Hi Scotty, Could you please help me answer my question? I own a mercedes C klasse C200 CDI from 2002. It has a fuel distributor(Common rail assembly) with at one end a fuel pressure sensor(sender unit) and at the other end a fuel pressure regulator(control valve). My first question is if you could explain what the difference is between these two. My second question is if it is possible and necesarry to clean them for preventive maintenance like you do to the other sensors with MAF cleaner or other types of cleaners. Could they give faulty readings because of present excessive dirt? Thank you!!

Japanese came over to study what Americans wanted in a luxury car. I rode in a new[1991]Buick Park Avenue. Front wheel drive with a 3.8 V6. The ride quality? I thought I was riding in a Chevette. In the back seat hearing a poorly designed rear suspension and feeling bumps and shudders. Poopoo GM. Selling point to Grandma? "Front wheel drive, good in snow."
@fromthebackofmymind
@fromthebackofmymind 3 жыл бұрын
@@youness.h9404 the Control valve sends excess fuel back to the fuel tank. The pressure sensor sends electric feedback to the engine management computer. They work together to maintain pressure, volume for optimal fuel delivery. Do the loan a tool from nearby auto parts store. Borrow their fuel injector test kit. A bad fuel control valve will cause rich or lean condition. Fuel smells and puddling If too rich. Check pump output a test location on the fuel rail.

10 years ago I paid $500 for a 91 Lexus LS400 on Craigslist with 180k miles that was making a horrendous sound under the hood. The owner was certain the engine was toast. Since the tires were almost new I took the deal. Turns out the horrendous sound was the fan clutch bearing bracket $150 part at Auto store. Changed it out. Purred like a kitten. Still running today. 😀

Changed plugs at 1400,000 K.L.M now use 1 to 1.5 liters less fuel per 100KLM (self fix i guy) No issues except steering column motor trunk struts and air condition rubber hose failure. A clean car in and out no rust. (Canadian winters) Original rotors no vibrations only pads changed. Self changed trans fluid after 16 years (black) 4 changes at 1.7 liters per drain and fill. (recommended by dealer) Had an E 430 (Mercedes)1999 (what a hunk of junk) spent more time under it than in it.👍

The only thing i don't like are the stock wheels and the stock exhaust tips, which are easily modifiable. I'm always temped to pick up a clean one for just several grand. Dear Scotty, thank you for finally doing justice to this Japanese masterpiece. Mine is slightly different, as it is a 2004 Ultra, with air suspension and a 6 speed transmission. I keep telling myself that the price of gas is offset by the better safety potential of this vehicle. Previously, you made mention of the higher maintenance costs of this V8 relative to the Toyota V6s and the starter position underneath the engine... With the power switch on and with higher quality fuel, the car does accelerate more impressively than in your video. This car is a keeper.

If timing belt is cracked, it's time to think about replacement. Engine can run on and on with no internal repairs for 1 million miles or more (Matt Farrah's) but when belt breaks, valves hit pistons and engine is junk quickly. For most vehicles I've seen (old and new) 100k miles is about the life of most timing belts. On older Honda's it used to be about every 60k (but this was also at a time when people were only driving 12k per year so about every 5 years, nowadays 60k is probably more like 3-4 years of driving, but most modern cars that still having timing belts, can go 100-120k). Luckily companies like Honda did away with them in the Civic and Accord (And possibly others) because IMO the benefit of a belt (mainly weight savings) doesn't outweigh the potential for problems, especially if you're bad with maintenance. At least with a chain as long as you change your oil regularly and keep it topped off (so the chain is lubed) then you don't really have to worry about it for the life of the vehicle. But at the same time if someone sayd you never have to change a timing belt (or it's a lifetime belt) don't believe them. I'd error on the side of only doing 100k at most on any timing belt, but read the manual and find out when the mfr recommends replacing it). It's a little less of an issue if a belt breaks on a non-interference engine.

I get about 25 mpg hwy on a 04 LS430 with 60k miles. It's great car. Only oil and one set of brake pads/front rotors. That's it.

I own two LS430's. One is the base model and the UL. I've replaced a transmission in one and removed the air suspension in the same car. The base model, gave me waaaayyy less issues than the UL, naturally. But I'd buy either one again. Solid car

A broken timing belt on a non-interference engine might not destroy the engine but it could leave you stalled in the middle of the freeway or on some train tracks.
