"So This Is Love" or "Unchained". Live versions of both are tremendous. Really gives you a sense of the energy of the live show.

I was lucky enough to see them in concert in 1980. They absolutely rock! David Lee Roth was fun to watch. Eddie Van Halen was amazing to watch play! RIP Eddie.

We saw Van Halen in the UK for the first time in 1978 when they supported Black Sabbath on Their never say die tour. What we saw in Van Halen was unbelievable. Everyone was blown away. They were outstanding.

David Lee Roth, "Diamond Dave" they called him. He was their original singer through their album 1984 and tour in 1985. An absolutely great front man! Other live videos to check out are Unchained, Runnin' With the Devil, Mean Street, Jump, Panama and Hot For Teacher like you mentioned. Roth's signature karate kicks aren’t just for show - Dave actually studies kenjutsu, a school of Japanese swordsmanship. He’s been studying martial arts since the age of 12 . In the 1980s Roth added some kenpo to his arsenal, taking up with Elvis’s old master, the legendary Ed Parker, and his associates. In addition to sharpening his skills, Parker, along with kenpo master Frank Trejo, also helped Roth with his dayjob.

David Lee Roth was the ultimate hair band frontman IMHO. And they were the bomb live. A group like this burned hot and could never last long. You knew you'd never see these guys on tour at 60 and that's how rock should be, it's a young man's game. We'll never see their like again!

If you never saw them in concert, you'll never know what you missed out on.

As the other comments have said David Lee Roth was an amazing front man for Van Halen. He did martial arts so that was why he was so flexible. His energy was always amazing. He is on a short list of great rock & roll leads. You definitely need to react to more Van Halen. They were it in the 80’s. EVH was one of the greatest guitarists ever. Alex Van Halen was a vastly underrated drummer. He is one of the best. The whole band was great. Looking forward to more VH reactions Tasha. ✌️

The year was 1978, and in that year, the music world was absolutely not ready for the rock and roll nuclear bomb that was, VAN HALEN. Rock and Roll has never been the same since. Now, since you are loving Dave's gymnastic moves....please, PLEASE review the 3 Van Halen songs from the Oakland 81 show. Van Halen was pure raw in those 3 live videos. And, Dave does some incredible jumps and splits. You'll enjoy it.....I PROMISE. Plus, the music is absolute fire.

This VH classic was put to cool use in the underrated sci-fi film, "Mission To Mars" (2000), where a married couple among the astronauts dance to it playing over the ship speakers while in zero gravity. Beautiful. David Lee Roth has been studying 3 different martial arts since 12 years old, so you're seeing that influence in his stage performances. That 'toe touch' as you call it from cheerleading, was a signature stage move of his for years.

In the 80's, I crashed a car (not my fault), through a wood fence, into a person's front yard. No one was injured, but this song was blasting loud on my radio. Makes me think of that incident every time I hear it. 'What the hell just happened?! You good? Yep. Well...Dance the night awaaaaayyyyyy!!!'

Then one day at Prince's home, he said "Hey look, who is this?" as he jumped of a baby grand piano doing the toe touch. She knew he was jealous of DLR and had practiced up on this. Later, he would include the jump is live performances as well.

One of my all time favorite songs from Van Halen is Beautiful Girls off their Van Halen II album. Great rhythm guitar and all around amazing groove. Also, if you really like Eddie’s playing, check out the song 5150 from their Live Without A Net live performance. I can’t say that enough about that performance.
