If it won't flex, you can loosen the nuts some, loosen the tensioner allowing the bar to slide back. Re-seat the chain and tighten everything back up, spool it up and keep rolling. If burrs on the drivers wont let it seat in the groove, run it with a loose chain for one good rev, it'll clean 'em right off. Hotshot Crews typically run 28" bars so this is what we practice, and if you do it enough you can get the saw back up in under a minute, assuming you can see or breath haha. PULL CHORD!!

very good tip for those that don't know. another thing to remember is longer bars like 28" and up (like we run mostly 32" Stihl lite bars) if it's a pro lite laminated bar they flex much easier and you can even do this with a 20" Laminated bar but if it's anything other than a laminate then yes in my experience it's really tough to flex an standard bar with out putting a bend in it.

Idk,seems like an aweful lot just to avoid taking off the clutch cover. I know a full wrap handle makes that a more involved job,but still. I can do it in just over a minute

I do it with the chain on the starter side. It's easier to bow the bar that way.
