⁠@@sergiolozano6205Are you in California? If so, yes, an FFL 03 (with a valid COE) can receive ammo directly by mail. If you are not in California then most states allow shipping ammo directly to you without restrictions or needing an FFL.

You're very welcome and thanks for watching, as to your questions: 1. You could always ship the forms via usps with delivery confirmation. 2. I see no reason why it couldn't be hand delivered. I sent a paper copy to my local county sheriff's office. The CLEO letter is only a formality the ATF wants you to do, mainly in case you're a bad guy and the ATF doesn't know yet would be my guess. Hope this helps.

Yeah, some can get added to the list purely for historical reasons, like a letter from a museum curator. I know one got added that way.

@@brandenkrause so per their instructions, that is a time (minimum 1 hour) that you have to be available if they wish to come and inspect your bound book.

The cover letter isn't required as far as I know, but sending them the copy of the application is. That should be the second part of the PDF you download from the ATF website.

I'm really not sure on this question as I don't live in CA, I do know if you have a COE + Type 03 FFL that you can purchase ammo, but I really don't know how you go about filling it out for that purpose. That should be all they can check, unless they have a warrant to check the rest....I try to keep my C&Rs segregated from the rest.

Yes sir, just download it like I showed. The screenshot I showed is the one I got off amazon, it's made by RK Enterprises. I really like it. Remember this is for when you actually get your FFL, the ones purchased previously dont get logged in there.

as far as recording what you get under the licence i just got a small notebook that i record any purchase i made under the licence. rhings like where i purchased , model and serial#. also consider that atf can ask to see this at any time i believe. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

If you're referring to your license you received, I would say no. Make copies of it and pint, sign, and date them. Those will be provided to whoever you but a C&R firearm from. This way you always have the original to make copies from...additionally some places like Hunter's Lodge require a "wet ink" copy. This means you can have an unsigned copy of the original, but you would then sign, print, and date it and send it in to them with your order.

I'm no legal expert, but in most cases, depending on the state, private transactions are legal (to individuals in you state only)...That can greatly vary from state to state. I would consult the USCCA's website on this, or a gun law expert. A Type 03 FFL is only for collecting.

I ask this because, I already that very many legally purchased and, I still have all I have purchased through stores, etc.... If those weapons are in question. @kevinblair5708 correct, unless they have a warrant to inspect the rest...Essentially your C&R license is for your C&R purchases and they must be logged and the log can be inspected along with the guns listed in it. Many people have a separate safe only for C&R firearms. Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it!

From the oldest comment down below, if you live in California you can, I'm not sure about the New England states or other opressive states. I live in the southeast, we can always have ammo shipped to our door regardless of whether or not you have a C&R.

I hear you and I can understand where you're coming from.

Even if you are in violation, they would rather try to have you comply with the regs than send the swat team. It's not always kicking doors and arresting licencees, like the FCC

Unlike other FFLs, they don’t actually have a right to come to your house and search it. That applies to dealers only. This FFl explicitly lists on it that you are not a dealer. The ATF can request your bound book, and they can come to your house to see it or you can see them at the local field office-your choice. But that’s the extent of their rights and authority with regard to your Type 03 FFL.

As long as you're of legal age to buy and possess ammunition, you can have that shipped straight to your door, whether you have a C&R license or not.

You don't really need to, just download the form from the ATF website, fill it out and send it in.

I don't know mine personally, sending them a copy of the application and letter is just a courtesy that the ATF requires you to do. I've never gotten a response of anything really from my county sheriff. You send the copy that says "CLEO" to the chief of police in your town or the county sheriff and send the other part of the form to the ATF, at the address listed on the form.
