We started on some interior decorating in the apartment, most of the furniture is here but I still need to refinish them all, still painting doors and frames, also, just fixed a crack between the tiles. Windows are in despair, but to do anything, they need to be cleaned. That’s the worst part. 40 years of grime is not easy to remove. I will try to steam the grime next week and maybe it will work? Worst case scenario, we will need new windows…

Well done on the tile grout, I have learned that when people buy a Chateau that needs work, they find themselves becoming great carpenters, electricians, plumbers, all around builders, so your advice not to be afraid is good advice, eventually you learn, and things start to become second nature to you. The fabrics are beautiful, looking forward to seeing what you make from them. Good video. Love from N.Y.

Give yourself credit, you're working hard and doing great! There is a basic chateau remodelers kit that will pay for itself many times over, so you could start accumulating those things now. Buy a rolling scaffolding on wheels, a spray gun, and air compressor. Pick a brand of cordless battery tools that you like and buy ALL the same accessories they make. ( I think you already have a power washer) Your chateau is going to be the jewel in the crown, some years down the road.

Great advice! Indeed, that’s how I should start. No, I don’t have a power washer. Just an orbital sander. I will follow your advice once I am ready to tackle more tools!

@@countrylivinginfrenchchate2676 You have two young kids, so a lot of your time is already taken. Make a priority list of the problems which are most pressing, and then divide that list into things you can do yourself and those which you have to pay for. One job at a time, you will create a great looking chateau.

Hello! The repaired crack in the floor looks great. When I have a new repair to do I Google it and get numerous advice sources immediately. It has helped me conquer many obstacles. When you wash windows you can pour the dirty water out that window, watering the plants outside and saving you having to carry the heavy pail....as long as there are no dangerous chemicals in the water of course. The fabric you found in the brocante is lovely! They would make beautiful pillow covers to brighten up rooms in the cold winter. Have a happy, successful week! ~`Debra , Michigan, USA

I think you should put the wood worm chemical into. Sprayer and it would go a lot faster and get better results.

Refinishing furniture is a very detailed job. I have done a fair bit of if. It is very time consuming and if not done right just makes it worse. Wood filler is not the answer. 12:38 You are a very hard worker.

That one window you showed, is actually not in bad shape, comparatively speaking. Don't use water. Use a distilled vinegar or borax.

The shutter is in far better shape than the window itself. We just had the glass re-secured to the frame so it doesn’t fall out 🫣. The frame on the Outside is in much worse condition than on the inside.

@@countrylivinginfrenchchate2676 Yes, probably all the windows will need to be re-glazed on the outside. That's a job you can actually do yourself, if you can reach them.

I would suggest you spend some time on KZfaq looking at how people do things. We can't all know how to do everything but we can learn. There are dyes that you can put in your grout to make them match the brick better and not stand out so much. The woodworm treatment needs to be sprayed over the entire wood piece. You can't just dot where they're holes. You seem like a lovely lady but I have watched several of your videos and you haven't finished anything. It skips all over the place. Last time it was washing the staircase. I will come back in a few months and see if perhaps you've found your groove. Watch a lot of other chateau videos. Good luck.

I watch many chateau vlogs and those owners who are renovating. You can learn so much. The owners of “escape to the dream”, “chateau de la Ferte “, chateau de la citadelle” just to name a few that are renovating every day. And look at their earlier vlogs, too. Just a tip!
