@@Dubhain I didn’t think about it that way but your absolutely right there just isn’t any other plausible explanation for that. Ten children dead before they caught onto her??? Yeah right that was flat out negligent and was looked at as the old “one less needy mouth to feed and take care of” probably kept them from drinking and sleep so they wanted her to kill their children. I just can’t see it any other way after reading your comment it makes complete sense. Thank you for that, I was totally baffled until that idea was brought up. Good job on that one dude.

I'm fascinated by the fact that doctors attributed the deaths to so many different factors. It's not as if they didn't have the ability to tell the difference between strangulation and seizures, let alone typhoid fever. I actually went back and listened to the other case the lawyer defended to see if there were any similarities. It struck me that twice in this case he had the autopsy repeated and each time got a totally different cause of death, each time getting Jeanne acquitted. Tho it is worth pointing out the fantastical use of hypnotism brought up in the other case as well as people who knew the girl in her youth and could (quite conveniently) recall the ease with which she could be hypnotized. One can't help but wonder how liberal this lawyer was in dispersing "encouragements" for witnesses to change their stories.🤔

I know right, even punched in the face, that demon didn't want to let go! And somehow the asylum of Nanterre deemed her sane!!! Crazy to think she had lived next to my town at one point, if I was a 20th century kid under her care, she could have crushed my cervical bones and people would be like "nah, it was the diphteria"! Also, the jury at this trial is why I am wary about the people's good judgement: they're unable to think rationally, so their emotions dictate their decision. Ignorance is tragic stupidity during these instances...

Good morning BC, and the BC Monday Morning Crew!! I hope everyone is doing well, and getting into the Christmas spirit!! 🇨🇦🎄❤️ Sometimes we wonder how a mother back then could get away with killing so many children (we've seen so many similar cases), but we have to remember that we're talking about a time when child mortality rates were very high. It wasn't unusual for a couple to have a dozen or more children, and only have 2 or 3 survive past early childhood. When a child died, most doctors weren't looking for signs of murder. And with poor hygiene and unhealthy living conditions being prevelant amongst the less privileged, almost anything could become deadly to a young child/baby...food poisoning, almost any illness that caused a fever or diarrhea, sepsis from an injury (even a minor one), accidents, etc. Doctors were dealing with the deaths of so many children, that if a mother said her child had been sick, the doctor probably just took them at their word, filled out the death certificate, and moved on. Even in this case, where other children were dying while in her care, it might be easy to convince an overworked or apathetic doctor that they caught something from someone in the neighbourhood, just like her children had. Unless someone was caught in the act, as Jeanne was, or a diligent doctor became suspicious about the deaths of a significant number of children from one family, or under the care of one woman, and decided to investigate, the women were apt to get away with it. (However, after she'd been caught once, don't ask me to explain the idiot who hired Jeanne to look after his child.😳)

I was struggling to understand how folks even in the early 20th century would trust physicians' conclusions that nothing nefarious happened to these poor children, despite very obvious evidence that would support the common-sense conclusions otherwise, but then it hit me: _"Trust the science."_

This was a very intriguing and yet "horrific," story about Jeanne Weber, who murdered ten children including her own. I don't comprehend how physicians, attorneys and her own family members weren't suspicious of her and the various children who died in her care. May the souls of these children rest in eternal peace.🌹Great investigating, presentation and historical information, too.

I so enjoy this channel and the journeys into the past, the crimes, the conditions and circumstances, people lived in. If you think, this crime happened just a good 100 years ago, it's amazing to learn how naive/gullible some people were, still permitting this woman to watch and ultimately murder their children, is mind-boggling. Thank you so much for all your research and sharing your work with us. It's much appreciated.

It was poetic justice ,was'nt it that the monsterand mad woman eventually committed suicide .The Doctors were so negligent .Could she have bought them .Then we have the heartless lawyers who for the greed of money will defend murderers .No conscience and how they can sleep after acting for monsters like this woman baffles l .

Who on earth would leave their child with this woman? Especially after finding red marks on the neck??? Many many people lived in these terrible conditions at that time, dypyheria wouldn’t have left marks on the outside of the neck? Even if they’d just thought her unlucky, I certainly wouldn’t have left children with her!!

Uh-oh, bad physicians. They both overlooked the marks on their necks. Those Doctors were not very competent. One thing that jumped out at me, most of the deaths were of females. It makes me wonder whether or not she actually was "trying to save those girls from what she perceived as the way that society treated the poor". The 9th death should have been obvious to have been murder. Uh-oh another worthless bunch of idiots who think that no one is responsible for their own actions. 11 murders, and only one conviction. I give the attorney credit for being a good defense counsel. To win 3 of 4 murder trials, with a guilty client, shows his expertise.

She killed whatever kid she could get her hands on, regardless of sex. She wasn't a social justice warrior or a philosopher, she was just an evil lunatic. Also, she had access to lots of kids in the so-called asylum, and she killed a boy
