Unironically, my very first considerable purchase ever with my own money (in my late teens) was a washing machine. I LOVE that washing machine. It looks great, and I could wash anything in it. I gave it as a present to my oldest sister when I left the country and she still has it. She has a husband and three kids and the washing machine is so big it can do their weekly washing in only two loads. Over 10 years since I bought it, hasn't broken down once. That's my favourite machine of all time, no contest.

Great video, looking forward to more like this. Honestly, telling us about the machines that suck would be just as helpful. Maybe more for us home gym people… not many can afford Prime machines but it’s fairly common to pick up an older used commercial leg press/hack squat/etc. If there are specific models or designs that just generally suck it would help to know which ones they are so we can steer clear.

@@formdoggie5 Sure but it’s not like people are going to let you come over and do a full workout on their shit just so you can figure out if you like it and want to buy. I love the leaning, lat-biased rows on machines like this (demonstrated around 7:35) as a third exercise after 1) pullups or assisted pullups and 2) lat prayers or pullovers... Lets you finish off the lats with stability+focus. If you don't have variable grips like this Prime machine, I'd recommend attaching some "angles90"-style pullup grips to the handles of your machine.

The 4 positions on the chest supported row is interesting. Though most chest supported row machines cannot have the 3 pegs, I'll try the 4 positions at my gym. I usually just sit down and do the 4th exercise type. I've never thought of doing it any other way. So now there are some options. Thanks, Dr. Mike.

I came up with what you call a flexion row on my own probably a year/year and a half ago and it really was a game changer for me. Back growth started happening way faster, sfr went way down, and the flair ups from a really old shoulder injury are basically nonexistent. I haven’t done any sort of traditional rows since unless the gym just had an absolutely trash rowing machine.

I don’t even have a home gym and I want to buy this machine... i appreciate you giving critiques. The only other thing i might add is some adjustability to the pad, in terms of angle, so you could adjust it a bit more when biasing lats. Maybe even a knee pad to feel really anchored in. More adjustability would help more people feel good with it too. Does prime have a pull down with the three peg system? They probably do.. awesome way they demonstrated the machine though, for the lats. Super similar movement to machine rows but honestly looks better to me. I wonder if you could make a cable machine with this kind of set up. I am sure you could so the question would be practicality. It would be cool to do something like the cable Y raises with a cable set up that loads the bottom extra; big stretch on the delts!

Hey Dr Mike. I think that bottom peg can make for a good warm up. It could also make for some less damaging volume work, or blood flow recovery type stuff. Maybe even just variation for the sake of it. What if all the pegs were adjustable? That would make it perfect for everyone. Even the equipped power lifters that are breathing the raw lifters air.

"Hi Dr. Israetel, I'm wondering if the inertia in cable machines with pulleys has any noticeable effects compared to free weights. Are there any important differences we should consider when choosing between these options for resistance training? Could the mass and inertia of weight stacks in cable machines impact muscle activation, force generation, or injury risk in unique ways? Thanks!" I noticed this when rehabbing a torn bicep. I was super paranoid about damaging the repair and this kind of crap pops into my head. When the felt load gets heavy, heavy to match a free weight, I noticed the feel of the weight is much different and thought it must be the inertia causing this. The brain says this is heavy, but the reps keep coming. It’s a weird sensation, especially after spending years doing barbell work for 95 % or my training.

Its the best row machine for sure, but the chest pad needs more adjustments for us long torso folks and probably needs wrap around padding on the sides and top as it's pretty painful. Also ALL of the Prime machines need different peg material as the plates sometimes stick. If you are ever at a gym that has bumpers (WHY?!?!?!?!?) and you have to add and remove a bunch of those plates regularly you will develop a deep hatred of their plastic/rubber/whatever material on the plate pegs.

Well, your muscles all grow pretty much the same but the placement on your body makes it hard to hit them in the way that's best for growth. Also what's probably the reason that the stretch is more effective is because if the muscle doesn't get stronger it's literally gonna rip apart(also it causes more damage so it makes sense you r body wants to prepare for that), if the muscle can't hold the top all that happens is that you fail but the chance injury is much lower than I f you were talking to fail in the stretched position in a real life event(not the gym)
