This very successful series of concerts at The Felt Form, a smaller venue inside the MadisonSquare Garden Complex, allows the band to perform in a more intimate setting than the Garden would allow, similar to the ambience of the Aquarius Theater show the previous summer. The Doors are in form. They gone back to their earth, their roots, way back to those 1967 Whisky moments in LA, where the singer and musicians come together in a tightly interwoven package of melodic delight. They have given up the orchestral stuff and didn't do one song from The Soft Parade album (except for "the semenary school" passage).Mike Jahn, New York Times Jan 19, 1970: "At least two dozen teen age girls and a quiete few boys had to be dragged away from the Doors' singer, Jim Morrison, by stagehands. The other three Doors played on unperturbed. Mr. Morrison has had troubles before when the police of other cities found his performances variously lewd, lascivious, indecent and profane. But by the standards of the Off-Broadway stage, Morrison's performance is fairly tame. The Doors played their familiar songs quiete well, much better than in the last year's concert in the Garden."
Billboard (Jan 31, 1970)reporter Fred Kirby reports: "The Elektra Records artists actually were more businesslike than often has been their wont, but Morrison conveyed none of his famed eroticism. His voice, however, was distinctive whether singing or screaming. The concentration was on blues
and simple rock. "Light My Fire", which gave organist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger good instrumental bits, was a fitting climax".
Memorable nights that evoke the whole gamut of human emotions, will not to be forgotten for a long time to come.

14 yrs old and my first concert. Took a bus into the city and then the subway to the Felt Forum. Great seats 10th row, dead center procured by my best friend's father. Absolutely great concert, great musicianship and singing. All a die hard Doors fan could ever ask for. Except there was a second show for which tickets were sold out. Being children, not caring about rules we went into the men's room and sat with our feet on the toilet seat till the second show started. And once again we were blown away!!!!!!!!!! Along with the Beatles and Queen the most unique and talented bands of all time.

thanks for the account.... of all the bands you saw in what was a great era, where do you place the doors as a live unit? ... I was too young to see them live, but listening to this performance, esp on WTMO, the intensity level is highly palpable. you were actually there & saw it. im interested to hear your take, in comparison to other great leads, like plant, daltry, jagger etc., did any of them create this type of tension, intensity etc??? ... lastly, my theory on his status & why he doesnt get as much due as he deserves is b/c in fairness, they were inconsistent. Ive heard serveral live garbage nites. listless or too drunk. it hurt the band. ? do you agree?

My first concert at age 14 was the Doors Washington, DC Hilton hotel Nov.1967! My mom heard them when she came to pick us up...said Ray's organ sounded like church music. That concert opened my mind to new ways of thinking. I ended up getting into Transcendental Meditation like Robby, Ray and John. Still love the Doors at age 70.

I’ve heard many Doors live performances, and this is one of the best. I’m baffled by suggestions that Jim is drunk, tired, or whatever. He sounds great, the band sounds great, and the sound quality is amazing. So glad I found this!

Jim Morrison’s dead dick. EXPLANATION XF - 2 STATUS:-CLASSIFIED IN EXTREME (AUTHORISED ACCESS ONLY) Writing in the Summer 1991 edition of Mondo 2000 Queen Mu brought to light a medical file that had recently surfaced which confirmed Morrison was suffering from adenoma of the penile urethra, or in layman’s terms, cancer of the penis. A condition brought on by repeated cases of gonorrhoea, a condition for which Morrison had been repeatedly treated by medical workers at UCLA. The only known cure for this was amputation of the infected area, i.e.: full castration. Unable to continue recording pop hits as a castratto and face the public ignominy and shame of having lost his penis (a prerequisite for a sex symbol like Jim), Morrison fakes his own death and disappears. The only surviving sexual pleasure left to a castrated male is stimulation of the prostate gland via anal intercourse. All of which explains Morrison’s subsequent post death appearances in San Francisco, both at the bank and most especially the gay clubs.

My favorite Rock~n~Roll band of ALLTIME; I was not even a five-year-old Rock~n~Roller when I first discovered Jim & The Doors. They had JUST made “Light my fire”🔥 It was flying to the top of the charts! Myxhxc Mum turned me on to them and I was their BIGGEST FAN aft I recall choosing that song 🎶 on those lil jukeboxes that sat on table’s in most restaurants……”a different time, a different World!”🌎 Jim Morrison🦎👑 & The Doors 🚪music WILL ALWAYS live on, in my world and many, many other’s!!!

I remember the 4th of July dress I made to go out to the battle of the bands with you was red white and blue my intent, in my haste I had not noticed the fabric I bought at the new Pickwick yarns and fabric, was alternately design of upside-down and right-side up fancy vimanas...weird. the battle was at the old east Norwalk high-school stadium in Southern Connecticut love you through infinity and back again. You lit my fire that night for real ha ha ha ha

Wow. That Morrison dude has such a husky honey-coated voice. Heh. [PS Thanks Jesus Deras Alvarez for all the fantastic photos on your uploads] PPS That intro to National Anthem where Jim asks the audience to stand & be respectful & then begins to scream "Petition the Lord To Prayer" & the audience bursts out laughing when they realize Jim was goofing. Then the 4 geniuses blast into Light My Fire & Ray & Robbie are en fuego w those solos. And The Lizard King dpes not sound drunk. He's on point for hours. Bless these brilliant men. Some of the most exciting nights of my life were seeing & hearing them live]

Yes, and just WHAT THIS WORLD NEEDS TODAY! SOME REAL TALENT. IV'E BEEN LISTENING TO IT FOR OVER THE PAST YEAR, SIMPLY BECAUSE NONE OTHER EXISTS TO COMPARE. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS CREATED OVER 50 YRS AGO, WHEN I WAS A MERE BABE.

Veterans Memorial Coliseum. I was in eighth grade. Spring 1968. It was at the Coliseum in Phoenix. We got 3.5 songs. Then, the crappy veterans decided we had had enough. Chaos and mayhem. But, I remember women with their tops off. So...everything was super-fine.
