In the aftermath of a Winter Storm I had to pull some snares and make some new sets, hope you follow along and enjoy the challenges of winter snaring.

Lots of good tips there Charlie. The birch on the top of the boughs will put more fragrance of birch in the area. Also, the tip on a short space on the twist is a good point for a quick release on the loop. See you down the trail.

Thanks, and perhaps the extra fragrance is what did it. The other two pens I have out with the old birch never got a second look. I'm going to pull the portables tomorrow ahead of the rain that's coming in 3-4 days from now.

Always enjoy when you post Charlie ! Especially as someone just getting into it , I agree with you , there is NOTHING more frustrating than fluctuating snow levels while snaring. ‘ It’s so frustrating it’ll make your hair turn white ! ‘ Couldn’t help myself with the rabbit joke🤣🤣 Best of luck with the trapping Charlie !

Haha Brayden good one. Yes tough conditions this week but it's a nice night tonight. I'm going to pull my portable pens tomorrow due to the weather coming. Do a little maintenance on them and get them back out if the weather settles after this mild coming.

hard to snare in unsettled weather... Pens placed under sheltered fir and spruce seems to help, but when the winds blow no snares are safe from the weather then.

tons of snow for sure. The pens do work. I have had rabbits in mine. Just need to adjust the snare openings. Great video buddy.

95% of all the rabbits I ever caught on my portable pens I got on the small ends of the pens. Not sure why but they like to enter the pens there over the longer sides.

Wow you guys got a lot more now than we have here in central. Now that really shows the benefits of a portable pen, i definitely gotta get couple on the go next year.

They are fun to tinker with, and quick to relocate if needed. Good for picking up a few rabbits here and there without targeting anyone area to hard.

Good snow! Hardly a winter here in the U.P. usually we get 300+ inches/yr. Discovered your channel when i was researching skidoos..did lots of hemming and hawing between the tundra amd expedition, went with the exp sport with the 6oo ACE. Not disappointed but love the tundra too. My brother in law has your exact sled. Anyway, love your part of the world would live to visit someday.

The weather so is changing, globally it seems. Not sure what the future has in store for us so I plan on making the most out of this winter as long as the conditions allow. Hope you get snow so you can get out on your ski-doo and get some good riding in. Thanks for taking the time to drop and comment. Much appreciated.

yes, shoulders to wide for the ones on the ski-doos and the wrist one is only $15 and don't shake and vibrate making it impossible to see what's behind you.
