You're the rare and precious (and cute) gay man, as it seems all gays are on prep and doing bb, none of them care, they just want to have sex and as much as possible of it. Just like open relationships are so common with gay couples, i find all of that really bad. I miss regular humans like you, you're so nice and cute.

Paul paul I agree. Great to see someone speak up on common sense. It’s also alarming how easily guys believe that their hookup has taken the Prep everyday & consistently for it to be maximized. And there are strains of HIV that have shown to be resistant to Prep.. Also I know it seems like gay guys just give in to open relationships, but the truth is we need more examples of monogamy in the community cos it does exist & is possible too. Open relationships are more visible & loud. Monogamy is more quiet & content but its there & possible none the less.
@sociopathsurvivor7129
@sociopathsurvivor7129 4 жыл бұрын
Evasen I firmly believe the only men who are interested in open relationships are narcissists (those with Narcissistic Personality Disorder) and sociopaths. These people are master manipulators who just use and exploit others. Narcissists are addicted to what’s known in psychology as Narcissistic supply (attention, ego boosting, validation, sex, etc). One supply source (intimate partner) is never enough for a narcissist. They need a harem of supply sources. An open relationship just makes it easy for them to have that harem. It gives them permission so they don’t have to work as hard manipulating and being a deceptive con artist to their partner - even though they are that anyway. It’s just a form of enabling - a way of trying to make their dysfunction functional. It’s the same with kink. So many gay men are attracted to kink for this reason. Many of the “doms” are narcissists and sociopaths too. Lots of the “subs” suffer from borderline personality disorder or are codependents, both of which are ideal prey and targets for narcissists and sociopaths.

I will ALWAYS play it safe no matter what or who it is. I'm not risking my health just for him or anyone. I truly don't know if I could be in a relationship if the guy was positive? Being in a relationship and having to get tested every few months just doesn't sit right and it would always be on my mind and even stress me out. So I don't get why some guys think just because they're on prEp that it's all good and care free. It's my health...my life.

I couldn't agree with you more. I think it's beautiful that for some people a partner's HIV status doesn't mean anything, but to me as you said it would always be in the back of my mind. But this is also coming from someone who gets paranoid about being sick in general!

Keven, I'll give you a real answer: I'm 51, Gen X. I'm certain you've heard this before. I'm not a Luddite or anti-technology in any way, but even though gay dating has always been a challenge, I really feel it's worse than ever because of social media and I don't think I need to outline the reasons. I truly miss the days when I would go to a bar (Woodies in Philadelphia, Private Eyes when stationed in Norfolk). I met my first boyfriend (a Corpsman) at a bar. Our eyes locked from across the dance floor. It sounds like a cliche', but it was truly a special moment. We exchanged numbers using a pencil and piece of paper and were together for 7 years. Now, you go to a bar and people are looking down at their phones. I've used multiple platforms and probably met hundreds of guys, fakes, crack-heads and so-forth. I truly believe there will be a backlash at some point and we will realize social media is a worthless, time-stealing and money-grubbing endeavor. There is no substitute for meeting in real life. As I type, you cannot see me. You don't know if I'm being serious, sarcastic or otherwise, because you cannot see the inflections or nuances from reading a cold string of sentences by an anonymous user. To me, that is chilling. Emojis are worthless. I challenge my gay brothers/sisters to put down the phone for just one week. Do an experiment on yourself: buy a regular flip phone that only has the capacity to call people in case of emergency. Go out to a bar, restaurant, coffee shop and strike up a real conversation. I think we will all be surprised. I feel it is my obligation to generate an opposition to this nonsense. It is ruining lives and all the advice in the world regarding the navigation of cyberspace will (at this point) continue to anger and frustrate. They say the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Try to do something different. What have we got to lose?
@KevenTalks
@KevenTalks 4 жыл бұрын
Very good point. That's exactly why I spent my early 20s going to bars, avoiding dating apps. And there was a time when I thought I'd never use an app like Grindr! Ha! Why did things change? I found that whether at a bar or on app - I had the same experiences of disappointment. I've met flaky guys both on apps and at bars. The amazing thing about apps is you can encounter people who you'd otherwise never meet - many people who never go to bars or participate in "gay social life" for example. BUT I agree with you that there IS something magical about clicking with someone in person - and feeling that chemistry without either party needing to vocalize it. They key, I guess, is to find someone in person who's not staring down at their phone either ;)
@joeburton7784
@joeburton7784 2 жыл бұрын
@43nostromo agree completely. i’m your age as well. i feel like i had more dates and experiences before our phones took over. i have WAY too much to say about all of this. sometimes i can’t stop my brain and seemingly obsessive thoughts about the state of where things are at and my complete disillusionment. there is def a lot of good in technology for sure. but as far as meeting people (and even looking for work etc) you have to weed through a lot more b/s. you HAVE to be out in the real physical world to meet people. but if you don’t go to bars or feel comfortable in social group meetings/clubs etc then this is where social media comes in. but use it sparingly and always find something (hobby) that you focus on that fills more of your time.

Wise words. I kept watching the video while nodding. I couldn't agree more on how reckless many gay men live their sexual lives. I recently got tested for HIV and the doctor asked me if I wanted to get a complete blood count. I didn't know all three kinds of hepatitis can be transmitted sexually. That's why this "prep" argument is quite lame and laughable.

It's gonna pretty scary the gay culture in Indonesia with the grind and HIV detection. well, I see your video uploaded 3 years ago and I just see your youtube video, which was probably the same time in my local place "Surabaya" there was seminars who cancelled by police and some religious people because the seminar tells about "Prevention of HIV from homosexual activity" (#BeraniParty). Because Indonesian people are mostly are Muslim, the biggest unreasonable reason is “for disturbing the public”. But here's the crazy thing, a lot of Indonesian gays are connected and concentrated in big cities like Surabaya, Jakarta, Bandung, they know each other because of Grindr, Twitter, Blued or any gay social media. The good is that kinda sort of a local NGO that cares about HIV but they scare about personal identity, so their campaign with these social media anonymously. However, Grindr culture is the same as your video, they don't care if prep, herpes or not, you hook up then feel great about having sex the go out. it getting worse with society backlash about Gay. first the lack of education about HIV and the stigma with it, second people are usually taking their "Straight Medicine" with marry a woman, because our religion said it is sin and will be forgiven if you marry a woman (But still even after marriage you can still search hook up with Grindr marry culture), lastly according to PBS that HIV transmission highly concentrated from childbirth or woman who gets infected from a man. soo yeah, even there's any local NGO concern about HIV, but remember first the stigma from society, the second you're gay and people don't like it because of religion, third your gay culture same with me, fourth there any "straight medicine" with a loophole. last but least people love raw and do it because they are afraid to buy a condom publicly. so yeah, 101 become gay in Indonesia is just be under the radar and play safe **sorry for my English and grammar error if you notice it

I think they have different kinds of prep drugs other than TRUVADA, same results, but owned by different companies, they'll probably start advertising them soon. TRUVADA is the only one I see being advertised right now.

My thoughts have evolved for sure, but I still think it's so dangerous and reckless for gay men to use PrEP as an excuse to expose themselves and consequently other gay men to a plethora of diseases. I'll never forget my doctor years ago saying "due to PrEP's widespread use, we've seen HIV rates decrease but everything else like Syphilis soar." To me it's kind of like voting - some people vote for self-interest and others vote thinking about the community. I believe we all have a responsibility to think about each other...now of course if you're safe with a partner / hook-up buddies or dating someone who's HIV+ and therefore on PrEP for extra measure, then those are totally different situations than the story I mentioned in this video.

That app is the most creepy app just to find someone ( may that be bed fun or whatever it might lead to ) for me it's feels eerie that there's this map ( location on ) like a mocking jay ( hunger games ) tracker that knows where all the bish at and could kill them anytime , anywhere. Well, its just giving me that horrible feeling that if we use it, our feet is almost six feet under. I don't feel it is safe. So good luck to those using it until now. Just let them be aware of safety or create a video about being careful about themselves if they're going to do " meet at your place " or " my place " kinda thing. But it's not just for a personal decision because then those 2 partners sleep with other people, and that's how STDs spread throughout an entire community.
