There just needs to be rules and training for them. Cyclists are at least supposed to ring their bells when approaching pedestrians from behind, ride slowly on crowded paths, and obey road rules when on the road.
@nunbaiter
@nunbaiter 2 жыл бұрын
@@rodiusmaximus honestly I hate their bells. I'm disabled but it's not obvious, if I am walking on a dual purpose path I stick to the left , I can walk reasonably well in a straight line even jog because I have prosthetics in my shoe that make up for the missing structures in my foot, but I can't move well or at a normal pace if I have to change direction or even step to the side. I have cyclists come up behind me in pairs dinging their bells for me to move off the path, it's lucky I don't use a walking stick anymore or I would stick it in their spokes.
@rodiusmaximus
@rodiusmaximus 2 жыл бұрын
@@nunbaiter sorry you've had to go through that. And there sure are dickheads of all shapes, sizes and types. I've never thought that cyclists expect people to get off the path completely. For me, when I'm riding (once a month) half the time when I ring my bell, it's simply to let you know I'm coming so you don't get a shock when I go past. Even that doesn't work half the time because people are plugged into their headphones. Or sometimes people with prams or dogs will be hogging the path. The 2 times I've been hit by a car was when I was riding on the path. Nowhere is safe.

Then add operating an unregistered vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, followed by confiscating the scooter, then waving to the bike riding waker on the footpath because apparently that is OK according to the government and their changes to road laws. A belief in religion does not make anyone a better person in any way. A person is either good or bad, moral or immoral. Belief in nonsense does not somehow change that.
@rodiusmaximus
@rodiusmaximus 2 жыл бұрын
@@VestigialHead you are correct. A murderer might believe in God, and also believe he is Satan's favourite tool. And yes it is possible to be a good person without believing in Heaven or Hell or sin. But atheists generally still hold the law of the land to be true, and jail or other legal penalties for illegal activities do work to a degree as a deterrent. The problem with your position is that morals (as you call them) can be relative, and you can pick and choose which ones you adhere to, because you have no higher power to report to. So, a 'good person' can still engage in illegal or immoral acts, because they have differing standards on what they believe is immoral. And at the same time, that can also be true for religious people (they just need to say sorry and promise not to do it again).
@VestigialHead
@VestigialHead 2 жыл бұрын
@@rodiusmaximus That is also the issue of anyone who is religious. They pick and choose which morals they adhere to all the time. I have met a lot of religious people in my life and not one of them is sticking to the morals of the ten commandments. Let alone the much more comprehensive set of morality humans have created since then. The morals of the Bible are outdated and incomplete at best. Only three of the ten commandments have anything to do with morality. Yes it is disugusting that some religious people think they just have to pray on their immorality and say sorry to no one (except maybe themselves) and their sins are forgiven. Much better to actually understand why morality exists and do it for the sake of others and the benefit of all. Rather than only doing it because you fear retribution from some made up magic creature.
@rodiusmaximus
@rodiusmaximus 2 жыл бұрын
@@VestigialHead interesting... so which 3 of the 10 are actual morality? And what do you think morality means? I'm guessing your 3 are theft, murder and adultery. Which would mean that lying, perjury, and other derivations such as gaslighting, forgery, and cheating are totally not immoral. Coveting your neighbours' wife or possessions is in there too. But of course, that's totally fine as well. Nevermind that the first step to adultery (which I'm still assuming is your 3/10) and theft would be coveting. So assuming you're totally ok with lying, cheating, and pre-meditation of theft and adultery, that's just a perfect example of how morals differ between people. And your previous statement about 'good people' is only relative to any person's personal belief about what is 'good.'

As someone who is genuinely spiritual and does crystal healing Byron Baes makes my Beliefs look stupid. I promise you we don’t all have a fake soothing voice and talk about crystals 24/7. There is a lot of miss information about crystals and their healing properties and this show just feeds into that. Doesn’t even surprise me if none of them actually are genuine believers in crystal healing. The producers probably told them to believe in them to fit the scene. There was so much miss information spread on that show through “spiritual people.” So as someone who truly is in that world and lives and breathes that everyday it infuriated me. Also genuine question but has anyone ever heard of these “social media” stars? Never heard of any of them.

Can agree with that. When we first started visiting Byron it still had that unique, down low, gentle vibe (although the cops would tell you diferent every Saturday night) but even in just the dozen years since, you can see it is taken over by . . . what Isaac said.
