I had a leak from the cold water spout ,tried everything Primo advised!! Didn’t work I was ready to trash it, but thought before I do let me open the front panel to see what it looks like. So I pried it open in the front where it’s says “PRIMO” using a flathead screw driver. The problem was easy to see why this happens, where the spouts are and the top button have this long stem when pressed down pushes the lever down. If they are not aligned correctly, or slightly off can cause a drip, or no water to come out. So I aligned the best way I could by keeping the stems in the slot of the water flaps then placed the front part panel and pushed on, but not all the way just enough to test it. I tested it to make sure both water tabs dispense freely and stop when released, then adjusted slightly as I went along. Took about 7 tries of placing the stems and tabs aligned, then closed the panel. (When opening I broke the manufacture tabs that keep it tightly shut, but was able to replace without any problem) Finally fixed and it had nothing to do with the water bottle. If it can be helped it would recommend buying a unit that has the spouts out in front and showing, probably less chances if this happening,or at least easier to fix yourself.

If anyone hears water pouring down from the inside leaking on the floor, I've found that there is a water tube zipped tied to the water reservoir. I loaded a 5gl bottle and water just poured. I removed the black grill from the rear and there I discovered a plastic "J" tube disconnected and dumping water. Hope this helps, I almost bought another water dispenser.

for some stupid reason the tube is made too short and must be stretched to fit back on, causing constant tension on the damn thing absolute mongoloids built this thing

Primo recommends that you use the instructions below to dissolve mineral deposits, sanitize, and deodorize your dispenser every 3-4 months. Time Required: 30 minutes Need: (2) tablespoon regular bleach or (2) cups of distilled white vinegar, (1) Empty 5 gallon bottle, (1) 2-gallon bucket and a Philips head screwdriver. 1. Turn energy saving switches to OFF. 2. Unplug power cord from wall outlet. 3. Remove water bottle. 4. Move appliance away from wall to gain access to the back. 5. Remove remaining water from reservoirs by dispensing from the hot and cold taps into a pitcher or bucket. 6. Remove the cap from a spare empty 5 gallon bottle. Pour the bleach (2 tbsp.) or vinegar (2 cups) and hot tap water (2 Gallons) into the empty bottle. 7. Apply the cleaning bottle to the dispenser. 8. Allow the cleaning solution to fill the reservoirs. 9. Wait 10 minutes then drain the water from the reservoirs as described in step 5. 10. Rinse the bottle and fill with only hot tap water and apply it to the dispenser. 11. Place a two gallon bucket in the back of the appliance and remove the drain plug, while also flushing water through the taps (step 5). 12. Replace the silicone plug and drain cap. 13. Return the unit to its location, install a fresh water bottle, plug the power cord into the grounded wall outlet and turn the energy saving switch ON.

This was tremendously useful advice and solved my problem. Be prepared for a 35-40 min. Job if you embark on this endeavor but it beats the hell out of spending $200 to replace the dispenser

Why does no one mention the possibility of a hole in the bottle causing and air leak situation? I have received several split seam bottles that don't leak until inverted.

Hole on the bottom - so when inverted to go into the dispenser the hole makes the water constantly leak out of the normal spot? Is this what you mean? Had a water cooler do this to me on a leaky bottle and the water was dripping from a spot I didn’t even think it would … the top was over flowing and going down the side of the dispenser. Then I took the jug off noticed it was leaking out the bottom (or the top when on the dispenser). What a nightmare !

Brought the unit (top loader exactly like in this video) home, set it up, and within 24 hours noticed it was leaking. Inspecting the back of the dispenser, I noticed water slowly dripping from the red drain plug which is located about 2/3 of the way down on the right. It's covered by a small see-through plastic guard, held on by one phillips head screw. The plug had slightly backed out of its receptacle. I simply removed the plastic cover with a screwdriver, pushed the plug back in, and placed the cover back on. Problem solved. If you have leakage issues not coming from the top, this is a good place to look. Pretty shoddy quality control to have a simple item like this get out of the factory.

On this model I have my cold water button it's sloppy now but it still works but I can't find a video on removing the button.ive had this thing probably 3 years we use it probably 50 times a day idk I'd like to fix it

I have the YL1133AS and ran only 3 5 gallon jugs of water through it before it started leaking out of the cold tap. I figured it was something major and we had already had it for a while so I assumed it was a lost cause. However, I came across more information on how to "clean" the taps to free the minerals and whatnot that could be causing it. I've attempted the bleach remedy multiple time and have had no success whatsoever. I was just curious if there is more to it than directed via the link in the video above? Pretty depressing when you can't count on a device that costs as much as these do to last more than a couple of jugs of water. Please advise.

Derek Nicholson, I had the same issue. I cleaned the system with bleach AND vinegar. Nothing worked so I started taking the damn thing apart. Found a small sliver of plastic blocking the valve which would caused the leaking. Start with the back panel plate so you can remove the front panel. Once the front panel is removed you can see the tap that is leaking. You’ll need to snip some zip ties. Be careful or to cut the rubber. Once you get that part out, look for anything that could be blocking the valve from closing. Mine looked like a long sliver of plastic. Possibly from the inside of a 5gal jug. You’ll need zip ties and to put carefully put everything back together. No leeks! Good luck.

Mine leaks from the overflow hole next to the cold water spout. What causes that?

Theres a rubber thing that covers the overflow hole from the bottom. That thing probably has a hole in it. Thats your problem and everybody elses that has a top leak.

Got mine for Christmas and it’s already leaking. Customer service is a joke, lady gave me attitude and talked to me like I was stupid the whole time. Currently doing the internal leak test to see if it could be the bottle but will never use this brand again.

My water dispenser leaks from the (leak guard) probe receptacle. Right through the crack where it meets the actual cooler. We've had this water dispenser less than six months. We had a bottom loader Primo dispenser before this one and that one also stopped working within a year of purchase. It wouldn't pull the water up from the bottle to dispense it.

I HAVE A PRIMO TOP LOADER. MY UNIT DEVELOPED A LEAK AT THE OVERFLOW VAQLVE. LOCATED JUST BESIDE THE COLD WATER OUTLET.. THIS LEAKE DEVELOPED JUST AFTER I INSTALLED A NEW 10 GAL WATER JUG. IT NEVER LEAKED BEFORE. AFTER TALKING TO SOMEONE AT THE MAIN OFFICE. HE SENT ME A VIDEO FOR TROUBLESHOOTING. HE SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A DEFECTIVE WATER JUG. WHICK IT WAS. I THINK I PEALED AWAY SOME OF THE PLASTIC COVERING AROUNG THE TOP OF THE WATER JUG. AFTER INSTALLED A NEW WATER JUG. THAT FIXED IT.

Top spill proof cap leak: there is a rubber thingy that is very flimsy that goes over the overflow\air hole on the inside if the ring. If theres a hole in that, and there is mostly, youll leak all over the place. Plug the overflow hole somehow and ill bet your leak is gone but then you wont have good water pressure/suction if you dont replace the rubber cap thingy whatever it is.

I would try what I did, and if you still want a replacement, buy one with the spouts out front and showing, much easier to replace spouts.

Well, I just opened up my new navy blue primo water dispenser. As soon as I put it on I notice some spillage... Okay common with these. But then it kept flowing and leaking all over the floor. I remove the bottle which is not a primo bottle btw. Still has a little more than half.... anyway I am trying to figure out if I did something wrong or missed a step but I wasn't finding anything. So I decided to do a test outside. So I brought the unit outside filled a 3 gallon jug up about halfway. This was a different gallon than the one I had used inside. And when I put it on it proceeded to leak from the top of it in the back (there's like 2 holes on the left side of the unit) and also through the cold water spout. I am very disappointed in this. Maybe I should have taken that one bad review from Walmart a little more seriously as it basically stated the exact thing that ended up happening. Other than that the unit looked really nice and looked well built. It just obviously needs to be able to hold the water and not leak out nearly a gallon and a half in a matter of a minute and a half or so. So based on some comments here I'm probably just going to end up returning it to Walmart.

this is from the hose that connects the tank directly to the spout, they made it too short and just zip tied it on anyways so its always wanting to pull off, i would recommend a better brand.

Hope you take pride in helping me fix mine then. Our leaked all over the floor making a huge mess. After troubleshooting Any top seal issues I turned it around and saw a black foam coated hose leaking. Its like 1/2" diameter, not small. At first I thought it was a overflow tube because it was just hanging. Turns out there is a rubber elbo piece that was just zip tied on (No hose clamps) it it must have slowly come undone from normal use. Now I have to disinfect, buy hose clamps. Turns out all the elbos are zip tied. Shoddy workmanship. A fail of that important elbow means 100 percent of the water just flows right out the bottom like a faucet. 5 gallons.

@@sharilarson6635 I stopped using mine. The bottled wather companies don't clean the bottles well. They just rinse with Ozone treated water. The issue is some moronic customers use the bottles to mix chemicals then turn them back in. We have got more than 6 jugs over the past few years with a stong chemical smell. One that does not go away via evaporation. What ever it was it killed fish in a mairine aquarium topping off the water. The weak link is the lack of rinsing by the water bottle companies and the people that choose to use them for purposes other than water.

I just opened mine and loaded the bottle on the top and all the water started leaking from the bottom. I had to take the water bottle off. WTF? Did I get a bad unit?

IF YOUR COLD WATER IS LEAKING OUT THE BOTTOM, REMOVE THE TOP COVER VIA TWO SCREWS ON THE BACK AND REINSTALL THE COLD WATER HOSE ONTO THE NOZZLE, REUSING THE ZIP TIE IF YOU CAN OR GET A NEW ZIP TIE.... YES I KNOW THEY MADE THE HOSE TOO SHORT AND JUST STRETCH IT TO FIT ONTO THE NOZZLE SO IT PULLS OFF.... YOUR WELCOME....

My dispense was leaking from the bottom. Turns out it was because of the crack in the bottle. The crack played with the pressure or something like that. A new bottle on the dispenser and everything is fine.

I have model 601141,can't find a manual....anyways I have had it for 7 years, and have woke up to 5 gallons all over the floor enough times to use it for shotgun practice. There is a silicone/rubber o-ring about 4" diameter between the water reservoir and the tank that the bottle fills up, and I 'm telling you a real bugger to get right or it just keeps leaking. 2 screws in the top back, the whole top pops off, can't move it much, due to switch wiring. Flip the bowl over and wala, the o-ring. That mother has to be correct. There are 4 ridges and the o-ring fits over the ridges to hold in place, smooth side out, it slides in the bowl, to keep the water where it should be....inside. Be careful, or you will become a professional at this, it constantly wants to roll off the ridges.....patience big homeys. These things are very tender, don't just throw bottles up there. ALSO, the ring with the ridge side, it has a longer, fatter side. ...I put the thin side down, meaning the thin side will go back in bowl first (down).I hope I gave you some insight, be patient folks its plastic.....if you can tear it apart, anyone with half a brain will be able to figure out what I'm telling. ...if not. ...plan B......3" magnum # 6 shot. ....pure satisfaction!
