Cody I’ve been listening to some of these track coaches and they are advocating that deep squats, and some other lift’s don’t translate to improving speed. I am a personal trainer who works out a lot. I love to lift whether for sprinting or not. I’m going to lift because it’s important to health.

I love how you analyze your reasoning behind every excercise and how you feel while you are performing it. Really insightful. Keep going, brother!

My man your a strong man. I just got back into sprinting. My lifts are good. My goal is to be more athletic and fast as a runner in long distance and sprinting. Keep up the good work man!

Love it bro keep it up. How would your training differ if you were training for sports? There's more change of direction and lateral movement

Hi, Cody. Did you try French Contrast Method in your gym routine? What is your experience? It's look like circle training of couple of sets (set of 4 exercises) with 1) Heavy exercise (80%+ intensity, 20-30 sec rest > 2) Plyometric exercise with body mass (3-5 reps) >20-30 sec rest > 3) Weighted plyo/jump exercise (about 30-50% load, 3-5 reps) > 20-30 sec rest > 4) Assisted (accelerated) plyo (with help of bands) 4-6 reps > 4-5mins rest > new set. I also saw variations with some bigger recovery times (1-2 min) between exercises. It's variation of complex trainings (contrast, ascending, descending, french contrast). What did you try, how long (how much mesocycles) and what response and results were? Thank you.

Would you recommend doing one upper body and one lower body once a week ? During off season or all year round ?

Hey Cody, should I do strength and sprint conditioning in a single day or should I do them separately during the week
@ATHLETE.X
@ATHLETE.X 10 ай бұрын
That depends on your schedule and work capacity. Typically if it’s combined each workout will have less volume because the total volume load is pretty large with two sessions. I mix it up, sometimes one session and sometimes two.

Just curious what are your all time prs in the squat and bench?
@ATHLETE.X
@ATHLETE.X 10 ай бұрын
I’ve never maxed my ATG squat but I did 405 last year. Hit 455 in college but that was more like just above parallel. Have quarter squatted 545 many times. Bench lifetime PB is 345lb.

You can prevent most soreness by stretching before bed

What’s the point of doing bent over rows off a block or rack ? Of course you can lift a lot more weight when you turn a free form movement into a machine row . The weighted stretch is completely void with your version. Like at that point just do a pendlay if your own goal is power
@ATHLETE.X
@ATHLETE.X 10 ай бұрын
Just a lower risk variation since I haven’t rowed in a while. Last time I did rows was in May and I did 275x6 without the rack.

I prefer squat cleans to progress to a full clean and jerk. Is that going to compromise my max sprint time for the 100m? I keep getting this nagging voice in my head saying I will lose stiffness, and all I ever see are sprinters doing power variations.
@ATHLETE.X
@ATHLETE.X 10 ай бұрын
I don’t know that it will detract from your stiffness greatly unless you do massive volume of full cleans. I’ve known of coaches who teach full cleans first and then progress to power clean later on and they get good results. I would suggest progressing like this: full clean -> power clean -> hang clean -> drop hang clean (quick eccentric lowering then pull)

@ATHLETE.X with a bad thecnique you don't get the benefits even if you do 500 I think smooth catch and blasting through your hips and hams are useful maybe
@ATHLETE.X
@ATHLETE.X 10 ай бұрын
You lose the benefits of the catch portion but the first & second pull still have benefit, like for clearing the blocks
