Live Coverage: WI v. Chandler Halderson - Dismembered Parents Trial
Happening in Court:
Defendant's Police Interview Part 2
Det Brian Shunk - Co-Lead Detective
CHARGES:
Victim Bart Halderson:
COUNT 1: First-degree Intentional Homicide
COUNT 2: False Info on Kidnapped or Missing Persons
COUNT 3: Mutilating a corpse
COUNT 4: Hiding a Corpse
Victim Krista Halderson:
COUNT 5: First-degree Intentional Homicide
COUNT 6: False Info on Kidnapped or Missing Persons
COUNT 7: Mutilating a corpse
COUNT 8: Hiding a Corpse
A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

@Angela Dimo I would say very few people have perfect lives. For most people, adversity and problems create character. Most people don't do what he did. Relatively, he DID fare better than most. Even if his family was dysfunctional, like so many are, that alone would not explain his actions.

And my dad isnt a CPA. If someone says they have a 80k a year job and somehow they never have money....then either they don't have a job or they are a volunteer. And was "working from home"! 😆 No real company is going to let an employee go longer than a paycheck period or 2 without figuring out a way to pay their employee because people have bills they have to pay! I picked up on that, too. My read on it (and I have no Psych degree, just years of Adult teaching experience) is that he Has NPD, and is high on the psychopathy checklist. He doesn't care about other people, what they've eaten, or even if they've eaten at all; other people are graded just like the FDA grades meat, and they are only considered as they affect his life: so, either useful to him, harmful or useless to him, or irrelevant to him. So, I don't think he would ever view it as he having a meal with friends, but as them "feeding him", which is the only part he cares about.

If they had arrested her, she would NOT be on the stand talking it up, because she would have the right to remain silent and her Attorneys would have to prove her guilty that she know more. This way she's incriminating herself. Hopefully, everything will be exposed. It is a duty of the living to do so for them." If everyone listens to her ENTIRE uninterrupted testimony I believe that the name, you hear her say many things that are very suspicious that she may have found out what happened and then tried to help. 1st, she claimed she was close with his parents, spent a lot of time at their house, cooking, playing games, watching movies With the parents, and she loved his parents. She had a close enough relationship with his parents that she even helped cook, and go thru the house to get the food needed in the basement freezers. She knew each level of the house and each room well. With that kind of a relationship with his parents, she would have discussed EVERYTHING about Chandler's job at SpaceX and the insurance job, school. 2nd, there's absolutely zero chance that she wasn't repulsed by the strong pungent stench of the burnt body parts, and heads with BRAIN material when she spent days and nights at the house, right after they were burned,, when people many blocks away said They smelled the gross smoke stench. 3rd, there's no way she didn't see massive amounts of blood everywhere in the house. No way. And not just blood, but body fluid and internal organs and more when a body is cut open. Same with an animal that hunted and gutted. There's a smell that was in that house. She was there a day after he shot and killed his parents. He himself said there were massive amounts of rags, towels cleaning used to clean up the blood. Watch his police Nobody believes he was a SpaceX anything he’s not clever he did not fool her This is an orchestrated plan They all knew more than what they were saying Or is that normal in Wisconsin to mop with peroxide and be so ignorant/incompetent to know what was going on? If that is so Wisconsin women need help immediately from the government Q and A with the DA. 5:24:08 “Will you leave me even if it doesn’t work? Worded bad but you understand”. So the girlfriend knew he planned to kill his parents, on July 1st 2021. Wow, wow, wow. Then at 6:01:05, Chandler wants her to leave after dinner on July 2nd, so he can “get some chores done” ie. Dispose of his parents. When asked if she knew what chores he had that night, there is a long, shaky pause, and she replies “I don’t recall”. She knew. Then at 6:02:16, he tells her “ we set for this we just need ice”. And she brought the hydrogen peroxide and stiffer jet cleaner. Just what you need for dinner! OMG, they hatched this together. Their fresh meat isn't going to stink or rot up any faster than cow meat, a chicken, turkey, or deer would. So what if it's "heads or brain material" it's no different. The neighbor didn't say he smelled a _gross_ smoke stench simply a smoke stench like a barbecue. You are making up or adding your own words. An animal that is hunted and _freshly_ gutted doesn't leave around a strong stench forever unlike a rotted corpse... you are exaggerating everything. Yes, that was creepy. Really his entire story here makes no sense. His dog hit the glass door with his shoulder and shattered it? The dog didn't sustain any injuries (either her shoulder or stepping on glass)? His dad was mad at him for the dog breaking the glass door? Angry dad didn't make him clean it up? Dad and mom just left the floor covered with broken glass as they prepared for their trip, slept, loaded up the vehicle and left? He slept in the room with broken glass on the floor for several days so he'd be closer to the bathroom? It also sounds like he asked to borrow the Swiffer from his girlfriend to clean up the blood before he cut himself.

If they had arrested her, she would NOT be on the stand talking it up, because she would have the right to remain silent and her Attorneys would have to prove her guilty that she know more. This way she's incriminating herself. Hopefully, everything will be exposed. People are saying she's so gullible that she didn't notice blood stains the pungent smell of burnt corpses and believed every lie. But this is a Woman who followed EVERY step that Chandler made and they said they have Thousands of texts etc a day between them, and she said She Keeps Him In Line. This is not a gullible dipsey airhead who just says yes sir. Nope, she ran things and is on top of things. Not a mindless bimbo The dead cannot cry out for justice. @@bbe3034 the prosecution does a great job explaining the answer to this in their opening statement, if you haven’t had a chance to watch that yet, definitely do so, it really gives you insight on just what kind of person he has always been! To sum it up, his entire life was a lie & his dad was finally on to him & was about to expose all of his BS so rather then facing it like the grown man he’s supposed to be, he chose to kill & butcher his parents that were providing & caring for him as if he was still 10yrs old! My summary doesn’t even begin to do justice so I still suggest watching the opening statements..it almost unreal to listen to the lies he spewed & got away with for as long as he did. Also the defense’s opening statement which is 1/4 in length compared to prosecution, really puts into perspective, just how FKed his attorneys are..I’m not sure they even have a strategy lined up, going into this, they’re just hoping for a miracle!

Not as spoiled as some other kids these days, anyway. He needed the pretense of having a job in order to justify spending time around the house. The parents begin confronting their lies and threaten or do cut them off financially. These people are jealous of everyone around them moving on and being successful and don’t want anyone to know how much of a failure they are. To save face and to “solve their financial problems” they murder parents for insurance money, their house, and/or possessions. It’s sick, selfish, and narcissistic.

Make the prosecution prove its case, maybe get a mistrial if they improperly introduce evidence. He has literally nothing to lose.

It’s not that he’s naturally calm I don’t think. He’s completely numbed out on drugs and probably sleep deprived. Sick individual.

Has anyone noticed ANY kind of interaction between Chandler and his attorneys? I think I’ve watched all the videos and haven’t seen a single one. Isn’t this highly unusual? I wonder if they are as disgusted with him as we all are?

He was so humiliated by his web of lies that he killed his parents in the most vile way. He then dumped body parts of his parents like garbage. I lost my dad at 16 years old and my mom is very sick right now. I dream of having parents like this. What a pos, monster.
