m. some guys who might've been drinking, want to mess with the van...or you....😳 I live in NYC where we have wrought iron bars on our windows and four locks on the door, and I STILL jump when I hear a noise that's out of the normal. The prospect of being out on the road and wondering if someone to come knocking HAS to be so stressful. So thanks for always being so authentic about what your experience is. You just validated mine! I'll be watching your channel no matter what, btw. THANK YOU!

I think it's just fine! If anything, it's educational because it helps people to understand that this is something that they may experience during full time van dwelling as well. I'll definitely still keep watching! Thanks for your honesty!

Your move makes perfectly good sense to me. Many of us want the best of two worlds. About the future.. be kind to your mom. I lost my mom 18 months ago and I wish I had been more patient and present. Good luck :)

I am still staying subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing what comes next. My life has been blessed with the knowledge on full time van life you have honestly provided. Moving forward I am really excited to see how the van works with your home base; that is more my travel style btw.

I found your channel because of your van life but I grew to enjoy your talking, your character, your other content (what you eat, your minimalism) I know I will still be interested in your content outside of van life videos. Sending you love :)

I started watching because you are an engaging youtuber, and regardless of where you are or what your day might entail, I think it is interesting! Just because you are changing things up a bit doesn’t mean I’ll stop watching! I find it MORE interesting that you are making some changes. Keep being YOU and doing what you need to do to be happy! That’s what life is about ❤️

I honor your honesty. Like many below I was watching because of your authenticity and sense of humor. I love the phrase that flowers doesn’t bloom all year. In our society it is pushed on us to be productive, achieving 24/7, which is TOTALLY unrealistic! Thank you for being TRUE to yourself and honoring your needs. Once more your authenticity will inspire other to fulfill their needs and be true to themselves. Much LOVE.
