This is exactly why I read the comment section. Waiting for someone to think the same thing I was thinking. With that said does the camera have a digital record that it is being turned on and off. Also it sounds like the husband didn't leave the farm. If him finding out pig mean her life would she take the chance o f him or her children catching her. Our story teller really is correct. There is an enormous amount of unanswered questions and I believe she said if I'm not mistaken that she watched the whole trial. This channel sure gets you thinking

I don't know about "clearly innocent" but I definitely agree his case was mishandled. How was he found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt when there is obviously doubt. I'm not gonna start blaming the son like everyone else (cos thats just gross) but I do like Bailey's take on it, she slipped and did actually fall on it twice. I would like to see the area where she was found too.

I immediately thought of the son, Tristan. Like he was the one who found the body, he was alone going to get water, which was a lot closer to the red shed than his father was...what if he did it? And of course, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE INVESTIGATORS?! No one thought to, I dunno, INVESTIGATE?

American police seem to do this all the time it’s like they are fixated on somebody from the beginning and all they do is try to prove that guilt rather than remain open-minded. I’m 100% sure almost at least 90% that it was O.J. Simpson son that killed Nicole and not O.J. Simpson but O.J. Simpson went to the scene to drive his son away hence getting blood from the scene. The thing is the parent would probably rather go down than frame their own child but I guess would ideally like both to get off with it

Oh I 100% think it was the son it makes more sense 🤷🏼 he probably found out his mom cheated and was going to divorce his dad and take him away from his dad and the farm. Tristan didn't like that so he killed her. So that he wouldn't be taken away.

I’m also wondering if the dad knew it was the son because think about it…the dad stuck to his story about them not leaving each other’s sight the whole time yet the son claims to have went to get a drink of water. Doesn’t that mean the dad would have to confirm that did indeed happen? That little bit there probably would have had them questioning the son now right? Since it would look like dad was covering for him. Detectives were not detectiving 🤦🏻‍♀️

I was thinking the same thing. Like growing up in a small town, it could take an hour or more for an ambulance to even arrive, and that’s way to long to wait around while a loved one is hurt or dying. So him getting her in the truck and leaving before calling the ambulance as he’s leaving makes literally so much sense to me.

I kept thinking it was going to be revealed as the son. He found out his mum was cheating on his dad, maybe gave her something hence the dizziness, 'went to get water' and committed the crime! Maybe that's why he was so shaken up and traumatised in the car.. he could have also made the Google searches on his dads ipad

What if she honestly fell? Because she was having dizzy spells. There was no splatter at the scene, and the space was so tight according to 48 hours you couldn’t really move in there. Or the son found out his mom was cheating on his dad and raged out. I think Todd is innocent tbh

We've had to call the ambulance for my grandma a few times for difficulties with her diabetes and other medical reasons and they can almost never find our house and when they do it's already been about 45 minutes. We could've gotten her there quicker but we weren't able to move her at the time. So to me, driving that person yourself isn't strange at all. More heat of the moment, get them the help they need as soon as possible. (At least with me) when something happens you don't automatically think things through before hand and then later you go back and sort of rethink everything and how it could've gone a different way
@emeryltekutsu4357
@emeryltekutsu4357 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I wouldn't even find it unusual in a city. If you know how to get to the hospital, it may be the fastest option to get them to help. There would be plenty of situations where I might say, "Let's get rolling" rather than stop and make a call. Everyone has a cell phone, make the call en route!
@rylangrimes1239

Also Tod’s reaction to the questioning is actually pretty accurate. Especially in small towns with how little males are allowed to show emotions. We don’t have big break downs. No man cries at a death and women focus on caring for everyone before processing emotions. And small town rumors are very accurate where everyone knows everything. But affairs can be more easily hidden than you think. Lots of back roads that everyone knows like the back of their hand and just going for a drive is what you do. There aren’t places to hangout at. There is no park, mall, places people go. You steal the farm hand truck, you pick up your friends and go “cruising” down back roads.

*Edit: I looked this up and another appeal for Todd was denied 2/2022 😢* I'm new to Bailey and just watched this video and I'm... Appalled. To come to a guilty verdict, the jurors needed to believe BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT that the husband did it. There is so much reasonable doubt here. I'm even surprised this case wasn't dismissed before it even got to trial due to lack of evidence. The defense was grossly negligent and I sincerely hope the husband continues to try appealing, taking it up the system and gets a new day in court. *I also don't think it's strange at all for him to drive before calling - when you live in the middle of nowhere, you're used to handling things differently. *I also don't think it's strange that the son changed his story. I think it's reasonable that the son didn't recall getting the drink in the first place, and then began to second guess himself while being pressured by prosecution. *The audio tape thing is bad practice all around. As Bailey said, you can hear many things in audio when you're prompted. At least the defense had a decent alternative for that. But, I'm disappointed that the defense didn't object when the prosecutor "interpreted" (really, a viewer at home) the audio... The prosecutor was testifying in that moment and prejudiced the jury with what they "heard" and that is absolutely not allowed. They needed to put someone on the stand who would testify to what was being said on the tape - an expert. Which wouldn't have happened at that point in the trial, since an expert wouldn't have been on the witness list since the prosecution got the idea from a random person! 🤦‍♀️🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦 *What was the timeline of the searches? Meaning, I think most people would agree that Todd was not the only person using the iPad. How much time passed between a search for a dress and the suspicious search? So. Many. Questions. Google searches can suggest what a person is thinking about, but in no way do internet searches determine actions. Correlation does not equal causation! People are curious, and if Todd did make those searches, it means he was having bad thoughts about his wife - it doesn't mean he acted on it. It is weak circumstantial evidence. Reasonable doubt.

I agree with you. There was no legal support for a conviction on this one, so I'm guessing the prosecution manipulated the jury into their interpretation of events and his defense didn't do much to counter it. This is so far from being beyond a reasonable doubt 🤦‍♀️

As someone who also acts impulsively in sudden, panicky situations- I saw myself doing the "drive to the hospital first, and call 911 on the way" decision as well if I were him. Especially if they lived so far away, I'd hope to bring her to the hospital as soon as possible and cut paramedic travelling time with however much closer I can get to the hospital using my car. I'm not saying Todd isn't guilty 100% but I definitely don't think there was enough, or even substantial evidence to convict him with that charge(yet). The dude deserves another trial. They judged him on textbook reactions and never considered how different individuals would react to situations.

100% - if you are 1 hour out from the hospital then: Explaining to the dispatchers, giving the address and waiting for the ambulance to find you = 1 hour. Get in the car and start driving and maybe meet the ambulance half way = 30 minutes. Not unreasonable in the heat of the moment to just go for it without really thinking.

In 10th grade, over a weekend, a school mate and friend who lived on a farm died in a piece of farming equipment while doing his farm chores. His clothing had gotten caught and he couldn't free himself. No one was near enough to turn the equipment off and it was a horrible death. It was a large farm and everyone knew the family. Because of the way our names fell he had always sat in front of me. Staring at his empty chair the rest of the year was quite horrible. RIP Leslie

Personally, I think that Todd was trying to cover for his son. Tristan’s story was the only one that changed AND he was the one who “found” his mom. Perhaps he saw an opportunity to overpower his mom in her weak state because he knew she was having affairs and thought his dad was being too lenient. And *IF* Tristan did it, he would have likely had blood on him, and that’s why Todd laid her body across him and Tristan in the car. So that the blood could be dismissed by doing this. Also, I have a difficult time believing a grown adult would search about ancient cultures doing away with adulterers. I don’t know, just seems kind of childish to me. On top of jewelry searches and Pinterest, other people besides Todd used the iPad. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Edit: I’m watching some of the court trial right now because at this point I’m invested, lol. And the son DID know about the affair! He said that his dad brought it up to him a few times.... motive? I think yes.

Literally I live in Iowa not too far from Anamosa and I'm certain that's what happened. With a lot of these small towns they don't have their own fire department/ambulance/police/emergency services. You have to go to the nearest city for that. So when something happens in a small town, ambulances take F O R E V E R to get there and THEN they take F O R E V E R to get back to the hospital. It's honesetly just faster to go to the hospital yourselves, and alert 911 while you're already on your way. IDK why the cops thought that was so suspicious, that's literally what everyone in small towns out here does when something happens.

Hi hello, as someone who grew up with a farmer as a dad I want to say that all of his actions made complete sense to me and that the investigators clearly didn’t understand how farmer men are. Most of them aren’t very emotional and can appear really cold when they do in fact care deeply about things, and everything that was listed about Tod being the paranoid one and wanting to make the marriage work only proves that exact instance to me. They act on instinct. As a farmer you have to be on your toes *especially* in an emergency and you end up acting on impulse and try and figure things out as you go along, his first instinct to put her in the truck makes sense because it was the first thing he thought of to do and in a rural area it would’ve been a quicker way to get to the hospital then to sit there and wait 45 minutes or longer for an ambulance. He acted on impulse, as farmers do. I believe that Tod is innocent and I’m with everyone here that the one that needs to be questioned is Tristan- he’s the only one that left his dad for any amount of time, changed his story, and of course is the one everyone would least expect. His motive could’ve been he found out about his mom’s divorce plan and didn’t want to leave? maybe he somehow figured out of caught on that she was cheating on Tod *again*? I feel like he really needed to be looked into more, there’s so many things that make no sense…

As a 911 operator for almost 10 years, it’s not uncommon for people in rural areas to take it upon themselves to drive people to the hospital, sometimes it can take up to a half an hour for an ambulance just to get to the scene of the accident. I’ve taken a lot of calls from people who call 911 while they’re en route to the hospital with the person because they feel like they can get them to the hospital sooner than waiting for the ambulance to get to them and then transport back to the hospital which in a lot of cases is true.

Very true! I grew up in a very small town like this. There were less than 500 people in my town, and we were almost an hour from the next town over where the closest hospital was located. 911 wasn't even used much because of that. If someone had an emergency, you hopped in a car and had someone take you.

ER nurse here. This absolutely happens. I used to worked in a town where the next nearest hospital was 20 miles away. At least once a week someone would do something like this. Also, people do this all the time with their children. It’s rare (I don’t work in a children’s hospital but the city I live in now has one) for a child to come to my hospital by EMS. I’ve taken care of very sick/injured kids whose parents just tossed them in the car and drove them. This is not uncommon.

We are not even that far out of town and when I was having a miscarriage my husband drove me to the hospital. Its double time if you wait for an ambulance. There's only so much EMT's can do, they are there to try and get you stable enough to get to a hospital where they have more resources. If you are needing surgery to stop internal bleeding, that's not happening in an ambulance.

I do not understand why Tristan was not questioned more thoroughly. 1) He was the first person to find his mom. What if he found her in a compromised position and took advantage of the opportunity? She would not have suspected him to hurt her, so she wouldn’t have struggled with him too much. 2) He left his dad and went to get water changing the time he was gone throughout the course of the investigation. Suspish 3) Tristan most likely would have been able to turn off of the cameras just as easily as his dad. 4) He also would have been able to use his dads iPad to make google searches. 5) He played sports with the Jerry’s kids, is it possible the kids found out about the affair and Tristan decided to take matters into his own hands? 6) Also, do you think Tristan was planning on eventually taking over the farm? Perhaps the idea of divorce and having the farm broken up would have spoiled his future plans? I lived in rural PA most of life and though farming is hard work, it’s also a fairly lucrative business that perhaps Tristan was willing to give up? I’ve got so many questions here.

After watching this episode and listening to Bailey's comments it dawned on me that being a curious person and sometimes googling some weird and crazy s***, it's possible to put yourself in a suspect situation if anything weird or crazy might happen to you or around you. My grandparents were farmers in the very rural town of Sharpsburg, Iowa. It takes so long for an ambulance to get there that it is not uncommon to put someone in the truck and start heading to the hospital and then call 911. A lot of times, neighbors will have scanners and hear a call come in and head towards the emergency to help. By leaving before calling 911, there is a better chance of running into the ambulance en route and getting medical care faster. Todd actually did the right thing by taking off with his wife and then calling 911.

Aztecs? Sounds like maybe the kid was learning about Aztecs in school and connected it with his mom’s actions.. because that’s a really odd thing for an adult to want to know.. 🤔

yes those sounded like kids searches like what adult would read a “10 things about cheating women” on the family iPad like why would he go to google about cheating like he didn’t already go through it?

So he was 13 and probably in like 8th grade right. Well, in lots of curriculums Aztecs are taught in 7th or 8th grade so maybe that's a connection?

Exactly what I thought!!! I remember learning about Aztecs in my school curriculum in my last year in middle school. I would certainly lean towards that being the case, it would seem random for Todd to be googling that.
