STARZ!
One of the greatest and most overlooked bands of the late 1970’s and a major influence on most of the big 80’s glam/hair bands. How did Sweet Pain end up covering a Starz song? Richie Ranno, Aucoin management, Kiss, Looking Glass, Hell Bent for Leather, funny Starz stories, Leather bars, Nikki Sixx lifted a Starz riff and more!

Very cool that you've done a piece on Starz.. Jammed on their first 4 albums as a teenager, and saw them open for Nazareth in 1977.. both bands were fantastic! I will have to check out that book. Angel is another band that suffered similar issues..

Hey Man! I got to see Starz open for Nugent at the Coliseum in '79, were you up here for that at the time? Agreed on the 1st 2 albums for sure....& you guys did a fun Subway Terror! 👊😎👍

Great episode! I remember seeing their name a lot when Kiss was at their peak in the late 70s, but I never heard any of their material until now. Subway Terror is very good and so is Night Crawler. Has kind of a Sweet vibe. Great singer too.

I never heard of STARZ, but just listened to Detroit Girls. I can’t believe I have never heard of them? Hmmm??? They definitely had that 70’s pop rock sound! I don’t think I could’ve gotten into them though.

I listened to Stars "Subway Terror" and the song sounds nothing like "Looks That Kill". The only thing I can think of is maybe a similar category in lyric subject matter? But it's not an exact match? "Subway Terror" sounds more like an early Def Leppard song.

There’s parts of subway terror tat heavily influenced looks that kill especially the chorus riff . Thanks for watching
