Bought one of these a few weeks ago. Yesterday bought a new disk...Queen , A Night in the Opera. I was surprised how the sound just "popped" out. Like being in the room when it was recorded.

Thank you for your review. It is the process of applying over several cycles our ionizing agent to the record that attracts the plasma wave created by ultrasonic cavitation to first the record's surface, then as surface contaminants are removed, we then go deeper into the grooves. The end result as you noted now sees the needle make full contact with the detail in the grooves of the pressing made by the stamper, less the release agent that presented itself to the surface of the record. Enjoy restoring your records!

Respectfully read the documents. The whitish materials appearing after the prior cycle in the sonic are the contaminants etc. softened by the ultrasonic and being brought out by the goat hair brush when adding the ionizing surfactant spray.

There is a colorant in the mix that allows one to see what the ultrasonic pulled out on the prior cycle. Rapid dissipation confirms the last cycle in the machine

I would like to know what record sleeves are best to use after a Kirmuss session? Are Mobile Fidelity sleeves good? I have heard on prior videos mention of pure Rice Paper sleeves that allows the record surface to have air circulating through. Thank you.
@kirmussaudio7578

Pure rice paper can attract the growth of fungus over time if the plastic sleeve is broken. We use a 4 mil HDPE sandwich on an alkaline paper. We also do not see our KirmussAudio sleeves subject to use of a talcum like powder in manufacture when environmental conditions are humid. Our sleeves are made in a controlled factory with no windows open.

Yes. Cleaning machines of all kinds do this well. Our purpose and patents issued and pending for our process is designed more specifically to not just surface clean but to remove the release agent from the grooves. This material surfaces during the pressing of the record and is found in both new and vintage records. As the record is played the dyne of the needle generates heat and inadvertently microwelds dust into this material found in the grooves. Our mission is to remove this material and by doing so we remove the microwelded dust that causes many of the pops that we hear. Of course the pops caused by needle drops cannot be resolved . A side benefit is where some scratches caused by a tone arm inadvertently skipping across the record causing that annoying "tick" every record revolution in most cases is no longer heard. Scratch still visible, but as the needle is now "further in the pocket" deeper in the groove, our experience in restoring thousands of records shows us where the click is no longer heard in 70 % of the cases subject to our process. An extra benefit of groove restoration and not just surface cleaning.

First and foremost, do review if you can the white paper presented at the ARSC convention in May 2019 and our discovery and position that discusses the relative charge between the record and water with or without soap in any cleaner,, vacuum or otherwise, and how we noted where one needs to change the charge of the record to benefit from the action of any sonic or cleaning process. Our patents issued and pending covering our cleaning and groove restoration process and are the only ones known to accomplish groove restoration and measured release agent removal by one brushing onto the record over repeated cycles our ionizing agent in the CLEANING AND RESTORATION PROCESS. Not the POLISHING process that you describe which is for static reduction. To the entire process. .... The spray is used for 2 functions. First....The record's charge is now different than that of the water with spray brushed into the record's grooves. Opposites attract. Now attracting the wave caused by cavitation to the record we benefit from ultrasonic technology. . Having a liquid soap in an ultrasonic's tank does not accomplish this, hence only surface cleaning results. We need these repeated applications and cycles with the ionizing agent applied to the record as by changing the charge of the record we then fully attract the resulting plasma wave to the record and especially the inner grooves. Unfortunately the change in charge of the record with respect to water is removed as the record is spun, rendering the process useless as is with all ultrasonic cleaners . . So more applications and cycles in our machine are needed.....this as the temporary charge applied is now removed. So the reason where we need to cycle the record with an ionizing agent applied..4 or 5 two or five minute cycles. The reporter did not do this. Added, as with any sonic, the water hitting the record sees standing waves generated. The closer the records are to each other, less power available to reach the entire record. So our process takes into consideration using first our bi polar ionizing agent apllied on the record, and having specific distances between records. This to see after multiple cycles the release agent successfully removed and breath of the music and artist restored. This sees an increase of 1.3 to 4 dB increase over floor depending on the provenance of the record. Also about 3 to 9 microns of residues and coatings etc. removed. Needle makes full contact with the detail of the grooves pressing. No other process talks about these measurements.. they can't... If we just placed a record in any sonic with water with or without a soap or agent in the sonic's bath and spun the record, including our own machine, we would not be able to remove the release agent from the grooves as we do including and at the same time any microwelded dust that was welded into the release agent/grooves by the heat of the needle which creates those pops. To scientifically validate our statements, expect in 3 or so weeks a video which will post results of testing that you can perform yourself at home to see the results of our process over some lookalike products as well as other sonics priced 4 times higher. To the second point... The polishing of the record at the end has nothing to do with our removing the release agent or cleaning. Using the same bipolar ionizing agent, misted on a dry goat hair brush, and moving the brush across the record several times each side, changes the charge of the record to repel dust while playing. Taking advantage of our reply, in several tests by armchair enthusiasts saw the audiophiles not use the bipolar agent correctly. As described above, pouring any quantity of our bipolar ionizing agent in our ultrasonic's tank in any concentration added to distilled water does not assust in attracting the plasma wave to the grooves, and thus cannot remove the release agent that we intend to do. As to charges of water and record, dusty and record, If you speak to commercial users and manufacturers of ultrasonic cleaning machines they will confirm the need to consider the relative charge of the record ir item being processed as it relates to that of water in the sonic unit's tank. Do call us so we may clarify the above and reflect on many unscientific and improper uses of sonics and other cleaning processes out there for records. and our study of charges of dust, records and cumulative static charge of spinning pvc (records). Thanks for your illustration.

You must be mistaken. We reply to everyone. We only reply when we see an alert. If you have a problem, call us at our office either in the UK or USA. We are not alone in using a lab coat. Audio Technica was the first. Then Bob's Devices. Used to make an impact at trade shows when new technologies are revealed. For us records that we receive at trade shows see some ridden with fungus. When removed from the record's sleeve a large cloud appears, rather have it land on the lab coat rather than our street clothes.
