www.comedyhype.com/ - Back in 1991, Arsenio Hall found himself in a similar face off with the LGBTQ as Dave Chappelle today. Hall would get an impromptu visit from leaders of the 'Queer Nation' during a taping of his hit show, 'The Arsenio Hall Show'. In this special CH News break, we find out why Hall took such a strong stance. Instagram: @ComedyHype & Twitter: @ComedyHype_

I have actually seen the full segment with Arsenio Hall and he even says that a lot of his guests have been gay but aren't ready to come out yet because of fears of how it would affect their careers or their familial relationships and it isn't his place to out them. Full respect to him for that speech, because back then it took actual courage for stars and celebrities to come out because you got a lot of doors slammed in your face.

Oh, comedy ain't no joke. It is serious business. It is the spoonful of sugar that helps the medicine go down. Comedians help people think about the unthinkable, and talk about the unspeakable, and see things inside of themselves, in the culture, and the world at large that are difficult to want to look at. Comedians are the social commentators that get a pass to say things that the average person does not know how to bring up and has no platform to do so.

He said he was "team TERF" in the special in a written comedy routine. Is your premise that every detail of a comic's act is personal disclosure? Dave has also had bits where he said he "fucks feet." Is that part of the routine or personal truth? He's said in his mother specials that he made out with a trans woman. Personal disclosure or part of a written comedy routine? It's dishonest to pull a quote and assume it is a true detail from a personal experience. Or it's pure ignorance of how some creative arts are conceived. Louis CK has a bit about a guy complaining on an airplane. In an interview he said it was really him complaining, but the joke worked better saying it was someone else. comedians shape their work for impact, for laughs. To assume every iota of their act is truth about their life is absurd.

@@dpcisunbreakable way back before the LGBTQ+ community labeling, when it was just the referred to as “gay community”, the GRC ( for the purposes of the conversation) 70’s/80’s was piggy backing ideas from the civil rights movement, while excluding gay people of color, for fear of the convolution of agendas. Gay White men were running things and the gay black man wasn’t welcome in those circles of decision making. This mindset has carried over to this day. Just look at how they decided that of all the talk show host that they could’ve gone after, they decided on a soft target. Let’s go after Arsenio Hall. AKA punching down. Sounds like you need to do your homework. I don’t need to do my homework. I suggest you stope trying to, as you ignorantly stated, got for the soft targets, because not only is your aim wrong, you can't even reply to one iota of my comment. You can't get a degree, let alone do your homework, if all you're doing is jumping ahead of the lesson itself and choosing not to read as instructed. It's responses like yours that turn people off, because you refuse to listen to understand. Do better, and stop trying to compete with people that have information that is just as valid as yours, because not once have I even denied anything you mentioned. Racist isn't a sexual preference. It's called obligation.. I have gay and trans friends and family. They know how I feel on the subject. It's about respect and understanding. Even my best friend jumped on the bandwagon without even watching it. Like yo.. you're smarter than that... but feelings somehow override facts.. do I believe trans women are real women.. no.. but do I respect their right to be who they are... yes.. some women can't have kids or periods. But they still are women. Body make up genes all that.. A trans female can't biologically bare children. That's the difference. Like when a trans man has a child.. no the biology of that person is still female and has the ability to bare children. No where in nature is it the other way. It's either you reproduce asexually or in some species some will change sex for reproduction. But there's ALWAYS an opposite. And that's what's being canceled. Science and facts to make one group of people comfortable. But blacks still struggle , our protest get overlooked when a few assholes corrupt the message. But no one dare speak about the LGBTQ community even when they are flat out wrong.. and that is what dave was talking about. It wasn't about them it was about a system that caters to everyone else who isn't black.

One queen was telling a story/experience of another local queen and was abruptly interrupted by the other queen when she asked if this person in the story was cis or not. The queen telling the story asked why it mattered. The other cohost queen, being trans, said it matters to the extent that it differentiates different human lived experiences. The difference with Chappelle is nobody went into his damn audience to protest his show. Dave Chappelle said some stuff that if he said it about black people would get people lynched. You think that’s a bad comparison? Trans people are getting murdered in very high numbers. When you tell people you’re on the side of not validating their identity I guarantee you people use that as a justification to murder trans people. It’s so disgusting and insulting to try to compare a bunch of protesters disrupting arsenios show, which is really disrespectful, to Chappelle attacking trans people for no reason other than he’s a old bitter bigot way past his prime. Don’t complain about racism if you aren’t against transphobia because trans people are an even smaller and much more persecuted group in America today

I think we all long for the days where we can all laugh together about everyone and everything. I remember Andrew Dice Clay, he was so offensive to women back in the day but I just didn't listen to him and it never bothered me that people thought he was funny, it's comedy. I am white and one of my favorite shows when I was little was the Jeffersons. I loved George Jefferson and the jokes he made about white people. Now that I am an adult, I see that every white character on that show was a bit of a buffoon which was by design and that's what made it so funny. There are 7 billion souls on this planet and we have to live together, so why not laugh tougher about our differences instead of allow it to make us miserable? Life is too short for that! Thanks for the post. We need to stop taking everything so seriously and stop allowing the most radical people to make these rules in society about woke culture to the point where we can't even laugh together.

The problem with the "gay community" is that it doesn't think that it's a reflection of the larger community, in that, in its pursuit to not be victimized, doesn't think that it has racist and prejudicial "blind spots" as well. Ergo, when you call it out on being just as racist and prejudicial as the greater society, it feigns victimhood, but has no problem using methods that only those who have social privilege would employ. That's why, for now, any gay person of color, who are defending the backlash against Dave Chappelle, are THE definition of being sellouts to corporate interests, which is influenced by gay interests and the "woke" progressives.

@@tobiaslawrence8928 , I noticed a lot of LGBT blacks hate the black heterosexual patriarchy. Black LGBT blame black men and masculinity for homophobia & transphobia. Then black women feminists support them by calling out black men for misogyny, sexism, and toxic masculinity. So black LGBT and black feminists team up to attack heterosexual black men. Then you have heterosexual black male feminists and defenders of the LGBT community. So the average heterosexual black man feels like he is being crucified by these other groups within the black community. If anything its going to push many black men to the right, because the left will not correct these overreaching feminists and LGBT extremists. The conservatives still support a healthy dose of masculinity.

It's so easy to take a tiny clip of something someone says, twisted up into something completely out of context and throw it on the internet and let it go viral in an effort to push whatever narratives you're pursuing. Look at any major media outlet, it's how they make their living. As far as both sides not listening to each other, I'm afraid that's happened since the beginning of time and likely it won't end until we're extinct. Especially nowadays again with social media. Think of Twitter specifically. Can you find one person on Twitter who isn't of the "here's my opinion and if you disagree with me you're as bad as Hitler" persuasion?

Arsenio and Chris have every right to feel the way they do! I have gay friends and I’ve never heard them speak out about any other people’s problems with treatment only theirs. Sorry to say but that’s a shame we are all human beings! Every human being on this Planet should be treated equally and fairly by the God given right of freedom and liberty with the pursuit of happiness from the moment you are born! There’s no in between on that! Just straight forward with no stops for stupid! When people allow ignorance to rule their minds and hearts they lose their souls! If you think you don’t have a soul than you lost a part of what makes you Human! If you say I don’t see color well you’re a damn liar but if you say I see you my friend you got it right! Difference between People is what makes us so damned beautiful and wonderful! It brings us so much variety of music , foods, clothes, and styles of art living cool ideas from different points of views! Why wouldn’t anyone want that awesome experience! But when you take and smother another human being for just looking different you lose, they lose and that’s a shame on you! Can you imagine for just one moment how beautiful and wonderful this world could be if everyone could just let the bad from the past be laid to rest! If it could be buried like long lost kin! Nobody remembers them not really think about it! It’s so sad we beat ourselves out of a grand life in this ignorance of stupidity. I can only say I’m 59 soon and hope before I die people change for the better! I’d love to see this world joined as one in humanity as understanding and love wins. God Bless everyone everyday for all your lives. Please stop and say a kind thing to someone just to do it, you just might save a life without knowing it. 🙏❤️🤗

We can’t be running with our tail between our legs when certain groups wanna ambush or attack us! It’s like, if you don’t like it, you ain’t gotta support it! Just like Arsenio said, I tell jokes about Dan Quayle (Bush VP) all of the time, you don’t see him calling me for a fight!🤦🏿‍♂️

It's important to note that Chapelle emphasized that this fight wasn't between him and homosexuals. It was between him and corporate media and what he was allowed to say.

Yeah, but you’re smarter than that, right? Corporate isn’t telling him anything; corporate is bowing down to pressure from the community, and Dave knows that. You get that.

I'm muslim, I don't make a big deal how the media lies about my religion, I don't make a big deal about the movies always making my religion look bad just because of a few crazy's! The gays have crazies in there community as well, there's a crazy in all religions, cultures & races, regardless of what community there will always be a crazy! Therefore judge not by the community, but rather by the individuals conduct! I also would like to say, there is funny in every religion, culture, and race, its ok to laugh about things as well, its part of our human nature... just keep it clean with good intentions! Look we all have differences, let us not argue them, but rather come together in our common ground in which we all have as well! PEACE🙏😁

What it basically boils down to is people want you to accept their lifestyles. The truth is individuals don't have to because gays don't accept everybody's lifestyles. They have prejudices too. This I know because I've lived and worked around them. We don't have to accept everyone's way of life but we should treat every human being with dignity and respect.

How do you defend a community that attacks a person from their own community. What they did to Daphne (Dave's friend that defended him) is wrong! Until they stop attacking people from their own community it's really hard to stand by them. People that don't agree to any type of bullying need to step up...

similar thing happened to me. even tried to have this conversation with my friend who came out as trans. he didn't want to hear it and said daphne was wrong. these types of people (so called transactivists) don't wanna have conversations about nuiainces and shades of gray. you are either with them 100% or against them 100%. there is no middle ground. after that, i just stopped talking about it at all, because i felt like no one wanted to listen to my opinion on the matter.

@@serious7179 A psychological operation. Things like these are propaganda campaigns put out in order to manipulate public perception by presenting a certain opinion as reality, despite being an perception/opinion only held by a small portion of the world (usually rich white people). It works very well today because a single rich person could own multiple news channels and always present his opinion as reality to multiple different demographics
