I think it looks like Apple will let another Mac Pro die on the vine. It will not get upgraded. Just like the Mac Pro 2015. Looks worse and worse for the money. Imagine thinking that THIS time they will not let me down, because it looked upgradeable. You are stuck on old AMD GFX and Intel Xeon parts that just can not compete with AMD Threadripper or even Ryzen 9. Apple Mac Pro on ARM will be beasty, but it remains to be seen what happens to the Xeon users upgradewise..

So is it possible to fit the Crucial Ballistix RAM with the NH-D15 inside a 5000D Airflow? From case and air cooler specification I thought I had to buy LPX RAM, but seems I just have to move the air cooler front fan to let it fit. Hope you can reply me and that I wrote it well, thank you, greets from Italy!

The build looks amazing! I was a bit surprised to see you focus on thermals so much but choosing a case with a psu shroud. As far as I know the shroud makes it harder to get fresh air to the GPU and in the front you don't have a fan directly pointed towards the underside of the GPU where it takes in air. Does the GPU suck from the back of the case with the current configuration? Not that it would matter much because it seems like you're hitting all targets you've wanted to hit but when thermals are a main priority it doesn't seem optimal? I'd be interested to see what would happen if you run benchmarks with and without the side panel. My theory is gpu temperatures would improve a lot! I'm not quite sure how much GPU heat kicks up to the CPU. Probably not enough to make a difference if CPU and not overal cooling was the main priority.

Also is it any beneficial to go for 5800x than 3900x- I want to use it for Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, After effects, Davinci & maybe blender after some time- I do more multitasking, chrome-Adobe Pr-Photoshop-After effects. Now about the money side, I saved close to 8000$ (US) for pc (I see it as investment that will last me many years), and pc peripherals. I’m not an expert but the 3080 offers similar performance as the 3090 for $800 cheaper, and paired with the 5900x it would be a beast for 1440p 165hz gaming on high settings, although if I could I would go with the 5950x.

CAD software only requires a mid range GPU but if you get into 3D rendering with Octane / Redshift the 24 gigs of VRAM can be very useful on the 3090 but unless you're sure of it, I don't think future proofing your GPU or any components that way is a good idea. Buy what you need today and don't try and predict the future too much. Software and hardware change so fast you can't even predict what your needs are from one year to the next. It was just two years ago that I needed the fastest CPUs I can afford, I had 5 computers rendering.. that's all flipped now, I have one computer with 3 GPUs rendering!.. But we may find ourselves going back to CPU rendering because AMD broke the damn on multithreaded technology and even Adobe is taking notice and are now retooling their software to be more CPU centric again. So yeah.. build a machine that can handle your needs today and the not too distant future. By year 3 you'll be salivating over all the new tech no matter what anyway.

@@timotmon I use 3D modeling, and rendering currently for personal use. I do plan to play some games on same pc. I don't like upgrading every so often, or ever if possible. Used to work on 3400G, and ASUS GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER TUF 6GB gpu (so slow. :( ). Do you think I could get away for now with 5900X + 6800XT or would I need 5950X + 3090 (better software compatibility vs AMD, or has that changed) ? Or is Intel 10900K + 3090 less fussy with software ( less working on it to work as it should) ? Only big thing that matters to is that it works with little to no problems.
@timotmon
@timotmon 3 жыл бұрын
@@antoniocepaj7544 If you're looking to do some creative work, I would avoid Radeon cards. They're not bad but not as versatile. Radeon is Great for games but Nvidia does that and more via CUDA. Also there's no data that I know of that suggests it's better to pair Radeon card with a Ryzen CPU. Also If I were just having fun in 3D for personal reasons, I would absolutely not spend all that money on a 3090. The only reason I got the 3090 was that I really need to be open to client work that may require an absurd amount of high res textures in Octane / Redshift. To be honest, I still haven't gotten that kind of job yet so I'm not even utilizing those 24Gigs yet. HOWEVER, as I understand, games like cyber punk burn through a lot of VRAM so that may be an indicator that games are only going to get more VRAM hungry. I don't play games so yeah as of today a 3080 would much better bang for the buck.. even a 3070 paired with either a 5950X or 5900X is a great system. I would also build this on a full ATX.. Also, don't cheapen out on the motherboard, these CPUs run hot so you need a good VRM that can handle them for the long term. Most ATX boards over $200 that I've seen have sufficient VRMs. I'm on a ASUS ProArt B550-Creator and very pleased with it so far. You'll need a good cooler as well.. the Noctua NH-D15 is always a sure bet.. I use the DarkRock Pro 4. It's only about 1 or 2 degrees warmer on average. Or something like a 240mm AIO or bigger water cooler.

Nice build, thanks for the very informative video, this is what I like to see on videos, after many many years of trying AMD stuff, my preference is Intel, their CPUs run cooler hence less heat and noise emanating from your pc. It is what I have run on my PCs for decades. Sorry but AMD chips run hot and takes a lot of cooling to keep the PC quiet during high workloads, try Cybepunk 2077 on an AMD cpu with an RTX gpu and your temps will soar. Compared to the Intel systems I have there is no comparison. Just my two and a half cents and is tax time here in America, so the IRS will get 1 1/2 cents and leave me with 1 cent if I'm lucky. 😅🤣😂

Make sure the direction of your case fans are in the right direction. You want the exhaust fans with the face toward the cpu , remember “faces suck” . Also remove any front panel that could be restricting airflow coming into the case. I removed mine and saw instantly 5 degree drop in cpu temp. Thirdly when mounting the cpu cooler make sure you screw on alternative sides so that you get an even pressure onto the cpu.

That is the nature of this CPU when run in PBO2. It can pull up to 1.5 volts on the fastest cores when doing single threaded tasks on 3-4 cores at once. This is an extremely high voltage which the CPU requires to achieve super high clocks of up to 5ghz in lightly threaded workloads. Gaming loads is when this CPU is the hottest IMO as it needs that high voltage to sustain those high clocks. I have the same chip hooked up to a custom water loop with a 360mm (45mm thick) copper radiator and my idle temps sit around 55-60C. My gaming temps can hit up to 79C which is insanely high for gaming temps. My all core stress test temps stay around 83-84C on a 4.5ghz all core OC at 1.235 volts. So what you’re witnessing there is normal behaviour and this chip really is a god damned furnace which really requires a custom loop.

Mine 5950x can't do even 4 ghz on all cores. Usually it's around 3.9. Single core is only 4.4-4.5ghz

Why didn't you bother cable training your cable extensions? The build would look so much cleaner without the cable extensions all tangled.

So you did you finally read the AMD site and learn how these processors work? That they're meant to run at higher temperatures, or are these Ryzen 5000 series CPU's still to 'hot" for content creators....lol
@theTechNotice
@theTechNotice 3 жыл бұрын
5800x is hotter than the other 5000 series. 5800x runs hotter with a better cooler than this CPU (5950x). A lot of people misunderstood what was said on the 5800x video. Basically if you do a lot of rendering on the 5800x it might be worth getting 5900x or 5950x, coz they will run cooler and faster. I saw 5800x drop 200MHz during a render coz it was reaching 90c. Hope this helps. 👍

good video but the best way to handle the thermals of a RTX 3090 / AMD 5950x is to use liquid cooling IMHO, here is my current build. The GPU temps are 64c under load and the CPU temps are 52c. Point of fact is that the RTX 3090 has GDDR 6 on both sides of the GPU and requires an active backplate to effectively cool to temps below 70c under load. Yes it cost more but the temp differential justifies the cost.
