After ditching the scales for over 7 years, I recently weighed myself, only to discover that I'd lost 56 pounds (25kg) over the course of my vegan journey! After following the Eat to Live 6-week nutrition program, I lost a further 11 pounds. In this video, I discuss the gradual process, why I've chosen not to discuss weight loss up until this moment, and the small healthy changes I've incorporated into my lifestyle.

Yay! Happy to see videos like this. I recently decided to go vegan, by starting a 30 day challenge(after being vegetarian for nearly 3 years). Also cutting out sugar. This video inspired me ❤️ Looking forward to more videos from you!

Always remembered what Ogie Shaw said:always eat for nutrition, never for weight loss.

Hello, thank you for this. I am in Nigeria and I really don't know what I am suppose to be eating considering how much wrong delicious food we have in Nigeria. You didn't mention anything about meat fish egg etc. I wish I can get a meal plan of what I can be eating. Even if it's just fruits. I just want a real meal plan.

I just leave the salt out. Takes a while for your taste buds to adapt to salt-free but you get there eventually.

Hi @vegan Nigerian. I want to go 60 percent vegan in my eating habit. However, the motivation is low and setbacks a lot, as vegetables and fruits are quite expensive in the city for one. Second, my roommate who thinks I am simply trying to loose weight (even though I am slim, whenever I add weight I know, I get sluggish and lazy) and thrives on eating fatty, oil and little vegetables. What do I do to avoid us having to cook separately as a measure? She does most of the cooking, and unless I cook and add the occasional chopped raw greens and fruits, she doesn't do vegetable at all, except when she makes soup.

Sounds like a tricky situation. I think having a frank and honest conversation with your roommate about why you want to eat healthier is a first step. Frame it in such a way to let them know how important it is to you and set a clear boundary that you'd like them to respect your choices. Then getting stuck in and helping more with the cooking will give you back some control. No reason why you can't cook two dishes simultaneously and then sit down to enjoy your meals together. While she does her preferred dish, you can make one that's full of veg or make a fruit salad for dessert afterwards. In terms of the affordability of fruit and veg, I highly recommend getting them from local markets rather than supermarkets as they tend to cost considerably less. It may also be a case of adjusting your monthly budget, seeing where you can save money in other areas so that you can invest in more fresh produce. Your health is always worth investing in :)
