I've been away from my abuser that if we were back in court now, I do think I could look at him while testifying, but it has taken well over 20 years for me to regain my confidence. I am not sure that I could look at a jury box of strangers and recount my sexual assault, though. I don't think it's fair for us that are victims to believe every victim should behave the same as we did or to think that we would in the same circumstances. That said, there is just too much actual evidence that contradicts her testimony to now believe anything she has said.

Her personality disorder caused her to vascillate between begging, sobbing & pleading with him to stay with her, on threat that he was killing her. Then telling him that he was a fat washed up pos, who was a worthless father. Then telling him that he was a monster who abandoned her, who wasn't a proper man but a child. Then acting besotted, devoted & servile, while dressing provocatively & hooking up with other men. Then laughing in his face & mocking his jealousy. & on top of all this, abusing him physically. It must have been absolute psychological terrorism.

As a DV Victim myself I’ve had a broken nose, bruises and swelling in my face. That little makeup kit would not hide much at all.

They really should have a real victim volunteer to come in to prove make up isn't going to hide dark bruises, cuts and swelling. Make up doesn't hide anything, in fact it makes it worse because you have to put so much on everyone knows that something is going on. When I got a black eye and bruised from a car accident I never covered it up, when people asked me what happened, I just told them. But when I was bruised from the abuser I tried to cover it but couldn't effectively do so and when I would get asked about it I would try to come up with a story. It's embarrassing to have to tell someone that you got beat up. I don't say who did it because it wasn't my husband, it was a direct family member and some of my other family members wouldn't want me to say. See...there's a stigmatism to family violence. There's still that family commitment to silence to this day decade's after.

No, DV victims shouldn't be told that they can't be victims unless they act in a certain way. The research actually says they often act in a way that is unexpected. That psychologist who is a highly qualified expert in IPV made that clear. This is esp true when victims have left, garnered support, gained validation (from UK High Court judge who very clearly said he accepted her events and rejected Depp's, for very comprehensive reasons) and consider themselves survivors rather than victims. The anger can be contemptuous. That's where the obnoxious part comes in. She is disgusted at Depp's lawyer.

She was entitled to more, and only took 7 million, and pledged it to charities, which agreed with her to a payment plan and she was ahead of schedule until the lawsuit started.
